Description
Everyone is vulnerable to a cyber attack. Regardless of your age and station in life, one simple click of the mouse can open a Pandora's Box few of us could have imagined even five years ago.
How we handle our online security is critical to protecting our personal and professional lives. But guidance for staying safe in the growing, interconnected world has been fragmented and confusing...until now.
Hack-Proof Your Life Now! demystifies the topic and introduces you to the New Cybersecurity Rules: clear, sensible, and do-able actions that will quickly improve your security.
Authors Sean M. Bailey and Devin Kropp will show you how to measure your Cybersecurity Score and then teach you to improve your safety by acting in three areas: adding more Secrecy to your online life (such as a banking-only email address that hackers won t likely discover), becoming Omniscient over your financial affairs (so you can block identity theft and instantly spot fraud), and adopting principles of Mindfulness to stay safe every day (such as using their 10-Second EMAIL rule to spot dangerous blackmail spam).
Each chapter features a Hack Report story that demonstrates a key security problem many of us face, a New Cybersecurity Rule that reduces or closes that exposure, and a specific Action Step to apply as you build up your defenses and improve your cybersecurity score. An Action Guide in the back provides extra details and helpful resources.
In just a few hours, you can learn to hack-proof your life and fight back against hackers, thieves, and spammers.

An excellent book covering all the details of the everyday e-life, offering systematic support and step-by-step plans for a hack-proof life! The book offers a plan and guidance for enjoying a safe and secured Internet life, including about how to set up a hacker-proof password, to use a VPN or to secure important financial and credit information, as well as to prevent identity thief, particularly for your minor children. The language is accessible, and high-end technical knowledge is not required. You just need to follow the steps provided and complete each stage of the process. Strongly recommended to anyone with a minimal online presence.

This is a great book for anyone who wants to learn new ways to be safer on the web because in today's world nobody is safe. There is plenty of information on the myths about the many scams, viruses and ransomware, they also provides helpful tips for security your cyber world.

As a person who works with full time and teaches computers part time I was ready to read this and tell everyone this was another book to blow off. In reality I thought the book was well written and quite good in it's examples. many times are similar to what I use when I teach classes.
There was one part of the book that I felt was a little too technical for the average novice that I see as the one reading the book but I think that could be forgiven.
All in all, good book.

Identity theft is rampant and even the smartest of us can become victims of it. This book, in two parts, helps us understand how and why we are vulnerable and what we can do to fix it.
I was really impressed with how the authors made it easy to understand the threats, how they happen and why we are vulnerable. All too often technical books, even those aimed at the general reader, have too much jargon, so the reader ends up confused instead of wanting to take action.
After reading the first part of the book, you'll want to take action. Then turn to the second part of the book, the Action Guide. There you will get step-by-step help to complete all these actions, including specific software recommendations.
I'm putting these into action right now.
