Description
The gripping new mystery from the bestselling author of Death at the White Hart
Parkwood Holiday Village is a serene haven: idyllic woodland, a sparkling lake, customer service on tap around the clock. It’s the kind of place families return to year after year.
But for Detective Nicola Bridge, it’s a crime scene. Early one morning, a body is found floating in the park’s pool.
Already stretched by troubles at home, Nicola faces a resort full of suspects, but seemingly no witnesses. Guests and staff alike are hiding secrets: a husband with an alibi that doesn’t track, a high ropes instructor with unexplained fresh scars, a new manager with a secret past.
With hundreds of restless guests and staff on site, Nicola knows the clock is ticking to find the killer before they disappear for good.
Or before they strike again. . .

Parkwood Dorset is a family friendly resort featuring a lake, hiking trails, rental bicycles, a high ropes course and the Splashdome pool. In that Splashdome pool, very early in the morning, a body is found, stabbed and drowned. Detective Nicola Bridge handles the investigation. She is juggling a fractured marriage and a rebellious teenager with a tight schedule for interviews - the guests will check out in three days - and is short staffed. Many of the staff are keeping secrets and several guests are behaving suspiciously. Then Nicola learns of a disappearance several years earlier. Is it connected to the murder?
With The Parkwood Murders, Chris Chibnall has delivered an excellent, well written, complex police procedural. Nicola Bridge and Harry Ward are a good team with undercurrents of something more than professional behavior. The plot is organized, fast-paced and suspenseful. While this is the second in the Nicola Bridge series, it can be read as a standalone. 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley,Viking Penguin and Chris Chibnall for this ARC.

What a fun book! It started a little slowly and then sped up like a bullet train, showing us potential suspects and then moving on to the next bunch of potential suspects. The characters were fun, the setting was interesting (a resort in England), and I didn't figure out who the murderer was until it was revealed to me. Loved it!

There’s nothing I love more than a grisly murder in an English village.
Nicola, Harry, and the rest of the team return in this second book of the series to investigate a murder in a resort. I’m such a fan of this series and of this team. The mystery was very engaging and I loved the multitude of perspectives which didn’t seem connected at first but I was so excited to see how they all came together with the solution at the end.
Also this team!! I love Nicola and I am so so actively hoping for her to finally divorce her husband! 🙂↕️🙂↕️ Max remains a cutie pie 🩷
I can’t wait to read more from this series! Thank you to the publisher for the arc!
