After reading Hanging Mary by Susan Higginbotham, which is about a woman who was part of the conspiracy to kill Lincoln, I wanted to read this book about Laura Keene, who held Lincoln during his death. This was really such a beautiful book that left me speechless and fascinated. Laura Keene had a very interesting life. Some of them were sad, yet she had some triumphs. I found her to be a very determined and strong character. This was a very emotional read and thought-provoking, and the last words will linger with you long after you have read the last page. I encourage to read it for you will not be disappointed. This book is a great tribute to this obscure historical figure and her story needs to be heard.
