Description
Dee’s life unfolds through first love, loss, heartbreak and the enduring strength of friendship from the summer of 1977 to the eve of her fiftieth birthday on the Greek island of Paros.
From a teenage romance to the devastating loss of the man she believed she would spend her life with, Dee is forced to rebuild herself more than once. As she creates a new life and reconnects with family she never knew existed, she begins to believe that happiness may still be possible.
Then, on the night of her fiftieth birthday, an unexpected face from her past appears, making her wonder whether love has not slipped away after all.

This book chronicles Dee’s life from mostly young adulthood to fifty specifically her loves and losses. She hasn’t had it easy but searches for answers and does take chances. It is a hopeful book even when things are rough. Her resiliency, courage and flaws make her character seem real.

this was such a beautiful read.seeing Dee's story like this with all the big loves and losses and ups and those downs really made me sit back and think. i love we get to see her age group right until her 50s. that felt important and really did feel like it was representative. because we never hear about people in that age group usually. and now im older im very aware of how sparce books for certain age groups are.even when we usually have time-span novels its stopping somewhere at 30 for people journey. so to see Dee through all those years felt really fulfilling. its also a really lovely reminder of just how much a person lives. you dont have to be going to the moon to have made a difference or for the world to have mad a difference to you.
Joanna writes with such knowledge of her character and characters its almost like she is reading someone diary. she captures those details that really bring the memories and situations home to you. there is fun, laughter and love along the way in these books but there is also losses and those deeper impacting moments. nothing outlandish but to our main character they of course very much are. they have made her and shaped her up until the point we meet her at. and i loved this books for portraying that even more.
a really great read that felt like it held so much promise in its lessons for life that i couldn't help but feel better every step of the way we get to know Dee.

We follow Dee’s life from a young age into her fifties. It takes you through love, heartbreak, loss, and trying to rebuild your life along the way.
As a woman in my fifties, this one really hit home for me. It took me on an emotional journey and had me thinking about life, love, and all the choices we make along the way. Such a beautiful and relatable read.

This one was an intensely emotional, heart-wrenching rollercoaster that completely swept me away from start to finish! It’s such an addictively poignant, tenderly written story about fading passion, devastating heartbreak, and the ultimate fight to rebuild a love that’s crumbling at the seams, packed with raw vulnerability, soaring romantic stakes, and a deeply moving journey that will leave you thoroughly captivated!
