SEXSOMNIA - SLEEPLESS IN MANHATTAN - Anya Omah

HOT! - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - Jayden is the hot but bored CEO of a major company. When an inexperienced (both personally and professionally) woman turns down a job as his assistant, he's intrigued. But as he finds out more about her and her "condition," he wants her even more.

Writing - 4 stars - I'm not sure if it's the writing that was so well done or if it was because of an excellent translation, but I found this very easy to read and comfortable in both language and idiom. I was caught up in the story right from the beginning and very much enjoyed the witty banter.

Characters - 4 stars - Abigail talks first, thinks later. She lets her temper take over, which was as frustrating as it was admirable. She runs hot and cold, definitely sending such mixed messages that no wonder Jayden was confused about her. But that might not be a bad thing since it keeps him on his toes. Jayden is jaded and bored with his personal life, so he is focusing on the job. But when Abigail blows into his office, things start to look up, and he finds himself fascinated in spite of himself. He's a little too over-the-top macho for me, but he is definitely suave, handsome, and rich. But a little too smug. And it was occasionally frustrating when it was so clear (to the reader) that if they'd each be honest with the other that things would be fine, rather than going through the pain of disillusionment.

Title - 3.5 stars - The title, actually the whole concept of the book, is weird but intriguing. It sends the reader in the right direction to know what to expect.

Cover - 4 stars - This cover is intriguing in that it shows the outline of a sexy male body, but inside the lines are other scenes.

Overall - 4 stars - OK, so the sex scenes were a little too plentiful, and I found Abby to be somewhat annoying, but overall the book was entertaining. The overall concept is unique (and admittedly weird), but it set the stage for an enjoyable, pleasant, and quick read. I particularly enjoyed the witty banter between the main characters which was often clever and entertaining, although sometimes it was a little frustrating when one of the other of them would overreact. But there was a good mix (for the most part) of romance, business, and personal. I will look for more from this author.

Sexsomnia: Sleepless in Manhattan

I Picked Up This Book Because: The blurb, I guess. Can’t actually remember why I requested it.

The Characters:

Abigail Davis:
Jayden King:
Jessica King, Alice Davis best sisters in the world (excluding my own)

The Story:

This book frustrated me so much… no, I take it back Jayen King frustrated me. He at times seemed like a spoiled brat who just lashed out when things didn’t go his way. However, I suppose he was as he states often that he is used to getting his way. I do wonder if he was raised that way though. His family information, outside of his sisters, is lacking.

Abby was a good character. I’m still wondering if her disorder is real but I’m not going to google it. She was quite brave and strong. I her background was also lacking but I suppose the author didn’t think it impacted the story much.

Overall this story was just interesting enough to keep my holding on. I love a love story and I could feel the chemistry between Jayden and Abby. Their sisters, Jess and Alice, made me smile. Jess was definitely needed to keep Jayden in line and Alice’s unwavering support of Abby touched my heart.

The Random Thoughts:

It’s hard to read an erotic book where the main character has the same name as you 14 year old nephew. I had to mentally change his name to Jason or just he for most of the book.

It was okay but not the best boo in the world. I haven't read anything by this author before and don't think I will again.

Abigail is late for her interview! Of course, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. She purchased new clothes to wear, but wound up leaving them in the store she purchased them from. So, she shows up to interview, looking like a bum, and runs slam into Jayden King, of course! He makes a smart mouth comment to him and she lets him have it!!

He should be very upset with her. He's rich and no one gets by with saying those things to him. Yet.......she intrigues him and now he must have her work for him!!

Abigail has sexual dreams and is afraid of them. She signs up to do a sleep study and find out exactly what she does at night. Good news is she gets accepted to do study. Bad news, she has so sleep with a random man.

Great story!

Sleepless in Manhattan was a great romance story that for once has an actual plot that doesn't revolve around bedroom activities.

This book was one part what I’d expect from an office romance and another part something completely different. This was an enjoyable and well written story. The book definitely fell more to the side of erotica but wasn’t too overdone.

Given some emotionally scared heroes, some troubled past and some troubled present spiced with sex... and you got this absolute delicious yummines. Jayden is your typical alpha male, who has to get his woman any means. Even if it has a price... A fast-paced wonderful and extremely hot read, that you have to get on your TBR list. A must have. You will not be disappointed, believe me. Fantastic characters, wonderfully written plot and very, very hot scenes. Fan is needed and some ice cold drink.

Abigail is one outspoken woman, but to her credit she does it justly most of the time. She is someone who would rather go without the perfect dream job rather than put up with a boss she couldn't stand to be around. But when he gives her a proposition that puts all the cards in her hand even she can't walk away from that....at least not for too long.

"Oh, come on. I Googled him a minute ago. You can't tell me you don't think he's hot. Even my cell phone was overheating."

Jayden is used to getting everything he wants, including women, but after a while it was something he grew tired of and instead of partying all the time he threw himself into his work. Abigail is the only woman, besides his sister (whom I absolutely love), that will stand up to him and speak her mind, which is exactly why he is so infatuated with her.

"Any way I can help with this fantasy you're having?"

Although Abigail and Jayden start falling for each other they both still have their secrets. She has sexsomnia and is hiding the fact that she's doing a study to try and figure out what exactly she does in her sleep. And he knows about it, but doesn't tell her...not even after she tells him everything about it. Nothing good comes from secrets.

Sexsomnia is one of those books with a little bit of everything. It has humor, sex, intrigue, a tangled web of lies, and love and passion. I absolutely loved it.

My favorite part is this conversation he has toward the beginning of the book with his sister about hiring Abigail. I absolutely love his sister. She had me completely cracking up.

Before picking this title up, I had a niggling feeling like this is going to bad with its topic of "sexsomnia." But still, I gave it a chance... until I DNF'd it. My worries of it going awry were right. Sexsomnia is a real condition that some struggle with, and the part of the book I read basically eroticized/romanticized it, and that is incredibly harmful as it is inaccurate. The way the H fantasized about the h having sex with him while she's sleeping... If you really knew how sexsomnia was like, you wouldn't wish it up on anyone. I can only hope that it didn't end up worse than he imagined for both of their sakes by the end of the book.

With a beyond interesting plot, fantastic writing, and authentic and engaging characters, this book really holds your interest from start to finish. This is the kind of book you just don’t want to put down. It has such a fresh take on the billionaire/employer-employee genre. The book is impassioned and insightful, intriguing and romantic, endearing and absolutely riveting. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet and sexy read.

I voluntarily reviewed a Readers Copy of this book.
I loved the story of Abby and Jayden.
It's very well written and I enjoyed every minute.

Disappointed. Although the sex scenes were good, the story and characters were too male-centric for me. It really distracted from the story.

Jayden King is successful and bored to death. Especially of women, who fall at his feet by the dozens. He’ll need a good assistant to help him. Abigail Davis is fresh out of grad school. She seems like the perfect fit for one of Manhattan’s most sought-after jobs. Until she suddenly withdraws her application.Abigail is struggling to overcome a traumatic past and in the process is allowing all kinds of new things into her life. The book is amazing .Jayden’s not about to take no for an answer, and changing her mind is a challenge he can’t pass up..When I started reading I couldn't put I'd down I read it in one day.Keep up the good work.I received this Arc from netgalley for honest review.

It's been awhile since I read a book like this. It had a fifty shades feel to it. There were some differences like.... Abbigail was not quite or shy around Jayden. But... Abbigail did the whole lip biting thing just like Ana did. And Jayden mentioned about Abbigail eating (totally Christian). He felt she wasn't doing enough of it.
There were other little things but those 2 things really stood out to me.

Jayden was so possessive over Abigail like Christian was with Ana. Very commanding.
I was feeling this book. I like the way Abbigail wasn't falling at Jayden's feet. She wasn't so awestruck when she saw him.. She really put up a fight.
But, once I got to the club scene. That's where things started to go a little south for me. The whole "knockout drops" thing. I wasn't felling it. I was a little disappointed by it. I felt like that storyline has been played out so many times.

Then we have the whole sexsomnia. I really wish we had gotten Abbigail's story about the incident early on. I just felt it was being dragged out as I was reading. I think I needed it to understand what Abbigail was going through. She put up such a fight about touching and not having sex. But once she meets Jayden. She pretty much let's it all go with some verbal sparring with Jayden (that's their thing).
I don't know.... It just stuck out to me about the whole touching/sex thing.. I thought she would be more hesitant then she was about it.

Jess (Jayden's sister).... I really wasn't feeling her. I felt she was too nosy and just in everyone's business. Man... she really got on my nerves. She didn't know when to just quit and let things go. She kept going and going. It really got to me.
Another thing in this book got to me too.
I hated how everyone was always using Jayden & Abbigail's whole name. It was always Jayden king this and Jayden king that. Always Abigail Davis. Throughout the whole book. Why?

Overall this was ok read for me. I was hoping for a little something different. I thought the whole sexsomnia would be it. But I think for me it fell a little short.

The name of this book totally intrigued me. I didn't actually think this was a thing. So when I found out it was I wanted to read it even more.

I was surprised to learn who had the sexsomnia in this book but it made it all the more interesting.
The characters Jayden & Abigail were written well so the interest was kept throughout the book.

I really enjoyed this & some of the phrases were brilliant.

A quick read but one that's worth it.

Needs 7 stars. This story was unlike nothing I have read before, the plot was so original. This books had a mix of so many different emotions running through it. I laughed at the beginning cried in the middle and cried and yelled at the end The characters Abigail and Jayden have such an interesting chemistry and relationship that I was fighting for them until the end. This story had some fun parts and serious parts, the author did a great job describing the emotions that Abigail was going through and had gone through while helping the reading understand trust starts within. Thank you NetGalley and Anya Omah for letting me read this book and write a honest review.
