The Vampire Of The Gods: the first death was a brilliant read. Loved it. Keres and Silas are 'old' vampires, both sired by the same sire. Silas is wild, reckless and public whilst Keres is quiet and understated, keeping under the radar, but with confidence. When Silas suddenly dies, (not a typical vampire death), Keres makes it her mission to find out why and if she will suffer the same ending.
Determined to find out and accompanied by her 'old' flame Lazarius - a Vampire who has over the centuries collected Vampire artifacts and lore, they go to Greece: the home country where Keres was sired.
The story is fast paced, it has action, mystery, history, mythology and thrills. Great read. Excited to read the next book and I hope it's available soon, as this first book ends on a cliffhanger.

(For the publishers only. "An entirely different plane altogether, which neither of them had ever entered before. And new experiences for them, even in Lazarius’s fifteen hundred undying years, were hard to come by." - this is a direct lift from the book. As the reader we already know that they've never been to Hades before or this plane. I just felt this sentence didn't fit with the story and scene setting.

I am ALWAYS here for vampires, but Vampires of the Gods: The First Death gave me something a little different. I loved the dark mythology, ancient vampire lore, and the mystery surrounding what is happening to Keres and her kind. The idea that an immortal vampire could actually have an expiration date? Absolutely hooked me.

Keres is a great character to follow, especially as she digs deeper into her own history and the secrets surrounding her bloodline. Add in Greece, Greek mythology, an ex-lover she doesn’t completely trust, dangerous vampires, and a slow-burn romance, and this was exactly the kind of dark fantasy I wanted.

I’m definitely curious to see where this vampire world goes next!

A Vampire Mystery with Myth and Romance

Her ex-lover is along for the ride that involves violent encounters, slices of vampire social life, and doses of Greek mythology. What is the origin of the vampire? Does Keres reunite with her sometimes annoying, always charming former lover? This book solves some of the issues, but a sequel is promised that will expand the paranormal world that Katsanakis has created. A highly enjoyable page-turner!
