The author of Loon Point returns with a heartwarming novel about three women in crisis finding friendship, family, and the ground beneath their feet—under one extraordinary roof.

For 150 years, the Turnip House has stood watch over the river in Felix Falls, Minnesota. As autumn turns to snowy winter, its turreted roof shelters three strangers seeking radical change.

After the collapse of her marriage, Max is channeling raw grief into provocative art. Alice, a young painter far from home, hopes the house’s light-filled studio will reveal the artist she wants to become. And Winnie, an eighty-six-year-old with OCD, has just lost the farmhouse she treasured—but an unexpected reconnection awaits her.

As each woman faces questions about where to go from here, their lives blend together in shared meals, deep talks, and the patient work of beginning again. The house has a way of offering what they need, even when it’s not what they thought they wanted.

Equal parts wise and whimsical, The Turnip House is a moving novel about creative catharsis, seasons of surprising sweetness, and the strong bonds forged at life’s crossroads.
