Kylie Scott really nailed this YA novel. The intense hard core moments are balanced out so delicately with the emotional sensual ones. My wish is that Kylie writes a second book and creates a series.

Edie and John find themselves on the brink of possible death the night they meet. The convenience store Edie goes into to buy movie snacks gets held up by a meth addict who they holds her hostage, along with John and another kid. The experience was nightmarish and Edie has both mental and physical scars from it. Not everyone made it out alive and John carries some guilt for that. He changes his ways and tries to become a better person. He strives to have a purpose in his life and is trying to find his way on a new path. Edie sort of goes off the rails a bit and starts to rebel a little, does not study nearly as much and generally just floats through life for a while. She doesn't want to live in the shadows so much any more and I gave her a lot of credit for that. Her mother didn't take the change too well and tried to fight her on it quite a bit. Edie and John form a friendship and understanding since they both understood what the other one went through that night. I liked how both of them tried to be there for the other and didn't just sugarcoat things. I liked the progression of their feelings and their relationship and felt it was well done. Their road was not always a smooth one but they did learn to depend and trust each other which was a huge thing for both of them. This book really was one I enjoyed and was grateful to receive an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm sort of off New Adult/Young Adult, angst-ridden, overly dramatic novels. They seem to be everywhere and despite the variations within each story, they tend to read the same to me. This was the same, yet different. Yes, it was about teenagers who share a tragic event, so there was definitely some dark subject matter here, but the port of the story that kept moving forward was how Edie went on living and healing. No, it wasn't super inspirational, either. It was more matter of fact, which is perhaps why I liked it. It didn't get too deep into the angst and insecurities. We didn't dwell too long in Edie's head as she overanalyzed herself nor did we hear too much about her lusting over John (though certainly there were mentions of this).
It was well written and the story kept moving. I'll admit to being pleasantly surprised by the subject matter. (I wasn't surprised by the writing as I've been reading Kylie Scott for years and trust her to put words together on a page.) I found myself enjoying the story and the characters despite having half made up my mind that since it was YA/NA that I wasn't going to enjoy it.

Trust is one of those books that captivated me from the first chapter. I was glued to the pages, my heart was racing, and my palms were sweating. Kylie Scott really put it all out there at the start of this book. I didn’t read the blurb and I did not see that coming at all. I love books that are emotional and intense and this definitely was both of those things.
Edie and John go through something big together. Something that is traumatic and life changing. They help each other get through it. Neither of them think it’s likely that they will see each other again, they’re from different parts of town, but when Edie decides she’s had enough at her private school and goes to the local public school, John is there.
The two of them have a connection, a bond. John and Edie couldn’t be more different, at least that is how it appears. But they have more in common than one would think. And this experience that has brought them together cements that even more. John is the only person who ‘gets’ what Edie is going through. He’s there for her when she needs him. When her other friends bailed, when her mom just doesn’t understand, John is there. He gets it.
I thought John was an amazing hero. He wasn’t perfect and he made mistakes in his past, but he had a lot of growth. He wanted to be better. This experience had that effect on him. It didn’t effect Edie quite the same way, but I think different people are effected by things in different ways and that’s okay.
I’ve read most of Kylie Scott’s books, and this was different for her. I think she did a great job with this book. It’s one that made me feel and stayed on my mind for quite a while after reading it. It’s more of a mature YA, and I hope to see more books like this from Scott in the future!

4-4.5 brilliant stars
I absolutely adored Trust, it was refreshing, fast paced, unique, emotional and poignant. So different from Kylie's other books yet it was amazing! The story starts really good with me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what will happen next!
Edie and John's journey is full of emotions and I'm so glad I have the opportunity to read it!The relationship that Edie builds with John is something else. Both characters are original and unique.Eddie is one of the most strongest heroines I have ever read! She is also funny and so lovable.John omg this boy stole my heart. He is a swoon worthy hero and I loved that he wanted to change and be better.
Overall it was an amazing story that I would recommend it to readers over 16 for sure.I wish we can see more books like this from Kylie, she doesn't stop surprising me each time I read a new book by her!

Edie and John are seniors in high school and meet in explosive circumstances. Their lives and priorities will never be the same after facing death.
This was an easy read and I was captivated from the beginning. It's a realistic view of high school, the cliques, the bullying and other social aspects. But it was all that and so much more. Edie and John were a great couple, totally different people. The friendship moved up a level and I was cheering for them.
Well done Kylie Scott for venturing into the YA world, I loved it.

Trust is a good read. I read the blurb and wanted to it read. I'm not sure what I expected but the way it started took me by surprised and sucked me in. The beginning part is so detailed that I could so see it playing out on tv as a movie. Edie wants snacks and heads to the store. Would should have been a quick munchies grab is anything but. The store gets robbed while she is there. John also happens to be at the store too. John and Edie haven't meet before that night. That night changes both of them. I loved both characters. We don't get a lot about how they were before the robbery but we learn enough to see how they changed after it. I loved reading how they grew together. It's not easy for them but they bond and form a great relationship. My heart went out to both John and Edie and I wanted to jump through the pages and give them a hug.

Having read books by the author before, I was hoping for an enjoyable read. What I received was a bold, full bodied story that completely dragged me into the pages and left me desperate for more. I love YA/NA stories, but from just the blurb I knew this would be something a little different. The plot was edgy and set the book apart from others in the genre. I loved that it was realistic without being boring. It touched upon subjects that as young adults, many of us struggle with. But, at the same time, the events that took place were completely different to what most of us (hopefully) will ever experience in life.
This was perfectly written and the characters were likeable. I also felt that the secondary characters made themselves heard in a way that i would love a novella to see where their story ends up. A solid 5 stars!

A YA book from Kylie Scott, creater of Mal bloody Ericson? Yes please!
A harrowing experience for a young Edie takes its toll. There that dreaded night was a shining light. John. A boy who has his fair share of troubles.
A change of school, some great girls and a kindred spirit may be just what Edie needs to get her life back on track and also help someone else in the process.
There was a song going through my head reading this: Issues by Julia Michaels. Not sure why, maybe how you deal with life, admitting things to yourself and knowing there is someone there who just gets you.
John stood out for me in this book, he stole my heart....'He nodded like it was decided. Because it was.'
I've read all this author's work and loved each one. I also love YA books and this has all the components of a fantastic read, I was glued to it.

I was completely sucked into this from the start; the opening chapter grabs and refuses to let go. This YA romance breaks a lot of rules, just like plus-sized teen Edie does after surviving a hellish nightmare. Her near brush with death completely throws her quiet existence in disarray and the only person who can possibly understand is John, the gorgeous drug dealer that saved her life.
Edie is more than just a broken victim - her struggles with PTSD and finding peace are realistic in their bleakness. But she refuses to let this define her and the slowly emerging "new" Edie is fantastic. I loved that Edie stood up for herself more and more, and in doing so, found hidden strengths and new friends. Btw, her new bestie Hang is just about the best BFF character ever. I was so bummed that Hang got a sort of HEA because I hoped for Hang to get a book of her own.
The connection between Edie and John starts as one between survivors, then as friends, and then more. I have to admit that I preferred the first half of the book when Edie was finding her own stride to when she and John's relationship changed. Spoiler: I've never been a fan of the "best-friend-offers-to-take-her-virginity-because-he's-secretly-in-love-with-her" trope and this turn of events was an unwelcome detour from Edie and John's growing bond. Although John thoroughly redeems himself by trying to impress Edie's protective mom.
I also wanted more conclusive answers in the end: what about Hang and Anders? Dillon? College? But my trust in Kylie Scott as a storyteller (pun intended) tells me that Edie and John's HEA is all the reader needs at the end. 4.5 stars.

Constantly disappointed in this genre. At least this one came closer to having depth.

This novel is brilliant. I was hooked from the very first chapter as it jumps straight into the robbery, which was written and described so well. As it sets up the rest of the novel, I really appreciated the fact that it wasn't rushed through.
I devoured this book, as in I started it Saturday evening, tore myself away from it to go to sleep at 1am, and the first thing I did upon waking was finish it. It was that good! The story is so sweet, I fell in love with John and Edie because they are both so perfect - flaws and all - and the side characters are pretty amazing which is fairly rare.
I love how John would reel Edie back in when she started to get out of control, and how endearing their friendship was. It was obvious that the two of them cared for each other a lot and it was nice that there was no sudden jump to a full blown relationship. It was gradual, it was realistic and it was everything I want in a YA/New Adult novel. Honestly, I can't express just how much I loved this novel.

Kylie Scott grabbed me from the 1st page and held me captive till the very end. Edie and John are brought together by untimely circumstances. I loved these characters. Edie didn't allow herself to remain a victim. She was strong, funny and endearing. John previously had the bad boy image and reputation. However, after his shared experience with Edie, he decides to change his ways. Both characters are changed by their circumstances. I enjoyed the realism in the storyline. I highly recommend it!

This book is an absolutely fantastic coming of age N/A book, infact it’s a fantastic book what ever age!
Edie is a good girl, almost 18 and a grade A student at her private school, the perfect teenager. She’s mostly a happy girl even though she endures bullying at school and feels worthless just because they pick on her being a little chubby. Until one night, she survives a robbery that goes tragically wrong. John Cole, the complete opposite of Edie in all ways, not a great Student, sells drugs, and lives and is influenced by his addict brother. But on that tragic night he risks his own life to save Edie. Both these young people’s lives are hugely altered by this event. This story takes us through their anguish, right from the word go. When everyone seems to be pulling them down and they are coping with betrayal from friends, can they work a way to come to terms with everything including their growing feelings for each other.
WOW this book packs a punch right from the first page where the drama begins and it doesn’t stop till the end. I was hooked right away. Edie had me laughing and crying at the same time, her emotions were so heartfelt right through this book. John seems to calm and steady and determined to change his life for the better, and how these two came together just melted my heart. With everything against them their hearts shone through. When your a teenager life should be fun right? When your trust and beliefs, are shattered and you have faced death, what do you do? I literally couldn’t and didn’t want to put this book down and neither will you. One of the most captivating books i have read this year !

3 stars and that's me being generous.
Throughout the book I kept checking to see if this was indeed a Kylie Scott book...
Not her usual writing style for sure but my problem was the flow, every time I opened the book I was completely lost. It deals with some heavy issues and it has a few good moments but overall I didn't connection with the characters and I don't get all the hyped reviews.
I liked John and Edie separately and as friends, I didn't buy their romance but I liked them as individuals.

i loved Kylie Scott stage dive series (i only read the first book) but anyways thats besides the point i was really excited when heard that she was coming with a young adult book what i loved about Trust was that she handle PTSD and all the other stuff (i.e bullying, drugs and trigger warnings) with alot of thought and care
STOP WHATEVER YOU ARE DOING AND GO READ THIS

Wow. This story has left me speechless!
It starts with a bang and then it's a slowburn development throughout the rest of the book.
It's not totally YA but the main characters are seniors in high school.
It has that YA feeling of insecurity but on top of that, there are these much more mature feelings that stem from the near death experience the MC's had together.
I really love the female lead, Edie. Her personal development is phenomanel and she's someone I wouldn't mind spending time with in real life.
I also love the secondary characters - Hang and Anders - and I'd love to read their story at some point.
The male lead, John, was more of a hmmm character since I didn't feel like I really got to know him. But I think that comes from the one-sided POV.
So, to sum it up: I loved it and I'm hoping it might become a series so we can keep enjoying these characters.

4.5*
Brilliant mix of drama, humor, and romance! Managed to effectively address the stress that comes with horrific events that force its characters to face their own mortality, while still have the cute, light-hearted scenes that put a smile on your face. Loved it!

I've really enjoyed all the Kylie Scott books I've read previously, (who can forget Mal?! *swoon*) and this one was no different. A foray into a much more serious topic, Scott has done really well with this book.
It takes a serious topic and shows how such an event can affect a person and their life. How in an instant things can change for them. I loved watching the characters come to realisations and get to know each other and then grow from that.
I really enjoyed this one, definitely recommend.

Allow me to preface this review by saying, this is not the kind of Kylie Scott book you're used to reading. Trust is firmly in the Young Adult genre. There are no rock stars, there is no bar, but there is the really intense connection between the two main characters that we've come to expect from one of our favorite romance writers.
In Trust, seventeen year old Edie's life is blown apart when she's held hostage in a traumatic convenience store robbery. In the aftermath of her experience she leaves her private all girls school to attend the local public school. There, armed with her knew devil-may-care perspective on life, she befriends the older boy who saved her life during the robbery. John is a reformed bad boy with the sad backstory to prove it. He's also really hot.
Trust is the story of Edie and John learning to move on from tragedy when their entire world has been changed. It's a story of first lust, first love and self-discovery. Plus, when has Kylie Scott ever let us down when it comes to a hot bad boy?
