I love Dragon as a character and this Halloween book doesn't disappoint! Welcome back to your favorite children's series and enjoy the fall season with this book!

I really like the Dear Dragon books to teach youngsters to read. They are similar to the books I learned to read with, but seriously updated. The illustrations are fresh and when I read this with my grandson, he loved talking about the pictures and using them as clues for the words.
In this book a young boy and his dragon celebrate autumn with several activities. The raking and playing in the leaves were fun. They then dress up for halloween and go to a party where Dragon wins the best costume prize. A very simple story with repetitive words for our new readers. I love the extra things at the back for teachers and parents such as word lists, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension activities. A great book for primary classrooms and family libraries.

Very Cute! I really like the Dear Dragon books. Love MCP too. Have used their material for a long time with students to much success.
A great fall early reader. Starts out with come color recognition. Then the boy and his dragon pick up fall leaves, pick out a pumpkin and decorate it, get costumes and go to a Halloween party.
Big fan of the Reading Reinforcement section in the back with vocabulary connections. It also has a list of 65 words used.
I would use it with my beginning readers. Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a digital copy to read in exchange for a review.
I have read the series for Dear Dragon, from the beginning, I think. I have really enjoyed the book and as a teacher I have read it to my students over the years. They have enjoyed the series as well. Great series!

This will be a great addition to the library. Kids love the Margaret Hillert books and having one on Halloween is even better. It's so easy to get a kid to read with these books. The kids are usually sold on reading them before I recommend them because the other kids love them so much.
