Description

She’s the unstoppable Holiday Spirit. He’s a reluctant Hot Santa. Saving Christmas just got complicated.

Spirit guide Pearly Gates has shared countless lives—and holidays—with her soulmate, Thunder. But after he misses their annual holidate and is placed on mandatory leave for burnout, even their timeless romance could use a little Christmas magic.

Then Pearly’s sent to Bellhaven, where a grieving high school principal has canceled the beloved holiday musical once directed by his late husband. Disguised as a custodian and drawing on her past-life experience as a drag queen, Pearly rallies his furious daughter (currently falling hard for the new girl in the ensemble) and a band of determined theater kids to stage an unauthorized replacement: The Jingle Rebellion, a musical about a mourning Santa who cancels Christmas—and the elves who refuse to surrender their joy.

When the production finds an unlikely home at the local roller rink, Pearly persuades Thunder to don the red suit. Soon they’re surrounded by roller-skating elves, improvised costumes, new romance, queer found family, and a town determined to make the season sparkle.

But putting on a show is easier than fixing the people you love. To save Christmas—and their own happily-ever-after—Pearly and Thunder may have to stop clinging to their familiar roles and make room for something new.

Funny, festive, and full of glittery holiday charm, The Jingle Rebellion is a heartfelt cozy fantasy set in a queernormative world about Christmas magic, found family, and a love that must change to endure.

Think Good Spirits meets Footloose…only gayer.

The Jingle Rebellion is Book 3 in the Pearly Gates series, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Advance Praise

"Funny, tender, wildly imaginative, and full of hard-earned hope. It left me wanting to throw on an ugly Christmas sweater (In August!), gather the people I love, and make some messy, ridiculous joy together." -Goodreads reviewer

"This was one of the most intriguing cozy books I have ever picked up and I am generally NOT a fan of cozy--but THIS book? Big fan. The diversity and representation comes off naturally and I think there is a little of all of us in this book." -Goodreads reviewer

"Perfect in every way - you are held by the hand through every trial and triumph. I laughed and cried and felt everything. To me, this story is an instant holiday classic and one that I’ll return to whenever I need a pick me up. Pearly by far has become one of my most favorite characters out of any book I’ve read." -Goodreads reviewer

I loved everything about this. It was absolutely delightful to be back in Pearly's world and it's CHRISTMAS! You don't need to read the first two books to read this one as the author does a great job incorporating background info throughout the story. I felt like we got a much deeper look at Pearly and Thunder's relationship in this one and I really appreciated Pearly's personal growth not only in this book but throughout the series. This book tackles some really heavy hitting topics while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend for a cozy, thoughtful, and magical holiday read!

I really enjoyed the audio narration and would highly recommend it, it's a very easy listen.

Hot Santa, Holiday Spirit & Christmas Shenanigans! Narrated by the author herself The Jingle Rebellion was pure holiday fun! Full of cozy cuteness, easy to listen, Christmas magic with humorous banter, romance, small community feels, family, and Holiday chaos.

Pearly Gates is a hilarious, unforgettable Holiday Spirit determined to save Christmas and she absolutely stole the show! Add a reluctant Hot Santa, rebellious theater kids, roller rinks, second chances, and plenty of heart, and I was ALL IN.

Funny, uplifting, Christmas magic spirits, and completely entertaining. This audiobook genuinely lifted my spirits!

I listened in under 6 hours! This is Book 3, which I didn’t realize going in, but I never once felt like I was missing anything from the previous books. It’s definitely okay to listen as a standalone!

Release date 11/01/2026.

Thank you Netgalley, Audio ARC provided by Victory Editing for the Audiobook.

Pearly Gates gets a holiday special!

When a book starts with the gingerbread men revolting, you know you’re in for a good time. Expect all the things we know and love from a Pearly Gates novel, but make it Christmas. This time, Pearly is sent back to earth to help guide a grieving soul. As per usual, she ends up helping everyone around her too – even if the line between help and overstepping gets a bit blurred.

If you’re rooting for Pearly and Thunder, their relationship gets a solid amount of airtime and we see Thunder explore his own sense of self. If you haven’t read the previous two books, I would encourage you to (because they are super) but it is not a requirement. All the key points to get you up to speed are woven into the plot.

I really enjoyed the high school setting, as well as the family dynamic and differences between a grieving partner (who is the principal) and their grieving daughter. A forbidden musical and a community rallying round to save the roller rink was a fun way to keep the holiday feel-good spirit amongst some weightier topics.

I’m pleased to report that the audiobook was just as brilliantly performed as the previous two titles in the series. There is no need to be wary of the author’s narration, Bonnie knows what she is doing!

Thanks to Bonnie Solomon, Bonsol Press and NetGalley for providing me with an advance listener copy in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This is an amazing cosy, festive and Hallmarkish story with a great message. This author really loves Christmas and it shows in her writing. I know the author is a queer writer but excellent representation of the LGBTQIA community. This is a standalone in a series of books, I highly recommend you read the series and this is a must Christmas read. I loved it so much I read it in 24 hours.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2026, and it did not disappoint. It's magical, funny, massively endearing and a huge hug of a book. It's the perfect book to read while wrapped up in a warm blanket, drinking a big mug of hot chocolate.

I was lucky enough to be part of author Bonnie Solomon's street team for this book, so I got the ARC for both the book and the audiobook, which Bonnie Solomon herself read beautifully.

The audiobook is wonderful. It's fantastic to immersive read the audiobook with the ebook, as it really brings the story to life. Hearing the author herself read the book is the best. Bonnie does an awesome job of bringing the characters to life. She brings out the humour, emotion, and heartfelt moments so well.

In this book, Pearly, in her role as spirit guide, is given the task of bringing together a fractured family. Neil and his daughter Genesis are mourning the loss of his husband and her father, Randy. He was a huge fan of Christmas, and every year he would put together the Christmas celebration at Neil's school. This year, Neil shuts down all talk of the Christmas celebration because he can't face it now that Randy is gone. Their daughter is furious with this decision, and she, along with her friends, Pearly and her partner Thunder, work together to put on a celebration without Neil.

Along the way, they all become close and share their lives and experiences with one another.

Will they succeed and have an amazing Christmas celebration? Will Genesis and Neil resolve their issues? Grab yourself a copy of this beautiful book and find out. I recommend reading it immersively, and hearing the author read it as you follow along makes it even more fabulous.

Although I am so sad to say goodbye to this beautiful world and fantastic characters, this is a truly fitting final book and a wonderful way to end the series. It's a series I will hold dear to my heart, and come back to time and time again.

Many thanks to the author, NetGallery and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

The jingle rebellion is a heartwarming and sweet holiday novel about love, community and holiday cheer. But it is also more than that. It’s also a story about grief and burnout and finding your way to yourself and those you love. Even though this novel offers plenty of laughs there are also some more somber moments that tugs at your heartstrings.

Don't fret if you haven't read the first book in the series, I did not find it to be necessary in order to follow the plot, it works great as a stand alone novel. I absolutely loved the magic and the worldbuilding in this novel and I am looking forward to reading more Pearly Gates novels!

Pearly is a really charming and endearing protagonist and you can't help but root for her and Thunder. And of course I love the queer normative perspective and queer representation in this novel. We need more books with queer love and queer joy! I also really enjoyed the narration by the author!

So let me just start out by saying that I absolutely LOVE this entire series!
Bonnie Solomon... you are on to something good here!!

In this rendition, Pearly is sent to work as a custodian at a local HS where the Principal has just 'cancelled' Christmas because he is still grieving over the loss of his husband. Totally understandable that he's grieving, but so is his daughter... and so are all the townspeople who knew him. This is just not fair! Why doesn't he want ANYONE to have any cheer at Christmastime??

So, Pearly is in the HS and hearing all the talk about Christmas and the mean principal... And she thinks that a HS Holiday Musical may be just the thing to do to restore happiness and cheer to the town... And so, off she goes! She gets a bunch of the HS kids involved, and they are doing a fine job!!! Putting costumes together. Practicing every day. Writing up all the scenes. Even singing!!! It's incredible... That is... Until... the principal finds out! (Insert choking noise...)

So now there's a dilemma. He forbids the kids having a play and wants all the props and all returned back to the school. But have no fear... Pearly (and her co-hort Thunder...) have ideas! And they have no intentions of stopping if the kids still want to go through with the play!!

This was sweet, kind, magical, sad, and all-engulfing in a beautiful kind of way!! And funny too!! The scenes that caught me off guard: The Boogie Dancing Christmas Tree and the conversations in the horse drawn wagon with all the kids.

All the stars for me for bringing out all the emotions one can have!!
