This is a collections of stories about travel and it provides such good advice, entertainment and education. If you are a budding world traveler, this is a starting point for you to gain some insight.
A collection of short reminisces from women about traveling.
Don’t go camping with the Lost aficionado. The story about getting lost was quirky fun, easily my fave. Marry Me was so sad in its inevitability.
For an empowering title, a few of these stories turned out badly for the protagonist.
Good book that highlights the troubles and difficulties women have when they travel alone, and what you can do to make it easier for yourself.
Excellent. Way too short (there are only four essays), but what's here is compelling, funny, cautionary and delightfully outside the box. I particularly resonated with the woman who gets lost all the time. Been there, done that. Recommended.
The preface to these stories quotes the famous saying of Robert Louis Stevenson "to travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive" which is an apt description of the theme of travel that is explored in this delightful anthology of female travel writing. Each writer was traveling on her own and experienced the challenges and in some cases the inherent danger of such a venture. There are 20 solo travel stories in 5 volumes of memoirs and the review provided included 4 of these. Each was different and encapsulated different themes of loss, discovery and human growth.
I read this in one sitting and would certainly like to the read the others. Some of the stories are real page turners and one does not know how the story or indeed the destination will end or change.
You do not have to be a female to enjoy these stories, who has not been on train uncertain if they have boarded the correct one as the doubts increase as the journey progresses.
Yes I would recommend this for those who enjoy travel and the human condition.
