This book was a lot different from what I was expecting but still a pretty steamy read. There were some unexpected but original twist that I appreciated. Although, I must admit that Mona's trust of Malcolm was a little to quick and unrealistic for my taste. He also threw the term whore around an awful lot and it was quite jarring. All in all it was a lusty read and I would recommend if you like a little steamy and kinky sex with a bit of bestiality thrown in. The ending was adorable as well.

4.5 "Hot Damn" Stars!!!

My my my, this book had me fanning myself most of the time. I suggest before you start reading this book, you turn up your air conditioner to full blast because this is a scorcher. 🔥🔥🔥 I obviously didn't know what to expect, but man was it a delight. I was so intrigued with the story and especially with the characters. This book was so unique, it had me in a trance. And the writing, the writing was amazing. I kept wondering where the author was going with this story. It made me think and had me guessing half the time. I honestly had no idea what to expect, and then, BOOM, my mind was freaking blown! I did not see that coming. I was like, "where the heck did that come from?" and "oooooh snap that was a big, huge, gigantic surprise." And that's what I love. I love books that make me think and surprise me at the same time. And that's what 'The Red' did, it sucked me in and didn't let me go.

Mona made a promise that she would do anything to save her mother's art gallery. Circumstances come about that make it difficult to fulfill her promise. Just when she thinks she has to sell the gallery, the arrival of a mysterious man comes into her life and changes everything.

Malcolm, who is he? Where did he come from? What's his ulterior motive? He has a proposition for Mona. He wants to help her save her mother's gallery. And, of course with his help, he also wants something in return. Thus, starts the whirlwind of adventure. Malcolm and his mysterious ways come into Mona's life and flips everything upside down. And the question is, will Mona come out unscathed?

Malcolm! OH MY FREAKING WORD, MALCOLM! I have no words, I mean, I do, but they're not G-rated. I loved the mystery behind him and his secretive ways. I wouldn't have minded one night in his presence. Wow, just thinking about him is getting me all flustered. I loved him and everything about this intriguing story!!!!! AH-MAZING, highly highly highly recommend this book!

The Red
Tiffany Reisz
3.5 STARS ✨

This was a very interesting read. I usually enjoy my fantasy reads but because I couldn't figure out if this was a fantasy read or not I had a hard time getting into reading this one. I have read other of Tiffany Reisz books and enjoyed them. So I had a high expectation going into this one. I think I would have enjoyed this one a little more if I knew what was going on during it. But you don't find out till the end and even that was a little confusing.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

3.5 STARS

The story line was very intriguing and had me hooked instantly. However the steam was a little more steaming than I usually read. If you love it seriously erotic and completly off the charts then you will love it. It's very, very hot and somewhat twisted.

The Red is complex and intriguing. And it's also not what you think. Somehow it had a feel of old erotic novels, particularly Emmanuelle.

As you may guess, I liked it. Not in the way of The Original Sinners novels, but it had its own niche.

The beginning is confusing, but it gets more and more interesting as the book progresses until it finally all makes sense.

Tiffany Reisz definitely let her imagination run wild in The Red. I'm looking at you, Minotaur! However, every erotic encounter is crazily atmospheric and you can understand how the main heroine got obsessed with Malcolm, and how it changed her.

I do love Miss Reisz's heroines. They are magnetic and very strong-willed, and they do not give a fig about societal constraints. You go, girls!

Overall, it might not have been what I've expected from this book but holy sh*t, I was not disappointed.

Recommended.

This is my first book by this author and I was completely blown away. There were a lot of twists and turns plus the passion and the banter. Was very well written and I really enjoyed the concept of it. I would highly recommend this one!

I don't think I have ever read a book quiet like The Red.In this book, we follow Mona who is desperately trying to save her mother's art gallery that is called The Red or Red, out of now where this mysterious man comes to the gallery and who offers her a way to save to the gallery however it has a very erotic cost and this is really where the book takes off. I have to say that The Red has to be one of the most erotic books I have ever read and at the same time it has such a uniqueness about it.I was very serious when I said I have never read another book like this one, up until the very last part of this book I was kept on my toes wondering what would happen next and who exactly was this mystery man. I also loved the way that art was incorporated in this book, it definately added something to this story. Even after finish this book for quite some time I still can't stop thinking about it. This story was sexy ( this is wrong way to say it ,its more like red hot sexy ( see what I did there lol ) , the type of hot that will have you wondering if it may just make your Kindle over heat as well lol ) , it has this mysterious feeling to it constantly , I was always thinking to myself nothing is truly what it seemed and of course the unique paranormal twist that I did not see coming was just WOW ! . The Red is smoking hot erotica , with dark humour and addicting nature that had my eyes unable to leave the page and if you love all these things in your books you should definitely pick up a copy as soon as possible .

Mona promised her mother on her death bed that she would do anything to keep The Red, her mother's art gallery. A mysterious man known to her as only Malcolm gives her a proposition. He'll save The Red if she agrees to be his sexually for the next year. He'll come to her about once a month and be able to do whatever he wants with or to her. Each time he comes, they begin by acting out a scene from a different famous piece of art. Every meeting is a unique and erotic experience. Do not try to read this book in a public setting. There's a good chance you'll need some 'me time' more than once. The scenes may push your boundaries also. I enjoyed each time Malcolm paid a visit. Certain bits almost made me combust. I loved the ending. I guessed something along those lines of what Malcolm was, but I never would have guessed his end game. The story wraps up well, but I wouldn't be opposed to revisiting Mona in another book.

Fantastical story telling

Mona Lisa St. James is offered a lifeline to save The Red art gallery from closure. The catch is she has to submit to the desires of a mysterious, handsome stranger. After promising her dying mother she would do anything to keep it afloat, she has to decide whether she can give him Carte Blanche to her body for a year.

I loved the atmosphere of this novel, you can feel Mona’s desire and anticipation building. The use of famous artworks to set up each chapter and scene really helps to add the richness of detail. It’s beautifully weird and memorable. I have never read any of Tiffany’s work before but will definitely start now. I was lucky enough to be given an advance readers copy for a fair review.

This book is in a genre I don't usually read but I thought I'd give it a go. The enjoyed the story line although it was a little too graphic for me in places.

Move over E L James....Tiffany Reisz is the new queen of steam!

Tiffany Reisz proves that you don't need to sacrifice a smart, intriguing reading experience just because you're in the mood for erotica. The Red was both satisfying and gratifying. Yes, there's the sex in all its plentiful and eye-popping variations; but, it's also a unique story that interweaves art and mystery and humor.

The Red is an erotica, romance novel by Tiffany Reisz.

The Red follows a story od Mona Lisa St. James. It starts in medias res – Mona is in deep debt and on the verge of selling her art gallery called The Red when a mysterious stranger in a well fitted suit appears in the gallery late at night and gives her the most ungentlemanlike proposal.
We than follow Mona into some of the most surreal situations which are almost all the time borderline supernatural and quite unreal.

At first, I must admit, I was quite judgy and quick to condemn this book to a low rating and with it a very negative review. However, as I sinked deeper and deeper into the story I found myself quite fond of the characters and interested in their fates.
I like to joke about this book that “I came for the smut (pun not intended), but stayed for the art history references”. That is not untrue. I must say, this was some of the best written smut I have read lately. But what I simply cannot oversee is the fact that I have read so much about art history is such and unlikely book. I love it, I really do. That is for me the thing that takes this book to a higher level than other erotica books.

This of course is not a book about which I can have a long post describing the amazing writing or similar, we are all aware of that. Anyhow, I must say I find the main plot quite interesting. Even if we excluded the whole sexual plotline the story of Mona and her art gallery The Red is exceptionally interesting. I really recommend this light and sexy read!

This book is a must read, if your feeling in the mood for a romance. This book was all in all phenomenal It had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through, wondering ' What was going to happen next?'. It has some very strong themes In here so be prepared. Also know that once you start you won't be able to put it down until the end. The end was marvelous and ended on such a cliffhanger, almost like there was going to be another book. It was a little predictable but you would only be able to predict it if you read it heavily, trying to figure out the next move. I give it a Five out of Five stars. I suggest reading it but I know some people won't.

Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything to save her mother's art gallery. Unfortunately, not only is The Red painted red, but it's in the red. She soon realizes she has no choice but to sell it.

Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a mysterious man comes in after closing time and makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she agrees to submit to him for the period of one year.

The man is handsome, English, and terribly tempting...but surely her mother didn't mean for Mona to sell herself to a stranger. Then again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red...

I loved this story!

I loved that it intertwined art, fantasy and kinky-ness. The story was truly unique. The way each encounter was centered around a piece of art was expertly done and captivating. Those scenes were so richly described it felt like I was watching them, not reading about them. They were my favorite parts of the book. Plus, I truly could not guess what or who her mystery man is until the big reveal at the end..."mike drop" I never would have guessed it. I loved the ending, thought it was perfect. There is lots of kinky goodness in this story and lots of taboo scenarios, so it may be a little rough for some, but I loved them all and thought they were excellently done. Now, it is not all fun and sexiness, there is emotion and drama woven into the story too. When Mona and the mystery man hit a rough patch in the middle I was a little teary and really felt for Mona. I want to say more about the storyline but I am afraid to give too much way and I want this to be spoiler free.

I will say if you want a sexy, unique erotic fantasy story, you should read this one!

I have to be honest. I’m not sure how to rate and review this book. So yes, it was off the charts steamy – a one-hand read for sure, but the plot was a bit off. The line between reality and imagination was blurred quite a bit and while I loved the straight to the point writing. There was no extra filler and that I loved. The way the twist happened still leaves me wanting more.

So, Mona is trying to save The Red from bankruptcy as her mother’s dying wish. One night a man is in the gallery and he offers her a huge amount of money to become his for the year approximately once a month and in payment he will give her enough art pieces to save the gallery.

I personally was fine with the first 75% of the story. Yes, the characters aren’t really developed, but it is mostly about Mona’s fixation with Malcom and yes, we know very little about Malcom. My main problem is when we get the twist about Malcom. I guess I’m still stuck on the reality vs. imagination aspect of the earlier scenes in the story. All that being said, I really did enjoy the story even if in the end it didn’t seem to fit reality. I hope we get more about Mona’s new life.

Wow, just wow. Seriously unlike anything I've ever read and I wasn't expecting it. I was hooked from the beginning and completely devoured this book. I feel like anything I write won't even do it justice but if you like erotica and don't mind a little taboo-read this book. Such an original story and well thought out. I loved it.

A provocative read.

THE RED is about a young woman named Mona who decides to entrust herself for a year in the company of a mysterious man, Malcolm, who repays her time by giving her rare pieces of artwork to save her art gallery. The plot is largely straightforward and intensifies from a simple relationship into a surreal experience where Mona begins to question who the man really is.

Essentially, I like the blunt dynamic of the relationship. The agreement between Mona and Malcolm is not based on love, but is more of a business arrangement. And yet, things get complicated when Mona starts to realise more about Malcolm, set over the backdrop of the art industry.

I really liked the fact that art is referenced throughout, but never so much that it becomes an overwhelming heap of info-dumping. In fact, the loose descriptions of artwork really help to add a dream-like, surreal structure to the story which fits in well with the ending. Even without looking at the paintings, I still have a vivid image of what they look like.

However, where this story fell short for me, was due to a slight lack of characterisation. We never see Mona interact with anyone else outside of Malcolm and another minor-role male character. Therefore, we have no idea if she acts towards everyone as she does to Malcolm, or what she is really like as a person.

The steamy scenes were very detailed and creative, if strangely executed. Essentially, I liked the suspenseful dynamic of the relationship and the surreal, unconventional ending for the genre. Therefore, I would recommend THE RED to anyone looking for a steamy romance with a twist.
