Wow. What an intense read!
I hadn't read the description to this book before plunging in. I am kind of glad I didn't. I had no idea where this was headed.
This book was all I could have asked for. So many intense scenes. I couldn't wait for the next one!
Read it. You will not be disappointed.

TRUST by Kylie Scott is gritty, raw and achingly real with the right amount of romance to give you all the feels. Unlike anything I have read before, Kylie Scott explores the places that someone can go to when faced with a life or death situation.

TRUST begins quite innocently with two teens going to the corner store to get snacks for the night in but it all changes within minutes. Edie had no idea that the minor task of getting provisions for the night in with her BFF would quickly spiral out of control into a nightmare of blood and death, but that is exactly what happens when Edie becomes a victim of a robbery gone horribly wrong. She is held hostage but it saved by a mysterious stranger that she cannot stop thinking about.

Having faced death Edie begins to question everything and is unwilling to be a quiet bystander in her life anymore especially when the school bully decides to make her a target. Edie refuses to back down and it becomes quickly apparent that this school, these classmates and this path is not what she wants anymore. She then enrolls in a public school where she sees her savior, John. The old Edie would have avoided him but not anymore and as they cross paths they know that their shared trauma is something that no one else can understand and so a friendship is formed. Their relationship is the talk of the school because John was the resident bad boy that has recently done a complete 360 while Edie, the new girl seems hell bent on changing her complacent life into something else altogether.

When I began reading TRUST I was not sure what to expect for because I knew that Kylie could master a romantic comedy quite well but could she bring on the depth of emotions that would come when tackling two people that were changed by a life altering event. I am most happy to say Yes!! Yes!! and Yes!! Kylie Scott didn't hold anything back so when you read about Edie and John you know and understand them. Their struggles, their pain, and their separate journeys that somehow bring them together and make them a couple.

If you are looking for a story that is a bit grittier while being refreshingly real then TRUST is the book for you. It will make you look at what makes one tick and how a traumatic experience can change you and how you need someone to trust to bring you back and keep you sane.

From the very first chapter I was completely sucked in. My nerves were shot and my heart was racing. I'm used to Kylie's romance books and this was a nice change of pace. High never seemed so dramatic. Crazy but addicting.

While the players may be in high school, I wouldn't consider this a YA book. NA or maybe even Mature YA. Quite a few descriptions were more on the mature side of things. But it works for me.

I hope we get more of these types of stories from Kylie.

I came into this expecting a steamy read - I got that and more! The character development and AMAZING supporting characters made this so much more than a romance. The characters of Anders and Hang added such a great element to the story. My only issue would be the cover - this story is so much more and I wish it reflected that!

Edie Millen, clad in her PJs goes to The Drop Store (convenience store) for snacks for a movie marathon, to be caught up on a robbery. She is held at gunpoint and an unlikely champion emerges. John, one of the boys in the store

Edie never realized that her life could change so drastically in the blink of an eye. She decides to make a bunch of changes in her life and changes schools, only to realize that the school she transferred into houses the boy who saved her from certain death and they forge a bond from the results of that night.

3.5 stars!! I haven't read many Kylie Scott books but this one screamed at me to read. While I am in the minority I had a hard time really getting into this book. It had all the ingredients that I love, angst, emotion and a heart tugging story but I struggled to connect with the characters in the first instance. In this mature YA, Kylie Scott really delivers once this story found its feet and I'm glad that I persevered until the end.

"I might not win every battle, but I was more than willing to fight for myself."

Diverse set of characters which I enjoyed. Edie's PTSD and growth was realistic in my opinion...needed more consequences with friends from her past though. Climax was a bit rushed and the resolution came way too easily. John C. lacked depth.

Kylie Scott is an “auto-read” author of mine ever since I’ve read some of her Stage Dive series. There’s just something about her character’s personalities and their dialogue that calls to my funny bone, my brain when it’s pretending to be smart, and my sappy, sensitive heart. Ms. Scott is mostly know for her contemporary romances so when I saw she was writing a young adult romance, I piddled a little in glee. Yes, that happens at my age. Look forward to it.

Geared towards the older young adult audience, this story starts off horribly with a scary convenience store robbery and morphs into a sweet romance by the end. On it’s way, Ms. Scott manages to touch on subjects such as bullying and stereotypes. Of the two, the small stereotyping thread to the story really interested me the most. I haven’t read many stories where a character tried to change for the better but was met with resistance from people who should be encouraging and supportive. Got my hackles all raised up!!

I’m purposely not going into too many details about the story because the synopsis gives the reader just the right amount of information that you need to know. I was surprised that the story was so much more than I expected. I adored the character of John as soon as I met him. Yes, he’s not perfect by any means. But Ms. Scott wrote his character perfectly for this story. Edie really deserved her happily ever after.

If you like young adult romance that is bit more “risque” or, dare I say, on the hotter side, you will definitely enjoy this story. There isn’t a lot of sex but what there is, it is done very tastefully, for what it is 🙂

TRUST is another one of Ms. Scott's books where she's perfected the art of grabbing the reader right from the first page. It opens with a robbery scene and that alone has the reader flipping pages to see what the outcome of the situation will be. The majority of the book is the aftermath and healing from that life altering experience.

Edie and John are two unlikely characters who survived that traumatic situation which solidified an unbreakable bond between them. Their high school classmates are confused by the desire these two feel towards each other and yet that doesn't stop them from seeking each other out.

TWIST is a standalone story about two high school students who form a bond after going through a traumatic situation together. At every turn, someone is judging their character and actions and yet Edie and John are able to rise above it all without losing their dignity. Another great Kylie Scott book to add to my reading shelf.

I’m a huge fan of Kylie’s stories but not so much in the Young Adult department. So I didn’t know what to expect from Trust.
From the first chapter to the last word, I was engulfed in this beautiful story. Edie and John are really mature for teenagers, life has made them grow too fast. But they find in each other a soulmate, a relationship where trust is the basis of everything.
Edie’s and John’s courage shook me, their love story too. From my personal point of view, Edie’s story has also touch me, having experienced similar bullying at school.
Kylie give us a story full of compassion, altruism and it’s really touching. And I would like to tell her that if she decides to write more YA stories like this one, I will follow her no matter what!
In brief, go and read this beautiful story, even if you don’t like YA. It’s so much more than that…

What a marvelous story. Once I started, I couldn’t seem to put it down. The characters had me intrigued right from the beginning. They were easy to relate to, and I felt as though I could connect with them.

I absolutely loved the the incredible sexy aspects of the story, and then when you least expect it, BAM, you’re hit with the heart breaking ones.

I felt this book was very well written, and the characters had depth, which is one of the things I enjoy most about books. This one one you will for sure want to pick up!

”You’re here?”
“Yeah.”
“Why?”
“Because this is where you are,” he said, as if it were obvious.’
This story was classified as YA, but I felt like that label is going to lose it some validity in exploring the story. This story was deep. So much was going through my head as I was reading, that I could barely even keep up with myself. On a more personal side, I am a teacher. While I teach middle school (ages 12-15), I still see so many adult problems cycling through their lives. Reading a book classified as YA, that they could get their hands on and see real, scary issues … this makes me overjoyed.

These two characters experienced something no person should live through. This event changed both of their lives, albeit in much different ways-one is pushed toward rebellion & one is pushed toward the straight & narrow. Seeing these dramatic changes in each character helped to shape the story into a resemblance of real-life.

What I loved about the story, besides the realness it presented, was each character’s personality. Both Edie & John are surrounded by several people, good and bad, to influence their lives. I enjoyed seeing these characters go through a bit of evolution as well, and would be more than intrigued to see more of these characters.

I think this is a great story. I feel like a story like this isn’t often explored in the age range of this novel, so it is unique in its reading. Although a *smidge* graphic at times, a great story for any YA crowd to experience for empathy & understanding how their actions have a snowball effect of reactions.

Oooh, this gave me chills. I loved watching Edie and John get to know each other after they went through such a big event together. YA is not my go-to for romance, but this is worth picking up!

This book really took me by surprise. It was a deeper read than what I expected and there was so much to love about this story. I am a big fan of the Dive bar series but Trust was in a category on its own. It is a young adult romance and it isn’t. John and Edie are two different young people that life brought together unexpectedly. They are so different and similar at the same time- They just want to BE and get a chance at life. I know that I am not giving up much there but I can tell you that I am in awe with their story.
I had no idea how emotional this book would be. I had no idea what it was going to be about going into this one, so I had no idea how broken and in pain our main characters would be. As a teacher myself, Kylie Scott could not have portrayed in a better way the harsh life of Edie at school- The bullying, the fear, the body image shaming- and on the other hand what is it like to be the new guy in a school. I am so happy that I picked this book up and was able to go on the emotional roller coaster of this story.
Real, raw and inspiring story.

Amazing! This book was everything!! It was gripping, angsty and emotional! LOVED it! The characters were great and the writing was exceptional!! I highly recommend this book!

I always prefer to read books written in first person, which Trust was. I liked that Kylie Scott choose to create a character that is plus size. Almost all books I’ve read usually have the main female character thin and it was refreshing to have a change.

Kylie did a great job of creating her main characters. I really liked John and his personality and his long hair. Edie was so self-conscious but it didn’t matter to John that she was not your average girl. I did have some trouble with the flow at times. The scenes seem to change without a good flow and some of the dialogue was off.

It was a good read but it needed something else to be great.

There is meeting cute, and then there is meeting during a convenience store hold-up with a gun shoved in your mouth.

Edie and John meet in the latter fashion.

Both in the wrong place at the wrong time, they survive the robbery largely due to John's quick thinking. He saves her, and she feels drawn to him in the way you'd feel if someone rescued you from certain death. When she transfers to the high school he attends, they begin a fragile yet assured friendship.

Edie is the good girl discovering the freedom that comes with facing your mortality. There are things she wants to accomplish that she thinks will make her normal, or at least normal enough. She already feels like a freak because of what happened to her, and it isn't helping that she can't sleep at night or that she jumps when she hears loud cracks. John, on the other hand, takes his survival as a sign that he needs to change things, namely shedding himself of his role as resident drug dealer of choice.

As Edie stretches herself, making new friends and slowly (too slowly for her mother) settling into school, John tries to limit himself. He pulls in as she spreads out. When she tells him that she wants to lose her virginity, he steps up and volunteers.

Sex, though. Sex changes things. What will it do to the friendship Edie is desperate to maintain with John?

I first heard of this book when I saw its trailer, and I was instantly intrigued. Then I started reading it, and Kylie Scott hooked me immediately. I really liked Edie. She felt real to me. I understood her struggles with the bullies at her old school and with trying to find her way in her new reality. I liked her insecurities and her confusions. I liked her relationship with her mother. I also liked John. He's an easy guy to root for because you can see how desperate he is to change things. Scott develops their relationship with care and deliberation, not rushing or forcing anything.

Scott also ratchets up the tension. There is another dangerous threat out there that could harm John and Edie, and Scott weaves that in and out of the story. It's ever present, but Scott never plays it heavy-handedly.

Now, there is sex in this book - not a lot, and not wildly detailed - and it's a YA. I'd say it's geared more toward older, more mature teens. Edie's struggles with her body image should prompt some important discussions between teens - particularly teen girls - and their parents, as well as with each other.

Kylie Scott wrote one heck of a story. I look forward to what she does next.

Wow!!! This story blew my mind and heart ;)
Edie and John meet at the worst possible time and that experience, danger, fear and panic consume them both but at the same time they found each other and their bond is so strong!
I felt so much..I think I run the gamut of emotions lol.
I didn't expect to feel like laughing but at times I did..Edie is so strong and fearless, she finds humor in very uncertain and sad times. I also loved her new girlfriends..adored them really!
John was harder to get to know..he could be very closed off, grunting answers and not smiling much, but at the same time he could be so open and honest at times, and he has his insecurities too.
The characters are young, the age is 17/18, but for their age they are both very mature..true that what they experienced together forced their hands.
I cheered a lot for Edie and John and if I could ask one thing, it would be an extended epilogue ;)
I realise I am being very vague but there is so much to experience and feel in this story.
It's heartbreaking and beautiful, made me smile and fall in love with the characters

As a long time reader of romance, it's not often that I see a size inclusive heroine. Reading about a size inclusive, teenage protagonist is even less likely. So Trust was a revelation to me. A character who has doubts about her weight, her attractiveness etc but didn't constrain herself by those societal pressures. The depiction of friendships, and how childhood friends can let you down beyond repair struck home, And yeah, the boy was cute,

I love Kylie Scott for her hot, romantic and welcome pragmatism, and I love that she's stretching her wings into YA. Brava.

YA is not my usual genre, but I thought I'd give it a try. I have read others by Kylie Scott and loved them. Unfortunately, this one did not work for me. I think it was just a case that it just wasn't the right fit for me.
