Awesome book! Just in time for summer, too! The kids are gonna love this stuff! Lots of recipes for various types of slime- even edible! if it's kept outside, there should be no issue with the stuff getting onto furniture, carpeting, etc... I can't wait to make it with my kids!

I have been waiting to create the slime recipes until my grandson was over and it was well worth the wait. We have had so much fun using The Slime Book by DK Publishing to mix up crazy creations. Let me recommend the activities be supervised because you sure don't want this stuff dangling from your kitchen lights or smeared on cupboard handles. Our all time favorite is Popping Slime but we didn't have nearly enough Pop Rocks for us and the mixing bowl!
Full Disclosure: I was allowed to read a copy of this book for free as a member of NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not influenced to give a positive review.

As the parent of a tween who has made buckets of slime I have bought gallons of glue and bags upon bags of things to add to it. My mixing bowls and measuring cups have disappeared for days at a time and every storage bowl I own is filled with slime.
In spite of all that, I will still be purchasing this book. It's really that good. A huge selling point is the recipes. They're colorful and creative. There are lots of pictures and step by step instructions. Plus the recipes are borax free. How awesomeis that? (Borax may be a naturally occurring substance, but so is arsenic 🤨)
This is a wonderful book with easy to follow instructions. A child will find it easy to follow. And it would be great for a teacher to use in class.

Kids are super into slime, and this is the perfect book to teach them how to make different types of slime. Parents may not appreciate it as much - we’ve been finding slime is pretty messy at the library!

Making slime is all the craze right now with kids. So, my daughter was super excited to read this book. The format of the book is easy to read and has lots of visual interest. My children have loved DK books for years, and this one doesn’t disappoint. The book has a lot of different slime recipes (including edible slimes) and also explains the science behind the slime. Each recipe has easy to follow directions, lots of pictures, how long it will take to make it, difficulty, and any necessary warnings. I appreciate that all ingredients used are safe and don’t contain harmful substances. Get ready for serious fun with all of these recipes.

I received an advance reading copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not obligated to write a positive review.

Full of a variety of types of slime recipes, including edible slime. This book would be great for a tween girl who enjoys crafts but I will personally be holding off on these very cool projects 'til my toddler is a little less likely to eat or smash them into the carpet. Very creative.

REVIEW

I requested this book hoping I could get my boys involved in experiments and this book does not disappoint! I've pored over it to ensure it's all 100% safe and the recipes all use safe ingredients and the experiments look super fun! This is definitely a great winter activity to keep them busy when it's too cold outside!

This book is so much more than a list of slime recipes. For each type of slime, there is a nice science bit. This makes each activity fun and educational. As a mom, I love opportunities to teach my kids.
The book is colorful, keeping a kids attention. I am also a fan of the warnings that some of these may stain clothing. This allows me to properly prepare prior to making this fun slime. There is also a box stating how long each takes to make, the level of difficulty, and that it is not edible. My six year old wants to try almost every single one of these! Looks like we will have tons of fun! There is a slime for everyone in this book.

If you’re looking for something fun to make in the kitchen, that’s just a little bit different, slime might be for you. When you want to make the perfect slime, The Slime Book has more than 30 recipes that can help you do just that.

There are two types of slime, Non-Edible Slime, and Edible Slime. You really won’t want to mix these up.

Before everything begins in the book, the Welcome page gives you a strict list of instructions regarding how to use the book. Encouraging users to read all the instructions carefully before starting anything, all the way down to how to handle various ingredients, I believe these warnings cover everything.

Before any of the recipes begin, the Index page includes a list of your Basic Slime Kit. These are all of the essential tools and ingredients you will need for most of the recipes. I found that the ingredients are extremely easy to source and should be found at any local grocery or dollar store.

The fascinating thing about the book is how many different kinds of slime there really are. I had no idea that so many different kinds existed.

Basic Slime, of course, is the first recipe but the recipes go on to include Stretchy Slime, Glitter Slime, Monster Slime, even Unicorn Slime and many more. There are even four different kinds of Edible Slime, and although Edible Slime might not exactly sound appetizing, they actually look kind of cool.

Throughout the book, there are excellent photos of each of the different kinds of slime, and each of the recipes has step-by-step instructions with step-by-step photos to assist along the way.

Each of the recipes includes the time it takes to make them, the difficulty level, and a non-edible warning where applicable. Some also include little tips about different ways of making the slime or the reason why it works the way it does, giving you a little bit of a science lesson.

While only 64 pages long, the book is full of information about slime and cool recipes for slime. It even goes so far as to explain Slime Storage and Clean Up Tips.

This book would be an excellent suggestion for anyone who wants their children to learn about measuring and creating. It’s also great if you’re having any kind of party because the kids would have a ball creating their own kinds of slime.

My daughters love all things slime related! They loved reading about the different kinds of slime and making new types. It goes along well with our science curriculum for homeschool - fun and educational!

The Slime Book: All You Need to Know to Make the Perfect Slime by DK is a great craft source that is not only fun but a learning experience. It also encourages kids to experiment to perfect their recipes. I found the chapter on edible slime interesting. The format makes these recipes easy for younger kids yet adds a level to challenge more experienced kids. The addition of difficulty level and time required helps with choosing what slime to make.

This book is a great way to introduce slime making to school age children. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The illustrations support the content well. Different slimes may entice children to make them first based on glow in the dark, sound effect, edible, or other qualities. Warnings are present when necessary. There are plenty of options and "fixes" if your slime is not behaving as expected. This is sure to appeal to young scientists, and parents will appreciate the reminders to keep things clean (including your hands) and dispose of any mess.

I received an ARC from DK Children via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I give this book 4.5/5 stars.

I have a few slime books now in my collection, and while they almost all have similar recipes, I found that this one was well done in terms of how the recipes are presented and the number of recipes. Not too many for it to become overwhelming, but not too few so that you run out of fun before you're ready to call it a day. The little bits of scinece, the photos, and the really easy instructions made it easy for my kids to follow and to also flip through when we weren't actively making slime. So far, the recipes we have tried worked and made just enough slime. As a parent, I also really liked the quick chart of how long it would take, etc. and the warnings like "may stain." If someone is looking for a good beginner slime making book, I'd go this route.

This is a fabulous book for every parent who's kids love slime. The recipes are simple and my son helped make different slime recipes. I highly recommend it to everyone who loves creating with their children and want their kids to have hours of fun.

My 12-year-old daughter has been making slime for a while now, so I thought she'd enjoy this book. She did find some inspiration and ideas to add to the recipes she was already using, but nothing really brand new. If you haven't tried making slime yet, this would be a perfect place to start.

My 11 year old son, who is completely into making slime, read this book with me. He really enjoyed the variety of slimes available to make. I appreciated that most of these could be made with items I already had in the house and didn't require a special trip to the store.

Our thoughts: This book is a collection of slime recipes, both edible (about 4 of the 30 featured) and non-edible. The recipes are not that different from each other, just a variation of the couple of basic slime recipes featured in the book. It does contain tips, interesting science facts, and the variations mentioned are fun.

While this book failed to meets its mark at our home, with me and my daughter, who is the acknowledged slime-expert, in our house, I think it will help those who are new to the making of slime, especially younger ones.

This seems like a good choice as a gift for a preteen who is fascinated by slime. While your preteen/teen has probably been swapping recipes with friends, this book has a few more kinds of slime and some more ideas for making slime even fancier. Well, if slime can be fancy. Most of the stuff looks like it's fairly obtainable. Expect your kid to need a bunch of clear craft glue and saline along with the fun stuff like glitter and food coloring.
I only tried one of the recipes in this book, but, the others looked similar to ones we've used in craft programs. There are also tips at the end of the book for troubleshooting your slime if it doesn't turn out as expected.
