Description

A modern woman. A medieval warrior. A curse that demands forever.

Evie Waterton believes in fated mates and love at first sight. She just never expected hers to exist in 1326.

When the upbeat, independent Nashville native wins a Scottish sweepstakes she never entered, she blames destiny. But the quirky matchmakers of Craig Durness are far more than they seem. Hidden behind magical glamours, they’re cursed rebels racing to reunite time-torn soulmates before the gods and Fae courts destroy them.

The moment Evie arrives in the misty Highlands, magic awakens. A fairy hill grants her a breathtaking vision of a fierce, dark-haired warrior who looks at her as if she already belongs to him.

Then the hill sends her back seven centuries.

Drummond MacMuirrow, Earl of Blackmorrow and chief of his clan, was raised to honor both Christianity and the old pagan ways. He trusts the magic of Scotland. So when a mystical mist shows him a vision of a woman unlike any in his world, he becomes obsessed with finding her—and then he does.

Their bond is instant. Exhilarating. Unbreakable.

Unless Evie refuses to accept it.

To claim Drummond as her fated mate, she must forfeit her own century forever. And the gods, goddesses, and ruthless Fae courts are determined to drive her back to 2026. They prey on her fears of plagues and wars, childbirth and loss.

If Evie speaks the severing vow, she escapes, but the curse remains—and the survival of many, including Drummond, hangs in the balance.

In a world where myths breathe and time divides hearts, love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

The Finest Scottish Fate is a sweeping Scottish Romantasy filled with time travel, fated mates, he-falls-first devotion, ancient magic, and the irresistible pull of believing in myths—even when they demand everything in return.

Because when love is written by fate, even time must bow.

I appreciate NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review The Finest Scottish Fate by Maeve Greyson. Evie is alone and working at a job as a trucking dispatcher. She keeps getting notices that she's won a sweepstakes prize for a free trip to Scotland. The only thing is . . . Evie didn't enter a sweepstakes. When she loses her job and decides to visit Scotland she learns she has a fated mate in the 1300's that she needs to meet. If she and her mate, who of course is an Earl, can make things work and she stays in the Fourteenth Century, she will break a curse. Throw in some faries and other mystical creatures and you have a fun book that will have you rooting for things to work out between Evie and Drummond, eventhough they are from two very different times.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Magical, Addictive Time-Travel Romance!

What a wonderful read! This book is the perfect blend of romance, magic, Scottish history, mythology, time travel and Fae intrigue, with a captivating love story at its heart.

Evie and Drummond’s connection is everything you want from a fated-mates romance—intense, irresistible and emotional. The contrast between Evie’s modern Nashville life and Drummond’s 14th-century Scottish world makes their relationship even more fascinating, and I loved watching Evie struggle with the impossible choice between the life she knows and the love she never expected to find.

The Scottish Highlands, ancient magic, gods, goddesses and mysterious Fae courts mixed with twists, danger, humour and plenty of romance really make this story shine.

If you love fated mates, enemies of destiny, time travel, Highland warriors, Celtic-inspired mythology and swoon-worthy romance, this is definitely one to add to your reading list.

A thoroughly enjoyable and enchanting read that had me completely invested in Evie and Drummond’s story. Highly recommend! ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿✨

The Finest Scottish Fate is exactly the sort of premise that makes time-travel romance fun: a modern Nashville woman wins a Scottish trip she never entered, meets a group of suspiciously enthusiastic matchmakers, and winds up seven centuries in the past with a Highland chief who already believes she belongs with him. The magical setup gives the romance a playful start, but Evie’s choice about whether to stay in 1326 gives the story real emotional weight.

I have Scottish ancestry, so I am probably an easy audience for a book involving Highland folklore, old gods, Fae courts, and misty villages. I also liked that Evie does not simply shrug and accept medieval life because she has found her fated mate. The book lets her worry about the things I would absolutely be worrying about too, including war, plague, childbirth, and what it would mean to give up everything familiar forever.

Drummond’s certainty about Evie gives the romance its he-falls-first energy, while the cursed matchmakers and the larger conflict with the gods and Fae make this feel bigger than a straightforward time-slip love story. It is romantic, very Scottish, and happily willing to embrace the mythology instead of keeping the magic around the edges.

My sincere thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a free advance review copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

I really enjoyed this one!! The prose was well done and engaging, the characters were fully fleshed out and realistic, and the world building was intriguing (also not very many info dumps, which can tend to happen with this sort of romance. Highly appreciated!!).

Although this book is on the shorter side (under 300 pages I believe?) the plot flowed nicely and the romance followed a typical fated mates pace of being quick but not overly rushed.

Overall, I’d recommend this one to anyone who enjoys historical romance and wants a fun read!
