It's a fun and fast read. I love it! Highly recommend it! Character driven plot. It's about resilience and courage to start over when it's needed. It's about support. And it is enriching and emotional.

i do love a woman's fiction book like this. one where we get a mingle of characters who all have their part to play, weave together and when done right like this one you get a few stories in one seamless larger one. the fact we get a trip to the Cotswold is no bad thing either. any book that takes me to this part of the world already has me a little bit in love with it. especially if like Helen and this one she takes us right into the heart of it with her descriptions and people alike.
oh and if the bonus's weren't already enough we also are taken as a reading lover into the world of books for this book features its very own bookshop. winnnerrrrrrr!
a book club in the Cotswold. need i say more. im in and when can i join?
as the story unfolds we get into the lives of our 4 main characters. and it makes you realise even if you go to your own book club or group, just how much people might need the place, or just have going on in their lives that unless we know, you'd never know. all our characters in this book we meet when they are dealing with their own fair bit of "stuff". with this being about woman of a certain age it also felt like i was even more invested. because i notice it more no im an old fogie by books terms just how little i was aware of the age of the characters in books were never, are still not really, above a certain young age. so to get these woman in this book in their 50s-ish was a really noticed treat.
Imogen is coming to the Cotswold's with a sore heart and not not what to do with herself now. she does know one thing, that her dream of opening a bookshop has never left her. is this the perfect time?
Kimberley as a Pr high flying woman has lost it all. after a big client dropped her, her reputation is in tatters through no fault of ehr own.
Joanna's has the life she wanted right here where she has always been. hasn't she? because now her children have left she faced to, well, face herself.
and Geri, oh Geri the love. she has to see the rapid and increasing decline of her mother and the Alzheimer's the has its grip fully on her now. its been left to her to step up and become the carer her mother needs. but at what expense to Geri and her own health?
these woman are all now back in their hometowns. all for different reasons. but that is the beauty in this book and in friendships that can grow in times of need or even in times of not needing. the way you support each other the way you are there can make a difference when you have love and support by your side. these four friends might just be about to find it. spurred along by the book club that becomes an anchor and spreads far wider than just a meeting a week. there may be even a little bit of romance woven into this book. but its not the main focus which i thought was a really nice change.
i love how much we see right here the power of care, of books and how much even the simple book can create something far reaching and wider. and can trickle into the community, to friends, to the ups and downs of life and help all who are enveloped by the then growing community.
new and old friends are made within this move home for the woman. it seems they find each other again and the others, at just the right time. i couldn't wait to keep sitting down to read and escape fully into the world and lives Helen has created here. it was just wonderful and i shall be looking for anything else that Helen comes out with next
