Mr. Waldorf is off to Texas. But he's somehow lost his spectacles and he can't see very well without them. He asks us to help him find his spectacles, but in the meantime, Mr. Waldorf is going to do some sightseeing and have a little fun. He connects with real cowboys in Dallas and learns some new moves in country dancing. He even plays a little bit of football and, when he arrives in Austin, he tastes some hot sauce ... only to find that it's too hot for him. And still, Mr. Waldorf can't find his spectacles. However, he doesn't let that get him down and he enjoys his travels through the state of Texas, and he shares with the reader all of his experiences and all that he learns about the people and the history of Texas.Beth Ann Stifflemire and Barbara Terry have created a lovely, educational picture book about Texas. The Spectacular World of Waldorf: Mr. Waldorf Travels to the Great State of Texas is very colorfully illustrated with lots of interesting images to complement the story. The plot follows Mr. Waldorf's travels through the state, with occasional references to his missing spectacles, which the reader will often see on the page accompanied with an image relevant to that part of the story, like the spectacles flashing out of an giant oil derrick near Houston. There are a lot of big words in this story, but each word is presented in such a way that the young reader not only learns the new word, but also understands what it means. This is a really fun book, that's also really informative. In the book Mr Waldorf travels all over Texas after he loses his glasses and starts out looking for them. He hits some of the state highlights such as the main cities and the Alamo. Its a really fun way for kids to learn whilst they read.

A comical Labrador is the latest hit in the new children's book travel series, THE SPECTACULAR WORLD OF WALDORF Mr. Waldorf Travels to the Great State of Texas, The second largest state in the US by both area and population, and featured in the first installment by Beth Ann Stifflemire and Barbara Terry.
Mr. Waldorf is a lovable and adventurous canine on a voyage to see the United States and the world.
His first stop is the State of Texas where he meets cowboys, learns to line dance, rides a bull, attends the rodeo, and hurdles cattle. He visits the Alamo, the famous River Walk, and historic sites, and explores Dallas and meets all sorts of friends.
In Dallas, he attends football games, and makes his way to Houston, San Antonio, and the state capital, Austin where he discovers beautiful and sweet smelling wildflowers. From oil, a judge in hot sauce competition, and plenty of spicy Mexican food.
With bold colorful illustrations, ideal for kids ages seven-nine. From second-third grade reading level. In addition, younger children will enjoy the images while parents or older siblings read to them.
My granddaughter, Avery is in AIG classes (3rd grade) and she gives the series her “thumbs up and seal of approval!” My grandson, Brady, (1st grade) loved the adventure with lots of fun along the way.

Mr. Waldorf loves to read and needs his specs. He tends to lose them along the way. Readers will need to help him find them. This comical Labrador draws children into his whimsical adventures in search of his lost reading spectacles for a little mystery.
The strong visual narrative makes this an appealing choice for a wide range of ages. By the turn of the last page, children will immediately begin imagining the next adventure.

The Spectacular World of Waldorf: Mr. Waldorf Travels to the Great State of Texas by Beth Ann Stefflemire and Barbara Terry is a colorful new series of picture books for young children and early readers. Mr. Waldorf is a loveable Labrador who frequently looses his spectacles. As he searches for his glasses, he visits several of the major cities and sites of Texas and tries new activities. The colorful pictures will thrill children and they will enjoy helping to find the glasses. As Mr. Waldorf engages the young reader in helping him find his glasses, he teaches them geography, famous landmarks and the joy of making new friends. This is the first in a new series and will have young readers asking for the next in the series.
