All she wanted for Christmas was to stay a thousand miles away. . .

Erin VanderDeen swore she'd never return to Holland, Michigan, but when a family "emergency" drags her home, disaster strikes before she even deplanes: a handsome stranger ruins her favorite sweater. . . and then proceeds to walk off with her luggage. Erin is certain her week can't get any worse.

That is, until the suitcase thief shows up at her parents' dinner table.

Donovan De Jong is everything Erin usually keeps off her radar: he’s outgoing, perceptive, and—as a member of the Deaf community—far too good at reading the emotions she tries to hide behind her silence.

Caught between her family’s noise and the quiet connection she feels with Donovan, Erin begins to see how God might be using this chaotic return to open a door to the healing she’s avoided for years. But moving on means letting her guard down—and finally letting herself be understood.
