This wonderful book is full of information about cakes and decorations.
It has a good wealth of knowledge, including beautiful pictures, techniques, recipes, and tips etc..
I adore cake making but find inspiration for decorations not always easy. So this book was a little gem.

A book all about cake decorating and the tools that go with it. How to use them and also how to make colors and frosting. A very useful book and one that can be used for any kitchen.

I hope to someday make beautiful cakes, and this book will help me do it. Clearly written instructions on techniques and recipes for different frostings to use for them will help me achieve that goal!

To me the instructions, all though clear, there were not enough pictures to actually show the technique. This book also seemed discombobulated and things didn't match up with what the technique they were talking about. Also, the pictures were very outdated to me and there was nothing about new things that have been popular for the last year or 2. Some things were new like Ribbon Pictures that I have never heard before and there were some things that were really cool that I have never done before but again the cakes looked old and dated. Its not a bad book but I don't know if I would actually buy it. I might try to find it in the bookstore to see if it set up different than my kindle.

All-In-One Guide to Cake Decorating: Over 100 Step-By-Step Cake Decorating Techniques and Recipes is a great tool to have for a new cake decorator like me. Definitely keeping it handy when needed. 5+ stars.

The color photos were amazing and brought the book to life. A great source for beginners or those with experience!

How many time have you admired cakes that have been beautifully decorated and thought you would never be that clever - well this is the book for you. And even if you are all ready clever there are still short cut, new ideas or tools to see. There are even some demonstrations for quick and easy decorations.
When my 4 children where small, I always struggled long and hard to make a special cake for their event - I would have loved a book like this.

wonderful cake decorating ideas .......... well explained with wonderful pictures............

This is a great book on how to do the basics in cake decorating. It includes a lot of pictures to show what the author is talking about. If you are new(er) to cake decorating, then I highly recommend this book!

Netgalley ARC Review -- Janice Murfitt delivers a very thorough and practical guide to cake decorating. The tips and hints provided throughout the book in special text boxes are especially important to beginning and intermediate cake bakers. For someone wishing to try their hand at something more advanced, Janice provides terrific step-by-step directions with photos to assist at every turn.

Just as the title implies, this book hits its mark without any problems and definitely lives up to it's title!. Lots of pictures for step by step directions, covering all the aspects of cake decorating for beginners!

3.5 stars
Although I did get some good pointers from this one, I think it is for medium to high skilled bakers. This is really not for a beginning student.

This is *not* a bake from one end to the other kind of cookbook. But it is certainly one you want in your library for special occasion cake-baking. When I was little, a German friend of our family would bake what she called a “Tooth Cake” when a child lost their first tooth. It was a floral extravaganza which we all yearned for. I’ll be darned if Murfitt doesn’t make me feel like a Tooth Cake is within my abilities someday.
With helpful advice on icings, frostings, cream fillings, marzipan, caramel, chocolate, and “how-to”s that include not just recipes, but schedules, equipment lists, and even hygiene advice. This is a remarkably thorough and useful book.

I received a copy of this book as an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This really is the all-in-one guide to cake decorating, it encompasses a wide variety of options to make your next cake beautiful. Each technique is thoroughly covered with details, photos and instructions. This is a comprehensive reference and guide for people wanting to learn how to style cakes. It covers topics from fondant to icing to making roses to equipment and includes recipes.

Some techniques I already knew, having had some fun decorating cakes a few years back. Still, a great, helpful resource for someone just starting out, looking for instruction. The pictures were a nice, easy way to not get lost while trying to understand some of the techniques.

This book is difficult to rate. The content is great, but you have to put it together like a puzzle. Chapter titles are split and placed throughout the chapter. Some missing letters in words. Partial sentences. If you can get past that, the book gives some great ideas & instructions. The pictures are nice, too. So how did I rate it? Split the difference and give it a 3. It could be a 5 with some good editing.

Very helpful whether you are a beginner or a pro at cake decorating. Helpful tips.

Fantastic reference guide for any interested person wanting to get into decorating, either as a hobby or a profession. Included inside is a list of various equipment and explanations of what any why you need or will want each item as well as detailed lists of different filling, toppings, etc. As well as many recipes for different cakes, ways to style or make look great. Wonderful resource guide!!
I received a free advanced copy in exchange for a fair review.

I've mostly skimmed this so far but I'm really looking forward to trying out some of the things in here. Seems a very comprehensive guide to decorating cakes for a complete newbie like me. There are lots of pictures showing the various techniques and finished products, these show up far better on my Fire than they would on my Paperwhite where I think a lot of the detail would be lost.
There are chapters dedicated to the different ways of decorating a cake. Butter cream, royal icing, fondant, chocolate, ribbons, flowers etc. I like making cakes and can make ones that taste pretty good but they look terrible so hoping a few of the tips in here will help. Not sure I'm quite up to making flowers and doilies and all those fancy sorts of thing yet, especially with a two year old “helping” me but if I can get one iced reasonably I'll be happy with that.
Lots of information on the different techniques, the different pieces of equipment I now want to rush out and buy so I can try some of the techniques in the book.
