A well-intentioned book but a book I really struggled to get through. While the advice was soothing, it felt like something I had seen many times already in other places.

I was lucky enough to get an early preview of this book through an advanced reader copy. It's worth noting that if you're looking for a book that will quickly heal your issues with eating or give you a magical insight that will unlock things, that's not what this book is. However I think that is a GOOD thing. To many times books on this topic give quick fix solutions rather than getting to the route of the problem. I love that this book delves deeper in the way that therapy would to help you understand what's sitting underneath your behaviors. It does mean that to see improvement you'll have to put the work in, and it may feel like work, but in my perspective it's worthwhile.

A very helpful workbook to teach any reader easily how to develop a better relationship with food and enjoy eating while being mindful. This is a good addition to any self help library and for anyone that needs to improve upon their eating habits. The format is pleasurable to read and easy to follow suggestions were appreciated. Well done. The primary key to the practice is to slow down and the author teaches the reader how to slow down and appreciate preparation and eating in a new healthy way.

A nice book about concentrating on being mindful about your wellness while eating and learning to slow down.

I received an e-copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

3.5 stars
This book is focused on the mindfulness of eating, and you can tell the author has a lot of experience with a mindfulness-based approach to creating and maintaining a healthy relationship with food. Each chapter offers a variety of reflections, affirmations, and meditation ideas to help the reader reconnect with what they really need nourishment for. The author covers physical, emotional, psychological, social, intellectual, creative, spiritual, and worldly nourishment. I especially liked the section on eating triggers, which is definitely worth exploring. Some of the chapters were repetitive and could have been summarized to help focus on the key points. I also wanted to see recipes for nourishment that didn't involve food to help break up the numerous worksheet/reflection sections. The SPRIGS acronym didn't work for me because it felt like a spin-off of SMART goals.

Healthy food is touched on briefly. Be aware that this isn't a prescriptive book, but rather an invitation for the reader to dig in and get to know what's really driving their desire to eat.

Interesting to think that our consumption of food could have a direct correlation to our overall sense of wellness--not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually, as well as deriving a sense of place in the world. Although I find these things to be good concepts, particularly that of gaining some self-control, I thought the book lacked both heart and depth. It gives a cold directive, with an attempt at care, but ends up lacking in true depth. I cant really explain it, you'll just have to take my word that it is lacking.

However this could be a great starting point for many people who are looking for some help and a place to start from in learning to control their own impulses and gain some self-worth. Anyone who already is in possession of the basic building blocks, should probably look for a book with a bit more gusto and breadth of charisma.

This book was very interesting and helpful. I really liked the part about analyzing your triggers.

It is a nice book, like the bazillions before this one that I read on the topic. I agree with the fundamentals: the different type of body to nourish, being mindful while eating, trying to analyse the triggers that make us turn to food and so on. My only disappointment is that this book doesn't really say something new about the topic, but if it was the first book I read about the subject, I would find it interesting and clear.

THANKS TO NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

A really good and thoughtful book if you are receptive to it. I don't think it will appeal to all overeaters and those with food issues but it will strike a chord with some. It is gentle, contemplative and energising. You need to engage your brain and spirit to immerse yourself in the process. Everything is geared towards slowing down and getting to the nitty gritty of the problem.. Even if you don't embrace everything there should be something positive or an exercise or tool that appeals to you. A book that definitely enables the reader to feel better just for the reading of it.
