Strong preference will be given to librarians, booksellers, and educators, as well as professional reviewers and bloggers that have shown an interest in the sort of books we publish. We will consider all requests but we reserve the right to accept or decline on a case-by-case basis. When reviewing a request, we consider the following:
1. Profile. We expect reviewers to have a professional and updated profile, including: name and address of bookstore (for booksellers); name and address of institution, plus any professional affiliations (for librarians and educators); and links to media outlets where your reviews have appeared (for bloggers and reviewers).
2. History. We expect the reviewer to have a strong history of reviewing books in the genre of the book being requested. Ideally, the reviewer reviews books for a blog, website, podcast, print publication, library, bookstore, or other media outlet that has a reach of more than 500 people. There are rare exceptions, but we generally will not approve a request from someone who only posts reviews on social media networks or retailer websites.
3. Previous Reviews. If you have previously reviewed any of our books, or books that may be similar to the one you’re requesting, please share with us the links to the reviews (a sample of up to three will do). The reviews do not have to be glowing or even positive. Our books generally do not neatly fit neatly into genre categories, so gauging a potential reviewer’s interest is a big deal to us.
If your request is approved for a title that has not been released, we ask that you please do not publish your review until one month before the release date. Also, please send us your review via NetGalley and include the name of the publication/blog, the link (for online reviews), and the date when the review will be published.
