The tides decide who leaves Holy Island. This Christmas, a killer decides who stays.

Holy Island promises peace, pilgrimage trails and the haunting beauty of the Northumberland coast. The awesome foursome arrive on the island for a Christmas break – Frederick desperate to see the wading birds, Edna instantly dreading the tides, Horace charming everyone in sight and Marjorie already quietly suspicious of everyone she meets.

But on the first night, Frederick – torch in hand and boots already ruined – stumbles quite literally over a body in a bird hide. The victim has spent months blocking the sale of a beloved island business to a ruthless developer who always gets her way. Now she’s dead. Someone got exactly what they wanted.

The police are quick to reach their conclusion: a tragic accident, nothing more. But Marjorie has her doubts – and she’s never been wrong yet.

With a cast of locals harbouring more secrets than Edna has wigs, a killer very much still on the island and Christmas rapidly becoming the last thing on anyone’s mind, someone here is counting on getting away with murder. But they haven’t met Marjorie.

A cozy festive mystery for fans of Richard Osman, M.C. Beaton and Robert Thorogood – where the tides are unpredictable, the locals are complicated and a cup of tea never goes amiss.
