Description

Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love…the first time someone holds a gun to your head.

After being held hostage during a robbery at the local convenience store, seventeen-year-old Edie finds her attitude about life shattered. Unwilling to put up with the snobbery and bullying at her private school, she enrolls at the local public high school, crossing paths with John. The boy who risked his life to save hers.

While Edie’s beginning to run wild, however, John’s just starting to settle down. After years of partying and dealing drugs with his older brother, he’s going straight—getting to class on time, and thinking about the future.

An unlikely bond grows between the two as John keeps Edie out of trouble and helps her broaden her horizons. But when he helps her out with another first—losing her virginity—their friendship gets complicated.

Meanwhile, Edie and John are pulled back into the dangerous world they narrowly escaped. They were lucky to survive the first time, but this time they have more to lose—each other.

Being young is all about the experiences: the first time you skip school, the first time you fall in love…the first time someone holds a gun to your head.

“Heart-pounding, realistic and wonderfully unique, Kylie Scott's Trust held me captive, fascinated, and riveted to the page from start to finish. A MUST, simply incredible, read!” –Katy EvansNew York Times bestselling author of Tycoon

“The thing that will have readers flocking to this book isn’t the sex, or the premise, or Kylie Scott’s fine reputation…. [It’s] the authenticity. Readers will pick up TRUST because the characters seem like real teenagers – they’re excitable and insecure and daggy and funny and immature and growing up.” Ellie Marney, author of Every Breath

Trust was an amazing journey that I could not put down! All of my favorite things: young love, a strong heroine, and an absolutely captivating hero, who’s both sexy and bad in alllll the right ways. Loved it!” –Penelope DouglasNew York Times bestselling author of the Fall Away Series

Wonderfully relatable. This is a story about discovering how you want to be, instead of who you want to be which is much more realistic. John and Edie have to make hard decisions about how they want to be perceived and how they want to live. The author does an excellent job of highlighting some hard truths about life, relationships, and perceptions that are often overlooked. I could identify with majority of the issues Edie and John faced and overcame, since it is scary similar to my husbands and my relationship in the early years (minus the store robbery, skateboarding, and race). This is my first read from this author, but definitely not my last.

Loved this book! The conversational style writing and language used made me feel like I was Edie's friend and she was confiding in me. Quick simple read with lots of 'SO CUTE!" moments

Another great book from Kylie Scott. Easy to read but has a gritty story line. It will make you laugh, cry and cringe like all good stories. You will love these characters.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars. This was a realistic coming of age romance. I thought it was engaging and extremely well done. Full of honest emotions with a believable storyline. A sign of a good book, when you’re still thinking about it days after completion!
Do I recommend it? Yes
Genre: YA bordering on NA
POV: Edie’s only
Writing: 4.5/5 stars. Very strong writing. Some of Kylie Scott’s books have been only 3 stars for me, while others have been 5 stars. As this seems to be a departure from her ‘usual’ genres, I thought it was some of her strongest writing to date.
Story/Plot: 5/5 stars. While really not overly unique, it wasn’t your usual overdone fare either.
Characters: 5/5 stars. Really believable and relatable characters.
Emotions: 5/5 stars. This book had all the emotions; fear, anger, sadness, happiness, love, light angst.
Flow/pacing: 5/5 stars. I felt this flowed perfectly.
Steam: 3.5/5 stars.
HEA: Yes. Felt the drama at the very end unnecessary, but overall really enjoyed this book!
Will I read this author again? Yes, Kylie Scott is pretty much an auto-buy author for me.

OMG this book is AMAZING!!!
As a reader i'm still pretty new to reading YA/NA books, after a lifetime of passing them over and of thinking that I was too old to read them or that they just wouldn't live up to a modern contemporary, this book is enough proof of why I have been so very wrong to avoid reading them. Recently I decided I needed to broaden what I read as things were becoming a little "same old thing" and I realised that stories like this id have missed out on all this time.
Trust is a story about two people coming together in a time of need that wouldn't normally have happened without the circumstance that is thrust upon them, they find themselves being drawn together as they learn to cope with the aftermath of the tragedy and trauma that they lived through during a robbery at gunpoint at a convenience store.
John Cole is a great character, he is the handsome bad boy who used to be the school drug dealer and he just happens to be one of the popular guys that all the girls want to be with. He finds himself bonding with Edie after the robbery and becomes her protector as she is the only one that can help him deal with what they both went through.
Edie's character I really liked and could really connect to her. She is the overweight insecure girl that has been bullied all her life at school and so she decides that after her life threatening experience she doesn't care anymore and goes a little wild and starts getting into trouble. John and Edie through their friendship become one anothers saviour as they learn to trust in each other and help each other to heal the hidden scars that they both carry.
This story was both hard hitting and gritty and it felt like it could all have been real. It's full of teenage drama and life experiences that could only have happened in your worst nightmares. It's about forming friendships as well as ending one's that you thought were unbreakable and would never end, and it's also about learning to never judge someone for who the were not who they can become. This was a fast paced gripping read for me that gave me thrills and chills along the way, it truly deserves every one of it's 5 stars!
