Lovely pictures of both real flowers and the embroidered versions with details to follow later in the book on how to go about embroidering them. The author breaks the techniques down and includes the best stitches to use for achieving certain affects, what areas to start with first when embroidering, and even discusses needle size relative to floss/thread thickness. I have been embroidering for a long time but am mostly self taught so, although I am not a beginner, I really picked up a lot of tips from this book. I also just really enjoyed the lovely photographs of different embroidered flowers.

I Haven't managed to open this file yet, I will persevere, and hope to be able to give feedback later.

I have now managed to open the file here is my updated review;
This beautiful book is a gem for anyone interested in embroidery. Not only instructional it also has some botanical photographs and information, plus the embroidery patterns.

I think you need to be a fairly proficient embroiderer, this book is not really for the beginner, but is certainly aspirational for anyone. I would really like to try some of the designs, and I particularly like the fact that there are some little insects to embroider too.

There are also some natural source material photographs too which are also lovely, placed on black backgrounds, the colours really stand out and you could use those to try your own sketches.

The book is laid out with the finished embroideries first followed by patterns at the end, the advice on the making of your work, including some useful notes and a section on stitches used, including thread colours used are detailed for you in the middle between the two.

Definitely an inspiring book to have in your collection.

I'm self taught when it comes to embroidery and I love it.

This is a great book for more advanced embroiders. The designs are gorgeous and the instructions are very detailed. It even includes a guide on how to do the stitches used in this book and the types of fabric/thread the author recommends to use.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the finished images came before the instructions. It would have been better, in my opinion, to have included the instructions with each finished image. Also, there were no project ideas included in this book, which I would have liked.

A gorgeous book of embroidery with incredible detail that mirrors the kinds of botanical illustrations you might find in a text book or field guide. From bulbs to roots to the actual blooms, no detail is overlooked, and the finished products are stunning. Instructions are similarly thorough, laying out the kinds of stitches to be used and the order in which to complete each design, with tips for getting the best and smoothest results. A very fine book for advanced embroiderers; I only deducted a star because I would have liked to have seen some project ideas for inspiration.
