Derrick King was born in 1954, a fifth-generation Newfoundlander. He graduated from the University of British Columbia (BASc) and Simon Fraser University (MBA). His biographical memoir, Love for a Deaf Rebel (Provenance Press) is about his marriage to Pearl, a vivacious and profoundly deaf maverick, who, unknown to him but known to her family, had paranoid schizophrenia. He left Canada because of the events in his book. After twenty years in the Netherlands, Japan, Australia, and India, he lives in Singapore. He can be contacted at ProvenancePress@gol.com
