If I was younger, I would’ve loved this collection of poetry. However, in my mid 20s now, I feel like these quick, short poems that are practically sentences aren’t as moving. The topics of the poems were also quite random between pages and didn’t feel connected.

Beautiful poetry collection. Possibly not for everyone... but worth a read for everyone to find out.

Good for readers who are seeking poems that are easy to digest and relate to. Not my personal favorite.

Although I enjoyed this poetry collection I did not think it was outstanding. A lot of modern poetry sounds very similar with a lot of the same themes (mental health, romance etc). I do not think this collection will be very memorable.

The poems in there where really cliché and repetitive. She is a LGBTQ+ author and she talked about a girl as a love interest which was different from what I read so far.

This is a fast read about love and heartbreak. I found it okay, but it's too similar to the works of other modern poets.

I recognize that poetry is a deeply personal journey and that it is all relatable to someone at the right moment. This was not the moment for me. It just din't connect. I thought there was a lot of fluff.

First off, Jellyfish are adorable. While I wasn't enamored with most of the poems, I can't deny that they rang true for more than a handful of experiences in my own life. I connected with them, even if I didn't particularly enjoy them as much as others here did. Here is one I LOVED:

The stars have died
And left their light to you
Remember this when
You feel weak
and worthless
and blue.

Overall, I'd recommend.

Okay, so I felt this poetry book was okay..It had more love poems than anything else...I didn't find it as memorable as I wanted it to be. The simplistic cover is nice, I was reminded of Milk & Honey cover. A younger version of myself would have preferred this poem book, but meh.

I had a hard time reading this book in one sitting, which is not hard to do due to the length.

It was not hard to read because of the material in the book, but more because I felt like I couldn't connect to the WORDS I was reading. Majority of this book felt like just words without a thought through emotion behind them. Being said, that is why it took me a while to finish. I tried to wait to read certain parts when I was feeling some type of way. This made a few selections a little easier to engage with but for the majority this was not the case.

Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me this book in exchange for a fair and honest review

I honestly don’t even think you can really call this poetry. Most of the poems are literally one line. The structure of the poems is amateur, as is basically everything about this book. The good part about this book is you can sit down and read it in less than thirty minutes, so you’re not wasting that much time. I face-palmed a few times reading this and didn’t even notice until my boyfriend kept asking, “what?”

Also, I would like to make a PSA:

Structure doesn’t

constitute

poetry,

this

doesn’t

make you

poetic

I rate this book 1 out of 5 stars. Is it possible to give it zero? Is that a thing?

I will admit, the art is cute.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I did not quite enjoy reading this poetry book. Some of the poems were good but most of them were simply plain and boring to read.

I believe poetry is a personal form of art that is subjective. It makes you feel things when it hits close to home. This book is no exception.

I found out about this book when I saw a post from a Twitter account I follow called Poems Porn. I read the last entry in the book entitled Looking for Ice Cream and I knew I needed to read more.

I wanted to like this more than I did. But for me, this is the kind of poetry that you either relate to or you don't.

The book is divided into different chapters depending on how you feel. Since I am neither in love nor heartbroken at the moment, the entries in chapters related to those emotions didn't hit me as hard. However, the chapters about soul searching and encouragement are what I really needed.

I think there's a right time to read this book. As written in the back cover,

"It is divided into sections to read when you feel you need them most."

Truer words have never been spoken.

At first I was not enjoying this book, but ended up really liking it. The last two parts were my favorite. I found the poems to be completely relatable even if you havent gone through a bad breakup. For me, it was more that losing a love... it was losing sometimes really good friendships. Also the last two parts were really inspirational, really eye opening. I will definetly recomend this book

This was a beautiful collection of poetry! It is split into sections based on emotion, which I thought was an interesting aspect and I appreciated it. Of course, it was a quick read and nice to read before I went to sleep. You could tell the author was really pouring her heart out, and she made me feel. I do recommend!

Simply put, I found this collection to be absolutely beautiful. Each poem was thoughtful and moving and an absolute joy to read. It touched my life at a time when I needed it most, so I could not help falling in love with Pillow Thoughts. Peppernell’s writing flows perfectly, and her poetry paints a stunning picture of life’s ups and downs. She eloquently coveys every poem—breathes life into them—and gives them a great amount of depth. These poems are the sort that readers can truly connect with, and each person’s interpretation will be different. They reach into every corner of our hearts and remind us that it is okay for us to feel—gives us a raw and vivid portrayal of what it is to be human.

This is a collection that I believe most people will be able to connect with and find meaning in. Every piece is straightforward yet incredibly profound—very accessible for anyone, no matter who they are or where they are in life. I found comfort in these words as they told me that I am not alone, even when I’m feeling lonely in the midst of my troubles. These poems transcend their own simplicity to create a meaningful depiction of the most basic and universal experiences we face in our lives. The reader will find their own unique meaning depending on their personal lives, and take away what their soul is craving at that moment. I look forward to reading more of Peppernell’s work in the future.

I had a huge problem while reading this book. It bored me.
I have to say that I did liked some of the poems, but most of them I did't even finish reading them. My problem is that most of them were long, sooo long. And I couldn't really connect with them. I couldn't feel anything relatable until the last 20 pages.
I am not saying that this book is "terrible"(I was going to say that is not bad but I changed my opinion). It's just that it wasn't for me. I had huge expectations in poetry since "The princess saves herself in this one", which was my first poetry book and became one of my favorite books of all time. So, reading this book, I tried to not compare them, but I did and that was worse. I felt that this book has a lack of "something". I wanted so bad to cry or laugh, or feel "something", to feel the emotions of the author, SOMETHING...and I couldn't.

This is a lovely collection of heartfelt honest poems and streams of thought that are very easy to relate to. The wording is simple and reflect all those feelings everyone struggles with sometimes.

I like this because the title tells you exactly what this is. Thoughts. Little bits of prose to cope with every life. I love that it is divided in sections that you can read when you need them. Sometimes it is a bit cheesy, sometimes a little too simple, but that’s fine.

No, the words and ideas won’t astound the world, but why do they need to? If you are in love, miss someone, or simply struggle sometimes to find your inner peace, you will probably recognise these words.
