Severely abused as a child, Dr. Grant Chapman is a multi-phobic computer
genius who believes in NASA's mission to far space, but is too afraid
to make the trip. His best friend—NASA rogue, con artist, and
trouble-shooter, Billy Jepler—drugs Grant and launches him into space.
When Grant emerges from stasis, he finds the other nauts dead, a
section of the ship battered shut, and the ecological balance of the
Galileo threatened. His only companions are two miniature poodles and
SINDAS, the ship's self-initiating, yet common-sense-challenged,
computer.
In the blackness of space, Grant confronts his fears and finds a power that challenges the traumatic memories of his abuse.

It is a story of forgiveness and GODs intervention and Grace for redemption. It has topics in it, one that is near and dear to my heart, child abuse. It has some Christian intervention. There is one SURPRISING ending. It is about overcoming intense fears and phobias.

It was an okay read but within the genre its not groundbreaking. But a nice little vacation read.

What an enjoyable read! Grant, a man who walked from Georgia to Texas to avoid riding in a car or flying in a plane is kidnapped and sent to live in space in an experimental ship named Galileo with 3 biospheres!
Grant suffers from blackouts when he gets stressed because of an abusive father and he has to survive alone in space with 2 poodles, a cage of kestrels, and a bunch of farm animals !
Grant also has to go outside the ship and make repairs or he will die - but he meets with someone who changes his life there!

What an unexpected delight. The book was a constant surprise throughout and the twist at the end was totally unforeseeable. An amazingly well written book with a narrative that was captivating throughout. I felt like I was there on that space vessel. The imagery was amazing and I could see everything clearly in my mind. The plot was well thought out and there was never a dull moment. Would recommend this to young and old readers. Would make a great movie script.

Well done Sci-Fi story delivers Christian inspirational message.
Not what I expected. Well done Sci-Fi story with all too believable theme of child abuse preventing adult to trust others. Trust is the primary issue with main character. How it impacts his ability to function independently linked to Earth by only a radio comm line. Conditions leading up to Inspirational events handled smoothly with a rather light touch, compared to most in the genre of Religion/ Inspirational Christianity.
