Oooooooooh this is a page turner and a half! I read it in one sitting and raced through the book.

It’s a gripping read full of tension and had me on the edge of my seat throughout the book.

Libby and Jamie basically do a house swap, she’s had a miscarriage and the offer comes at just the right time when they need a break and change of scenery. But if something is too good to be true; it usually is.

Strange things start to happen and she begins to feel like she’s been watched and followed. Lots goes on and it all starts to fall apart very quickly and they know they’ve made a huge mistake doing the swap.

Total edge of your seat read, get this book!

Last Seen Alive

I think this is my favourite Claire Douglas book to date. Last Seen Alive is a psychological thriller that will well and truly keep you on your toes. Full of twists and turns, as things are revealed through the story, you’ll become more and more gripped by the book. Brilliant!!
Five stars and more from purplebookstand!

Libby Hall and her Husband Jamie need a break so when the opportunity to swap their Bath flat for a sea front Home in Cornwall it seems to good to be true, Is it?
Libby seems paranoid but is she right to be? The story unfolds both in the present and the past but how are they linked?
I really enjoyed this book and enjoyed how the depth was added to the characters as the story progressed. I would read the author again and unequivocally suggest you read it!

'Last Seen Alive' has to be one of my favourite reads this year. I cannot recall a book that had so many twists and turns as this one. Every time i thought i had guessed what happens next, i was wrong. I do not usually write what a story is about for fear of spoiling for others, but i will only say that it starts with a house swap. I can highly recommend this book.

I am now keen to read more books by this talented author. My thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for giving me the chance to read this gripping book. This is my honest review.

I love Claire Douglas her writing and her stories have always kept me hooked and this was no different, this an author who just keeps on giving! As always I didn't know where this was heading but I loved it. The characters were very fleshed out and they felt real! I loved the plot.

It all started with the house swap. Libby & Jamie take a break on the Cornish Coast and strange things start to happen.
Their trip is cut short when Jamie ends up in hospital and their lives begin to unravel.
Who is targeting them and why?
It was quite stressful (in a good way) reading this, twists and turns I didn't see coming.
I'm still thinking about the ending.
How far would you go to escape your old life?

I hadn't really heard all too much about this book but it sounded intriguing enough for me to request it on netgalley, then when i spied a few of my real life friends delving in i knew i had probably left it a little too long to read.

When a note is pushed through Libbys door at the very moment she realises she and her husband Jamie need a break away, especially after the fire that led to her been in the paper and giving her undue attention that she has spent her life avoiding. It was already bringing back bad memories plus she was dealing with alot as well. A chance to visit a lovely house in Cornwall for a week and fix their strained marriage.

However, all isnt as it seems and as a few odd occurring happen, Libby starts to feel like she is loosing the plot and with Jamie certainly not believing her, can her marriage survive and what on earth is actually happening?!

Last seen alive is a slow burner of a thriller that allows the reader to get a feel for the characters, it builds the drama and tension until it finally stars to reveal what led to these events. Its only in the last section of the book we start to get answers. I found the characters mostly unreliable and couldnt decide who was trust worthy and who wasnt. It really was a clever read that i couldt put down and wasnt a great idea to read on a lunch break because it was so easy to loose track of time with a read like this.

A fantastic unexpected read that is one for those who dont mind a narrative building before it all comes tumbling out.

Three and a half rating.
A dodgy house swap, slightly problematic marriage, strange goings on and plenty of twists and turns along the way. Someone has got it in for Libby and Jaime, but who and why? This pair are meant to be intelligent but are so naive. It’s as if they shared the same one brain cell the way they carried on most of the time! There’s a lot of nasty, selfish characters in this book and only the dog is truly likeable. The ending comes as a bit of an anticlimax. There are some edge of your seat moments, it’s fast moving and there are some great descriptions of Bath, Cornwall and Thailand. I did like the writing style and the cover.

I liked this book and definitely felt that the story held enough for me to keep reading it, however, it can be confusing to read when you need to remember which ones which and what happened to who! Twice i had to go back to the beginning to re trace what happened when.

Quite a creepy read and definitely the book for you if you want to be spooked out!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

After reading The Sisters by the same writer, I was very keen to get started on this book. I loved the premise and it gripped me from the very beginning. It was creepy and atmospheric in parts, totally capturing the desolation of the initial settings. The mysterious events continue throughout the story resulting in a jaw-dropping finale with an amazingly intrinsic plot-twist.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Claire Douglas in the future.

I have read Claire Douglas's novel Local Girl Missing and the e-novella The Text but Last Seen Alive is in a different league altogether. Told from the perspectives of two friends it is a tale of friendship, death and lies. Libby and her husband Jamie live in a modest flat in Bath and one day a leaflet is put through their letterbox asking if anyone wants to swap houses with a family whose daughter is very ill in a local hospital. It all seems to be too good to be true when the house that is part of the swap turns out to be a grand mansion with all mod cons. When the couple turn up at the house several mysterious things happen, who is the man in the beanie hat who keeps turning up? Why does the neighbour insist that the owners of the house do not have a daughter?
Everything hinges on just what happened to Libby in Thailand a few years ago.
A very absorbing read with a very unexpected twist and a great ending.

Brilliant book. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Full of twists & I was surprised how it ended.

The initial set up of the plot was a little bit far-fetched and did hold me back from ever fully engaging with it. The characters are reasonably well drawn and it has all the usual ingredients for a decent page-turner, but ultimately it was a little unsatisfying and my vague review reflects the fact that within a day or so I had forgotten most of what happened in it.

A brilliant 5 star book, full of intrigue and drama. I read this book in one day as I was desperate to find out the ending. Libby and her husband Jaime house swap with a couple they have never met. They swap their basement flat in Bath, for a luxury house in rural Cornwall. Strangely, Libby feels though she is being watched and when they get home discover their lives have been hacked! Read on for a rollercoaster of twists and turns and a fabulous ending!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for providing me an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this. There’s an excellent aura of creepiness across the whole novel. As soon as Libby and Jamie leave their flat in Bath, things get super weird and they only get weirder and creepier as the novel goes on. Libby comes across as totally paranoid, and the reasons why are revealed as the story progresses.

There are some fantastic twists and turns in this novel, revealed in flashbacks and memories. It’s certainly a novel that leaves you guessing, and I don’t think for a second I could have predicted the ending. Definitely a novel worthy of being called a ‘thriller’.

I would like to thank Claire Douglas, Penguin and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

I have not read any of Claire's books before this one and oh my gosh I think I picked the right one to read.

There are so many reviews going aound about this book so I feel that it would be better for me to tell you all how I feel about this book.

I absolutley loved it, well done Claire for gaining another reader. I was hooked from the very start, this only took me so long to read because i had a lot of other things to do, but when i started reading for the day I could not put this one down.

This is a really good suspence thriller with some upsetting moments which will have you on the edge of your seat and leave you awake all night questioning what you have just read but in a very good way.

I highly recommend this book. if Claire's past and upcoming books are as good as this one I will definatley be reading them.

An absolutely fantastic book! It starts off as a good thriller, then part 1 ends with such a twist that it was like a smack in the face!! From then on the story really picks up pace as more and more layers are revealed. Extremely well written with believable characters, you cannot go wrong with this book.
