Would recommend this if you're in America. It has some good tips. Some of the ideas are applicable outside of the US too, but only a few and I found that I'm already either doing them, or they're not really relevant to my locality. However, it's written accessibly and this should be known by every American person for sure.

This is a great book for people who don't know what to do to protect their information. We live in an age where everyone shares everything, and all that information is accessible to EVERYONE online, nothing is safe. Oftentimes we trust that people are good and share "too much" and then are sorry when our identity is stolen. Just like you shouldn't leave your purse in the front seat of your car, you shouldn't post photos online of you taking off on your vacation - no matter how exciting it is that you are leaving. This is a great way to really think about your digital footprint and avoid the pitfalls that lead to identity theft and financial ruin.

Real world, expert advice that should be used as best practices by corporations hosting any size infrastructures and environments. As an IT professional, I can vouch for the material presented in this book, as sound and helpful. The book was formatted in such a way that appeals to the non-technical Users, as well as, the savants. 'Hack-Proof Your Life Now!' will assist you in creating safe and effective habits for the digital world.

This was an excellent read for me. I am quite interested in technology. Also, with all of the hackers, and malicious software out there I found this book quite useful. The chapters on Passwords and the choices of were of help. It was interesting to learn all of the people who use simple passwords that most hackers can figure out. He helps in forming passwords that only you could remember. Some interesting stories. One example was a computer programmer who asked permission from a neighbor and his wife saying he could break into her bank within 3 days. She didn't believe him and gave her permission. The author goes on to explain how he was able to do it and the steps you can take to prevent that from happening. With the Wanna Cry virus and hackers in the news this is an excellent book for all levels of computer users. I enjoyed it.

Identity theft is rampant and even the smartest of us can become victims of it. This book, in two parts, helps us understand how and why we are vulnerable and what we can do to fix it.

I was really impressed with how the authors made it easy to understand the threats, how they happen and why we are vulnerable. All too often technical books, even those aimed at the general reader, have too much jargon, so the reader ends up confused instead of wanting to take action.

After reading the first part of the book, you'll want to take action. Then turn to the second part of the book, the Action Guide. There you will get step-by-step help to complete all these actions, including specific software recommendations.

I'm putting these into action right now.

As a person who works with full time and teaches computers part time I was ready to read this and tell everyone this was another book to blow off. In reality I thought the book was well written and quite good in it's examples. many times are similar to what I use when I teach classes.
There was one part of the book that I felt was a little too technical for the average novice that I see as the one reading the book but I think that could be forgiven.
All in all, good book.

Guide to actions to protect us from cyber threats
I can not emphasize more the importance in our days to protect themselves from cyber attack. This book brings enormous value to our lifestyle, has explanations easy to understand and apply, with examples at every step that land the information. The authors do not overwhelm us with technical terms and we go hand in hand in a series of actions that ensure that you can implement your cybersecurity.
Within the content there is a plan to have a safe online experience, indications of how we can protect our home Wi-Fi network, a systematic guide to secure important financial information and to be able to monitor identity theft, for example in social media sites, including the identity of our children. There are many tactics in the book, from the best known to the most specialized, and I also loved an Action Guide with 18 steps to do immediately, a glossary and many resources mentioned throughout the book.
It is a good book to start learning and taking action, however we must constantly update, as thieves and hackers are always improving their methods of attack.
My gratitude to the Publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to review the book
