Description
Another
rare and unusual creature has been delivered to the macabre estate at 1313 Road
to Nowhere in Foggy Point, Maine. This is a place where the magical is real and
the bizarre is normal. Welcome to the Monsterjunkie Manor.
Ah,
but all is not well in the quirky, gothic Monsterjunkie world. Outside forces
are scheming to rid them from the area while the teens and their friends cope
with harassment for being different. Of course, it does not help that the name
itself brings suspicion and rumors about what goes on at this mysterious
mansion.
Will their private world be exposed? Can the Monsterjunkies continue to carry on their peaceful ancestral legacy in the world of cyptozoology and helping endangered species while coping with these dark distractions?

review: Warm,
smart and educational.
From
Shein comes the YA tale of a family for whom cryptozoology is a way of life. Ninth-grader
Cromwell "Crow" Monsterjunkie lives with his family near Foggy Point,
Maine. His parents, Talon and Pandora, use their mansion as a sanctuary for rare
and endangered creatures. In dealing with the bullies, Herpetologist Shein wraps
a classic tale of conformity in some gorgeously gothic paper. Warm, smart and
educational.

Loved the book. Unexpected story. Surprised me, Great for teenagers and about to be teenagers... :D
Fantasy themed with a little bit of Jurassic Park in it ( Not Dinasaurs! ).

Boy would I love to be involved in a zoo like the Monsterjunkie compound. To see and touch such creatures would be amazing. I liked how Shein is trying to deal with bullying and tolerance but was disappointed in the way the book ended. I certainly hope that there's a sequel coming soon.

I loved the magical environment and unique heartwarming characters. I got this free via net galley and I am so glad I discovered this creative author and new world. I highly recommend this book. In fact, as soon as I got through reading this book, I downloaded immediately the second and third one in the series!.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
The Monsterjunkie family moved to New England in 1913 and brought their love of exotic and endangered animals with them. Talon Monsterjunkie is a cryptozoologist, following in the footsteps of his dad and grandpa. Crow and Indigo Monsterjunkie have always been reserved, helping keep their family’s secrets and thus not getting too close to their schoolmates. However, they are ready for this to change and start making friends and inviting them to discover the secrets of the Monsterjunkies’ mansion and estate.
This book is the first in a series and seems like the target audience would be middle schoolers, based on the reading level and the lesson to do what is right regardless of what others do. The creatures described in the book were definitely my favorite part of the story. The story seemed like it jumped around a lot at the beginning, but the story converged after that. I look forward to seeing where the series goes from here.
