Lance Packer was a Peace Corps Volunteer during the 1960s in Turkey, has a Ph.D. in anthropology, and spent 27 years teaching public school in Alaska. He also spent time as a farmworker, commercial fisherman, leathersmith artisan, swimming instructor, scuba diver, sailor, and general adventurer into anything that caught his interest.
