First of all, Kylie Scott is a genius. Everything I’ve read from her—New Adult stories—is standing ovation worthy. But when I first heard about this Young Adult book I got a bit worried.
I LOVE reading YA books and because I love them so much I feel like it is harder for me to find stories I actually enjoy and aren’t completely cliché-ish.
That said, my expectations were sky-high and I was worried TRUST wouldn’t reach those expectations.
But worry not! TRUST definitely left my expectations in the dust. It is a fanfreakingtastic book.

Edie is such a charming and relatable character. She jumps out of the pages like a figure in a pop-up book. She’s shy and a badass at the same time. She made me laugh several times throughout the book with her bluntness.

John is what my dreams are made of. He is on the serious and mysterious side. He is so protective of Edie and he is so incredibly brave. I swear his name even sounds all heroic and crap. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s John Cole.
I have a hate/love relationship with his poker face. It is the best darn poker face I’ve ever read. There were several moments in the book where I couldn’t figure out what the heck was going on with him. I love me a mysterious man/boy but holy heck! The money I would pay to have a glimpse at John Cole’s point of view!

I loved watching both characters grow up throughout the book. The robbery changed their lives completely and it taught them a lot about life. Edie turned into a more reckless version of herself while John decided to leave trouble behind and clean his image. It was amazing watching—reading—how different people react to certain situations.

PSA: I don’t usually comment on a book’s cover but can we please take a moment to appreciate this book’s gorgeous cover? I get heart eyes every time I look at it. The model on the cover is the perfect representation of John. Long hair is my kryptonite. Sigh.

Kylie is an expert at making you feel as if you were living inside her stories. You’ll feel Edie’s fear deep in your bones as she’s held at gunpoint. You’ll feel your heart beat out of your chest every time John holds Edie’s face between his hands and leans down to kiss her. And you’ll definitely feel your heart drop when danger strikes their lives once again.

Everyone should give this book a try. Even if you’re not a fan of Young Adult books, I promise you’ll find yourself hanging on to every single word of this fun coming-of-age book.
TRUST doesn’t have any unnecessary drama, it is beyond exciting, unputdownable, contains a gorgeous long-haired man/boy with amazing cheekbones and a badass heroine with a great sense of style and humor. Plus, it is written by Kylie freaking Scott. What else can you ask for?!

This was my very first Kylie Scott book and it went incredibly well. I was a little hesitant starting this book; YA contemporaries have started to blend into each other in my mind, forming this one plot that basically repeats itself. This book, however, literally blew my mind. It dealt with some serious issues pretty bluntly, something you don't usually come across in YA books. Bullying, sexual harassment, body shaming, PTSD, panic attacks, etc... I don't even know how all those fit, but somehow they did, along with some staggering character transformations. So, needless to say, I loved this book to pieces.
Starting with Edie, the protagonist, who is literally the strongest YA character I've come across. I rooted for her with all my heart. She isn't fearless; the incident made sure to prove that. But that's the point. It was so easy to picture myself in her shoes. Finding yourself taken hostage by some meth-head on an ordinary summer night while picking up some snacks from the convenience store sounds insane. Well, try getting a gun held to your head. Shoved into your mouth. Seeing two innocent people getting killed in front of you. I cannot begin to imagine how hard it is to be strong enough to manage living after that. What I loved was how the author didn't make it sound like it was easy in any way. We witnessed Edies suffering, physically and mentally. Her remarkable character transformation. The way everything about the incident changed her view and her opinion about life in general. It was pretty intense, I won't lie. And I don't think I was expecting something as heavy. But I don't mind reading it one more. Or twice, for that matter.
The way she had to cope with her ex-best friend, her new school, meeting Hang (whom I loved endlessly), Anders, Sophia & Carrie who are just downright awesome. I loved the crew. Ander's was hilarious. I loved the diversity; nationality-wise and sexual-orientation-wise.

I was unaware that I had received this book until after it's archived it, because of this I was unable to download it but also unable to read it. As a result I'm unable to review it and for that I'm truly sorry, I do hope that I get the chance to read it in the future.

Ebook kindly received from the author via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Edie’s perspective of life changes some what after she gets held up at gunpoint in a local store robbery. She also changes her friends and school. At her new school she comes across John, who helped saved her life in the robbery.

John has also had a few major lifestyle changes since the robbery and is trying to stay out of trouble for the first time in his life.

Edie and John’s story was a real page turner. The story drew me and made me want to know what happened next. I found myself frustrated by the characters at times and wanted to be able to bang their heads together lol.

I've read quite a few young adult books lately but this one is definitely one of my favourites. This was my first read by Kylie Scott, it certainly won't be my last.

It’s no secret that I love Kylie Scott and her writing. She gets the real woman and she never shies away from being brutal honest about life and its ups and downs. It is the reason why she is adored by many for her stories in the romance genre. She makes her stories accessible and relatable even though they involve rockstars. But who can blame her as she gave us countless of boyfriends and plenty of entertainment. Despite all this I was slightly hesitant when Trust was announced . Even though my gut knew I wouldn’t be disappointed, there is a fine difference between romance and YA.

The language, emotions and life experiences are different in YA. What you may experience and enjoy in a romance novel may not work in YA novel. I didn’t know how her brand of writing would translate to YA. Don’t get me wrong Scott can write. But she has a particular kind of writing that not everyone may love in YA. Needless to say I didn’t have to worry and Scott has written a book that has instantly become one of my favourite OZ YA novels to date I have read.

Not shying away from her roots and being the writer that I have come to love and adore . Scott tells the story of highschool senior Edie. A plus size teenager who lives an ordinary life in a North California town until her life is changed by a robbery in the local convenience store . It is a life changing needless to say and that night things happened that leaves Edie shaken and changed. She no longer wants to live life half full and decides its time to make a stance. Trust is her story, her journey to that place. But when you have an experience that takes away trust from you in the most heartless way. It isn’t going to be easy. Lucky for her, this experience isn’t a one person affair.

That night didn’t only touch her and we soon cross paths with John who was there by her side trying to get her through the whole ideal. His life is a total opposite from Edie’s. Around here he isn’t a boy with goals or dreams. He is the boy who runs wild , partying and dealing . Leaving life to the fullest the only way he knows how. Until that night. Now they find themselves on the opposites sides once again as they forge new paths in their lives their senior year.

With the only person keep them sane is each other as life keeps on giving them challenges. Even so they are drawn to each other and bonding over things. Trusting to keep each other going, but when the lines are cross and their world just get complicated once again. Who are they going trust?

A very teenage affair,Trust is coming of age story told Scott style. Not holding back , Scott tells the highs and lows of life through Eddie and John. The typical teenage problems along the cruel real world problems peppered in that add a air of honesty and reality to this story. Scott doesn’t paint a pretty picture of substance abuse or shy away from the bullying and problems of being a plus woman. She makes it a matter of fact like other things in this novel which I enjoyed especially when it came to a certain point in the novel. It was a very accepting novel from a teenager point of view . Yes we had the parents who questioned and nag their kids but I loved how the teenagers in this novel were very accepting about things and didn’t push views on to us as readers.

Told over a few months , Eddie journey is a story of firsts and honest and real. She doesn’t relent any second and I loved her and John for who they become. How they embraced the best and worst bits of themselves and rose again the experience that set them alight and made them want to change.

Scott has done it again in a different genre and I couldn’t be more thrilled and hope this isn’t the last from her YA. We need a voice like her’s in YA as well. Dealing with the tough issues and being these are facts of life

Kylie Scott has delivered yet another addictive and compelling read that had me glued to my seat from start to finish. I love each and every one of Kylie’s heroes and John gave Jimmy Ferris a run for his money, and almost knocked him off his perch.

TRUST is a little different from what we have come to expect from Scott, but it is in no way less than brilliant than her previous books. I absolutely loved every second and could have happily read it again and again.

One of the great things about TRUST is we are thrown right into the action from the very beginning, and Edie’s inner dialogue had you believing you were there with her. It’s not long into the book before we are introduced to the main characters, and almost instantly you can feel the chemistry between John and Edie; and how important they will become to one another.

I loved John and Edie’s friendship and was enthralled to see where it would lead. John is so protective of her, but it was enjoyable to see a heroine that didn’t need saving from her knight in shining armour. Edie was feisty and the mouth on her…woah!

The scenes in the store and later with John’s brother Dillon, were heart pounding and had me losing a few fingers nails. They were so well written that I could picture myself in Edie’s shoes, and could feel the panic in which she was feeling; it was completely realistic.

I loved that after everything John and Edie went through, it encouraged them to become better people; to focus on their future. John wanted to reinvent himself, he didn’t want people thinking of him the way they had before, which then encouraged Edie to the same. I liked that although John was changing for the good, he still had that bad-assery we all could tell was there. John and Edie were good for each other and they were willing to fight for what they had. Their love is real and despite some major obstacles and life threatening situations; it survived.

I am a huge fan of Kylie Scott and would recommend TRUST to all my friends and followers. Such a beautiful and sexy read. Highly recommended.

I'll go ahead and apologize now if this is less review and more gush-fest. Because, seriously people, this one did it for me. Edie was a character I was 100% on-board with and John... yeah, I was all about John. So let me tell you why you need to read Trust.

1. A main character that is 100% realistic.
I want to be best friends with Edie. I loved this girl. She was a tough cookie (even when she didn't think she was) without being hard and closed-off. After being one of only two people to walk away from a robbery gone wrong, Edie is suddenly unable and unwilling to put up with the petty b.s. that makes up high school life. Bullying and stupid drama no longer registers as important. What is important? Speaking her mind, taking chances, not living in fear. Edie's journey - her PTSD, her struggle with unwanted attention, her growing feelings for John - felt completely realistic and relatable.

2. A story that is absolutely gripping.
Trust starts with a bang. A convenience store robbery turns violent. A known drug dealer tries to diffuse the situation and ends up saving a life. I was hooked immediately, turning page after page, feeling the tension. In the aftermath, despite changing schools, despite a concerned mother, the only one Edie can relate to is John. Not only did he go out of his way to save her life that night, but he's the only one who understands what is was like and what she's going through now. I loved the evolution of Edie and John's relationship and their utter honesty with one another. With a cast of secondary characters that made for an even richer story, I found Trust to be darker and grittier than most YA, and almost impossible to put down.

3. A hero that starts off as an anti-hero.
Okay, don't expect too much in-depth examination of John's character because basically I just want to flail and swoon and gush about how great this guy is. John was a character who had been traveling down a dangerous road. The robbery forced himself to examine his choices and he was determined to make better ones. Unfortunately his teachers and classmates already had him pegged as a loser and he struggled against their pigeon-holing and worked hard to do better and be better. John not only struggled with PTSD but also with guilt over the death of a classmate during the robbery. I felt so much for him as he fought against getting dragged back into a life he no longer wanted. His openness and honesty with Edie was so refreshing and his willingness to prove himself worthy turned my heart to mush.

4. A mother-daughter relationship worth mentioning.
This is not a YA novel where the teenager apparently hatched from an egg since there are no parents to be found anywhere. Nope, Edie's mom was in full effect. I loved the fact that even though she worked nights, she was involved in Edie's life and was a concerned and protective parent, particularly since the robbery. And Edie was respectful of her mother, acknowledging that she had worked hard to make it with just the two of them. There were definitely complications and disagreements but they communicated and they listened. Kudos to such a positive portrayal of a mother-daughter relationship.

5. A plus-size heroine whose life does not revolve around her size.
What a minute. A teen girl who is not a size 6 but doesn't starve herself and doesn't fade into the background? What is this madness you speak of? Thank you Kylie Scott for making Edie a girl with a few extra pounds but doesn't feel defined by her size. Yes, Edie has moments of insecurity, yes there are instances of taunting and bullying - but this isn't a story about a fat girl. It's just a story about a girl. Edie has such a healthy attitude and I loved that she made friends, went to parties, and just lived her life without her weight being a major factor. *fist pump*

Hopefully at least one of these will convince you to read this amazing story!

I'm going to start by saying how much I have enjoyed Kylie Scott's Stage Dive & Dive Bar books. However I was completely thrown by the idea of her writing a YA story, BUT I knew I had to read it! In true KS form she totally rocked this very different contemporary story - shame on me for ever doubting her!

If you're expecting a light and fluffy teen romance then be prepared for a shock. TRUST is action packed, dramatic, and at times, really dark - but it's also funny and heartwarming. KS is never one to shy away from discussing the darker side of things and TRUST is no different. Due to the heavier topics and more mature themes I'm going to suggest this is a YA story for older teens and adults rather than middle grade or younger teens.

In TRUST KS has managed that rare thing of having two likeable leads. I loved both Edie and John. Edie's commentary made me laugh and cry. Her antics range from hilarious and bewildering to being upsetting and really sad at times. She embodies many of the self doubts and insecurities women, and not just young women, face today - she's extremely relatable. I particularly appreciated how she stays true to herself.

John perfectly demonstrates how we should never right people off or misjudge them. Not only does he repeatedly look after Edie, but he appreciates her for being herself and always encourages rather than controls.

I cannot recommend TRUST enough as a contemporary romance. For those of you who adamantly don't read YA stories, I'd definitely consider giving this one a chance because I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Well done KS!

4.75 Stars in my Sky!

I saw a few reviews on this and once I read the blurb, I had to read it....so glad I did, it loved it! This is the second Kylie Scott book I wrote but I'm thinking I really should spend more time going through her previous books because she's a fantastic writer.

Trust is a great book that deals with real life issues for teens and new adults. Subject of drug abuse, violence, sex, and bullying are hot topics but rarely written into fiction for teens due to delicate subject content. Kylie Scott has written another hard-hitting new adult novel that is true to the young adult audience. I felt connected to the characters and didn't feel like I was reading just another romance novel.

When you read a book that BLASTS through you like countless cannons catapulting your heart, you want to scream it...it being Trust by Kylie Scott...to the world. I'm SCREAMING: "Trust me, you NEED to become one with Kylie Scott's latest phenomenon, Trust! This book is so brilliant and bloody badass (I'm not a Brit but that sounded cool.) and, dare I say, divergent that I applaud this author for delivering the different.

Trust is UNIQUE...unlike any book I've ever read. This is not a story but an EDGE-OF-YOUR SEAT EXPERIENCE. Trust is an ADRENALINE-FILLED ADVENTURE where I ate up every word while feeling every emotion.

Beautiful Edie has survived several forms of hell as a teen, her young life full of obstacles that would set most teen girls back.

I had no fucks to give.

Bold, brave, and badass, I adored this young woman who is a survivor thanks to a gorgeous dark knight, John.

One night took an 18-yr-old boy and a 17-yr-old girl from strangers to fated friends.
One night altered their lives' paths.
One night almost resulted in their end.
One night changed them forever.

There was something inevitable about his presence, as if we were bound somehow.

John, high school heartthrob and troublemaker with a capital T, I pictured this young rebel as James Dean. Oh did I love this hot guy with a huge heart!

He was beautiful and I ... I was nothing.

I BROKE!!!! My heart sank for Edie who thinks she is not beautiful or worthy of John. Edie and John's connection starts as friends brought together by fate, but their union is deeper...bigger. They are MAGICAL together, with a MAGNETIC PULL deeper than chemistry...so much MORE.

He kissed me slow and sweet. It seemed endless, as necessary to life as breathing.

John make me MELT like an ice cream cone on a hot summer day!!! Edie and John forge a BEAUTIFUL BOND, one of two bold and big-hearted young adults, thrown together by tragedy but likely destiny.

"You're here?"

"Yeah."

"Why?"

"Because this is where you are," he said, as if it were obvious.

I had nothing.

Trust ENAMORED ME, this WHIRLWIND of POWER and PASSION wrapped itself around me where I couldn't stop reading. I was BREATHLESS from this book that buzzes with excitement and emotion. I could not help but be ALL IN...FULL THROTTLE!!! Trust quickly morphed into a romance-thriller movie playing in my head. The writing is woven with detail so deeply that I FELT EVERY WORD ... oh did I FEEL!!! Trust is a story NOT JUST FELT but LIVED. You can't help but live this story along with the characters Kylie Scott so vividly brings to life.

Trust is an EXHILARATING and EMOTIONALLY-ENTWINED love story. Trust is bravery and beauty both inside and out. Trust is IMPERFECTLY PERFECT. Trust is SO MUCH MORE.

Like books, we often judge people by their covers. Too fat, too thin, too short, too tall, too light, too dark. We look at the exterior without getting to know the far more superior interior. Trust is about what's inside. Trust is about saying f**k judgement, f**k what others think, just live life right and just be you. Rise above but never let those treat you like you're down below.

If I could describe Trust by Kylie Scott in one line, it would be THIS!!!

>>> As tender as it is thrilling, Trust is a raw and riveting roller coaster of a romance, a story of love, loss, and life. <<<

UNSTOPPABLE. UNPUTDOWNABLE. UNFORGETTABLE. Trust is not ordinary but EXTRAORDINARY. I LOVED every ounce of Trust. Trust is a story that hits the heart and stays with the soul long after the last page, a romance where love is inevitable and life is valuable. ❤️

"That’s not how this works."

"You know how this works?"

"Yeah. We keep trying,” he said simply. “If we really want it, then we don’t give up. That easy."

💋💋💋💋💋 'meant to be' kisses

Scott is a favorite author of mine, and I really love mature YA books, so I jumped at the opportunity to read this. I was unprepared for the deep, emotional journey this book led me on. It was a book that I didn't want to end. I found myself on the edge of my seat throughout most of it. Sometimes I could feel the pain and fear immensely, and other times I was down right giddy at the antics of the characters.
Trust is the epitome of what it means to truly discover yourself. John and Edie get the ultimate wake up call and must learn how to navigate life after just tragic, life altering events. The after is of course anything but smooth and left with several speed bumps along the way. But the way they grow both individually and together is beautifully inspiring and will leave you feeling content and inspired by their journey.
This is one of those books that wont soon leave me and I encourage everyone to check it out!

This book full of young love caught me from the first page. Kylie Scott hits you with a hook and doesn't let up. We get to see this young unpopular girl blossom into her own and it is amazing to see. With John, we get to see a young man going down a wrong path who wants to turn it around. As the book progresses, we see a twist of a fairy tale as their two lives entwine. This book was full of surprises at every turn and I loved it.

After seeing the book cover and reading the description I knew I wanted to read this book. Firstly, I feel the cover is inappropriate for the subject matter, JMO. (But again, this was the main reason I read the book so...)

With that said, I actually enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the conversational writing style and felt it added to the characters. It was a good easy read.

There's something so powerful about a bond made from tragedy and that's exactly what Edie and John share. They are bonded together and they make each other stronger.

John and Edie are both looking to change their lives after the tragedy at the convenience store, Edie wants to live fuller and experience more while John is looking to settle down and start going down a better path. These journeys of self discovery and change bring John and Edie back together. I absolutely fell in love with the friendship they build and the camaraderie they felt.

My absolute favorite part is that this is not a book where the boy helps the helpless girl. No, Edie is tough and can very well hold her own. They help each other, the support each other, they defend each other. They hold each other up and I fell head over heels in love with that.

Edie's outlook on life kind of changes after the convenience store, things that would previously hurt her just roll of her back, friendships that she might have forgiven become casualties of her growing up. Through this process she becomes a stronger and better version of herself (I mean some punches are thrown, but she gets better). She becomes more self assured and builds a better network of people around her. I loved Edie.

And John, gorgeous, troubled, reformed bad boy John was so much more than I expected him to be. He was the strong/silent type but also sweet and determined. He was 100% there for Edie and for bettering himself and all you wanted as the reader was to see him succeed.

This book has easily made its way to my favorites of 2017 for sure!!!!

Trust by Kylie Scott is a full length standalone romance novel.
Meet Edie and John. Both are held hostage at gun point at a robbery at a convenience store.
Edie's life shattered. Nothing is as it was. She leaves her private school and enrolls at the local public highschool. And there she meets John again. John risked his life to save hers. And while Edie finds her attitude, John starts to settle from his bad past.
Both have a great friendship, but hormones and feelings are high and things get complicated.

Kylie Scott writes fantastic books. Her Stage Dive Series and especially Play is one of my favorite reads ever. I read and reread her dystopian books Skin and Flesh all the time.
And now she did it again.
John and Edie's story is heart wrenchingly beautiful.
Trust is beautifully thought out, beautifully written- I could feel the characters emotions in the words- and beautifully told.
I love the characters, their struggle and how they grow up. And I love their well deserved HEA.

I Highly recommend Trust and wish I could give more than 5 Stars. Thanks Kylie Scott !!

OMG this book... I seriously have no words, I can sum up maybe one... BRILLIANT!!
From the first few words I was drawn in and every words after that just captured me heart and soul. This book brought out so much emotion in me. I found a strong connection with Edie, she's such an amazing character, one I could see myself hanging out with everyday.

And as always Kylie Scott delivered a HOT, emotionally addictive story. This one is definitely for the "one-click" (buy now) list.
