Description:
Candlemark & Gleam is an experiment in publishing. We consider ourselves modern anachronists – creative types dedicated to preserving the beauty and individuality of age-old publishing forms while adapting them for the digital era.
We specialize in fantastika and speculative fiction – it’s another way we want to explore what’s possible. We believe wholeheartedly in the power of imagination, and we want to promote fantastika (sci-fi, fantasy, magical realism, horror, etc.) as it deserves to be promoted: not a genre, but a way of looking at things with fresh eyes.
We’ve been told that our “genre” is sf/f/wtf, or possibly “qüirky” fiction.
Run with it.
Publisher Preferences:
Thank you for your interest in Candlemark & Gleam.
We love interacting with passionate readers of fantastika - science fiction,
fantasy, magical realism, horror, and more - and we carefully consider each request to review one of our titles. We almost always approve requests from bookstore buyers, librarians with purchasing power, library program managers,
educators in relevant disciplines, reviewers for dedicated review sites or publications,
and audiobook and foreign publishers. We will carefully consider all other requests.
We also maintain reviewer and blogger mailing lists and offer special opportunities for active readers; learn more about the Field Agent program at http://www.candlemarkandgleam.com/interact/field-agents/
Request Notes:
The most common reasons for declining a request include:
1. Your NetGalley profile doesn't include a link to your blog or the website you review for.
2. You don't review for a dedicated book and/or genre interest website (we usually don't accept requests from reviewers who post their reviews only
on retailer websites like Amazon or social media networks like Goodreads or Twitter
- however, we're more likely to accept requests from reviewers who cross-post their reviews to Amazon, Goodreads, or social media outlets, so be sure to mention if you do this).
3. Your blog or website doesn't seem to be updated all that frequently or doesn't seem to feature book reviews on a regular basis.
4. Your blog or website is extremely new, or your profile information doesn't indicate your current audience.
5. Your NetGalley profile is blank or has only sparse or irrelevant information.
When reviewing, please send your finished review via NetGalley and include the name of the publication/blog, the link (for online reviews), and the date when the review will be published. If you are unable to post a review for any reason, please contact us via NetGalley to let us know why. This will enable us to approve you for future requests.
Send us an email if you have any questions!
