This really is a good way for children to understand these verses. The book has good examples--that there's a time to have lots of fun but there's also a time where you have to clean up. There are sad times but also happy times.

A Time for Everything would be a wonderful addition to a home or Sunday School library.

Sweet drawings to compliment such beautiful Scripture. So very necessary for young children to understand that God gave us time for everything. Not to be rushed. Not to be wasted. But to be cherished and to give thanks for. I pray books like this will be remembered in the minds of those who read them and as with all Scripture, remind us in times of need, in times when anxiety tries to grip us in its greedy hold, and to keep us in the peace that Jesus Christ offers. Illustrations and typeface: 5 out of 5 - the use of shapes, texture, and vibrant colors worked very well on some of the mostly white backgrounds. As well as the use of circular image outlines to create a space for the text to flow.

Message of the book 3 out of 5 - I think the idea of knowing how there are parts of your day as a kid you will enjoy, and others that exist because things do need to be done, is important. I think this is a good bedtime and reflection book for those who are religious as well.

The writing/rhyme scheme 2/5 - Some of the pages flow so beautifully and make it easy for sight word reading for younger kids, or to even create a nice flow for the adult reading to younger kids, and then every once in a while the writing doesn't work and falls a little flat or has you questioning why was this activity choosen for the day to explain the theme/concept.

Overall, I think it is a cute children's book, and my kindergarten-age nephew enjoyed it and read a few pages to me as we read it together. It kept his attention as well.

This is such a cute children’s book, adapting Ecclesiastes 3:1–8 for young children. The illustrations are bright and cute, following a group of animal friends as they go about their day. I found the text to be sweet and rhythmic, teaching kids about all the important things they can do throughout the day. I also loved the checklist at the end where kids can see how many of these things they’ve done.

This would be a great addition to a children’s library, and I would love to see it read aloud at storytime to a group of preschoolers.

This was super cute. It’s 34 odd pages which is a perfect bedtime length book, the pictures where softly colourful, and not overwhelming, each illustration had some nice talking points to encourage conversation between parent and child. I think this would make a fantastic hardcover book. The actual content was really nice. I enjoyed reading through it and linking it with our day. I would definitely recommend this book.

A Time for Everything is a sweet picture book about learning that there is a time for everything, from the things we enjoy to the everyday tasks that simply need to be done.

I really liked the main message of the book. For children, it is an important lesson to understand that not every part of the day will be fun, quick, or easy. Sometimes we get to play in puddles, while other times we have to clean up the mess. Sometimes we want to talk, while other moments require us to listen or rest. I think this is a lovely concept for a bedtime or reflection book, encouraging children to think about their day and the different things that make up a balanced routine.

The animal characters are adorable, and the illustrations bring a lot of charm and personality to each scene.

The rhyming, however, was a little inconsistent for me. Some pages flow beautifully and have a lovely rhythm that works particularly well when reading aloud, while others feel less natural. There were also a few moments where certain activities didn’t really work for me, and I didn’t feel they were the best examples to help children understand the concept being presented.

Overall, I think this is a cute and thoughtful picture book with an important message for young children.

Thanks, NetGalley, for this ARC! It's always refreshing to have new children's books that have Christian elements. This book's illustrations are unique and peaceful in the way they are drawn, and the text is whimsical, yet is higher level than the average kids' book because it makes Ecclesiastes approachable for kids and their parents. Some things I was not a fan of were mentioning making time for technology (don't kids do that enough already, and do we really want more "iPad kids"?) and saying to make time for speaking and taking a stand (which sounds like activism, although maybe that's not what the author intended; maybe it was meant to stand up to bullies). Overall, I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure that I would necessarily buy it for my son or recommend it to patrons.

This is an ideal book for very young children, under the age of 5. The bright colors and cute animals will catch their attention. The storyline follows a typical day of a toddler or preschooler, from eating to playing, to resting and taking a bath. It is an inspirational and fun story with an encouraging biblical message.

​Jonny Lambert’s charming collage-style illustrations immediately draw the eye, pairing sweet animal characters with the simple rhythms of a child’s day—from playtime and gardening to quiet moments of rest. The book does a wonderful job of introducing evening prayer as a natural, comforting close to the day.

​The inclusion of the "My Daily Checklist" at the end is a fantastic practical touch. It turns the book into a great tool for establishing daily routines, encouraging gratitude, and talking through the day together before bedtime. A lovely addition to any Christian family’s evening reading routine!

I'm glad their are books that gives effort to unpack biblical truths for kids specially the tough ones. That being said, reviewing this book is tricky because one, I got hooked with the "paraphrased" thing that I equate it to an easy and understandable language fit for kids. But the author left some of those dark topics (death or hate) that should have been included because it is mentioned in that chapter of Ecclesiastes. Two, the cute animals use here to drive the story. I think they do so much fun that it forgot to tackle those sensitive topics. The artwork is superb and really spot on but I wish the story would be more rounded and don't dodge those lines that doesn't spell "sunshines and smiles".

A Time For Everything is a sweet picture book with a thoughtful message, although I didn't personally connect with it as much as I had hoped.
I did enjoy the illustrations, particularly the use of the different animal characters, and I thought they made the book colourful and engaging for younger readers. The rhyming text also makes the message accessible and easy for children to follow.
While the overall message didn't particularly resonate with me personally, I can definitely appreciate what the book is trying to teach. I think the idea that there is a time and season for the different experiences and emotions we go through could be comforting and meaningful to other readers, particularly families looking for a faith-based children's book.

This story is precious. It’s a paraphrase of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 talking children through their day/week/year. There are times for play and to be serious, to feel our feelings and to be brave. At the end of the book there is a checklist of a daily examination; the last option asks if you thanked God for the day.

I think this is a wonderful book for little children and for parents to read with their kids.

Wow! This book is a keeper! Written for children, it was still deeply appreciated by me, as an adult! Paraphrased from the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, the words are geared for children's understanding while the pictures are charming and so cute! This is a 6-star book for children and even adults! The basic message is that God's Word tells us that there is a time for all activities, and that each day is a gift from God to do them all. The concepts mentioned are those which we want to pass on to our children, like when there is a time to speak and take a stand, to times to shed a tear. Now, I am left wondering about who do I know who would also appreciate this book?

What a cute book. The illustrations were adorable! The book was well written to keep your little one’s attention. Perfect bedtime story to remind our Littles of the importance of God in our lives and how there’s a time for everything, every season, every feeling. Definitely recommend this one for your little ones! ADORABLE!

I really love this book. The words have a nice rhythm and rhyme, which makes it fun to read with children. Kids can enjoy the cute illustrations while reading and think together about all the different things we can do throughout the day.

It is a very comforting book and made me feel peaceful after reading it. Definitely a book I would love to have in our collection.

Biblically on point, an excellent resource to help explain why adults are always telling children it's time to do something specific (especially when it's not the child's initial idea). What a hard topic and beautiful verse! Esoteric to many, but often time sensitive for adults, the concept of "it's time to" is so very complex! I love this sweet book. The checklist at the end might be my favorite- I definitely need those reminders in my own, adult life!

I plan to read this book to my kids a few times a week until we all have it memorized! Getting dressed is normal, cleaning up isn't meant to ruin their play, towers are built and yes, topple. Tears aren't always needed, but they aren't bad to cry. Whew! From sleeping to eating, playing and praying, this book adorably covers it all! It is so hard for children to understand the concept of time and needing to change activities or plan ahead. For example, they see a yummy snack, know it tastes delicious and want to enjoy it RIGHT NOW. But it is not snack time. This fact isn't an attack against their freedoms, but protecting their future, hungry bellies. Understanding these kinds of facts are so minutely detailed, but imperative to future success!

What a delightful retelling of Ecclesiastes 3 in the language of childhood. With whimsical illustrations, we’re taken to a world of play and tidy up, of make a mess and have a bath, of hiding and being brave. Without being heavy handed, not only does this story take the child into our scriptures but helps them start to understand that even the parts of life they don’t love (like tidying up the toys!) have their place.
