Description
A Girl from Burma
A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Triumph
By Miss Moe (PharmD)
She crossed oceans to find a better life. Along the way, she discovered her own worth.
Born into a traditional Chinese-Burmese family in Yangon, Myanmar, Moe grew up in a world where daughters were expected to respect tradition, follow the rules, and put family first. Yet she dreamed of independence and a life beyond the expectations placed upon her.
At eighteen, she left Burma alone for Australia, carrying ambition, curiosity, and hope. What began as an educational journey became a story of love, heartbreak, betrayal, and self-discovery.
Her journey eventually brought her to the United States, where she faced financial hardship, cultural barriers, the demanding years of pharmacy school, and a life-threatening car accident. Each challenge tested her determination, but she refused to let her circumstances define her future.
Through education, entrepreneurship, perseverance, and financial independence, Moe rebuilt her life and discovered that true success is not measured solely by professional achievements or wealth, but by the freedom to make her own choices.
A Girl from Burma: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Triumph is a deeply personal story about immigration, cultural identity, family expectations, women's independence, resilience, and the courage to begin again.
For anyone who has ever felt underestimated, struggled to belong, experienced heartbreak, or dreamed of creating a different life, this memoir offers a powerful reminder:
Your past may shape you, but it does not have to define your future.
From Burma to the World. Still Becoming Me.
