A woman not-so-mysteriously comes back from the dead, only to find her reunion with her fiancé is not how she thought it would be. (I don’t feel that’s a spoiler, because with the dream at the beginning overdoing it to such a huge degree, the “major” twist wasn’t at all surprising.)
In a genre known for stubborn characters, this one goes beyond. I’ve climbed mountains more pliable than this guy. I liked her, but most sane women would have cut their losses no matter how deeply in love they might have been.
Just when he has a breakthrough, thanks to the last person he or we would expect, things go to crap again. Despite it being a cliché, this part was well done.
There were several parts I really liked, but more that I couldn’t stand. The last fight scene was too convoluted to picture. There’s a lot less erotica than expected, which is too bad because those scenes were written the best.
As a former Marine, the soldier patter made me laugh.

This is actually my second read of this book, the details came back to me as I was reading it.
I liked the overall plot of the story and especially Sage. She was strong and relentless when it came to Garrett. Not wanting to give up.
When Sage was deemed dead by the government, Garrett who is the best among the best in Special Forces, spirals downward so completely at her loss, he falls back on one thing that seems to ease his pain somewhat and that's BDSM. We don't get a lot of detail on it but sounding like when he needed to channel those feelings of rage and helplessness he sought that out. His best friend Zeke, who I liked was a Dom and clearly Garrett had Dom tendencies.
Going in for an extraction for 5 female civilians in Thailand, he finds Sage and her friend, alive. They traveled from Africa to the islands and end up in Thailand before getting caught. Sage is smart and good at evasion. Garrett is overjoyed, yet he pushes Sage away. Thinking that his "needs" are not for her and as she points out, he made the decisions without discussing with her at all. I love how she called him out on his crap. And it was crap. He threw every obstacle in the way. When a new threat comes to light the men make a men decision not to tell the women. That's men for you. These two have survived on there own for a year in the jungles. I digress. The book takes a nice twist and Garrett has to step up and do what he needs to do.
So how does that work out for him and Sage. Zeke and Rayna?
You have to read the book to find out.

Heartbreaking and sad book that will keep you motivated to carry on to the end. Garrett Hawkins was a man in love and although he was tough and strong, it was Sage Weston that kept him grounded, kept him alive, kept him sane. When Sage is kidnapped and thought to be killed in the jungle, Garrett becomes stone cold and nothing or no one can help him.

When he and his team find a group of kidnapped women and he realizes Sage is among things take an even darker course.

Can Sage now save Garrett? Will the pain he felt ruin what they once had?

I really loved this book after I got through a little of it. I was kind of confused at the beginning and had a hard time with it at first, but after a few chapters it took off and I couldn’t put it down.

Garrett was devastated when the love of his life Sage was believed to be dead. The entire next year his life was as dead as he thought Sage was, but when he goes on a mission little does he know that Sage had been taken hostage and had been there for the last year, but her “Hero” saves her from her year in hell and is bound to protect her from the hands of these men who are still after her. There relationship after all this time should be amazing, but it takes a lot of time and determination on Sage’s part to get Garrett back to her.

Love this book! The story was well written and an amazing read!!!! I love an emotional read! There is adventure, love, lost love, found love, and at times humor and sadness. Garrett is very broken when the love of his life is kidnapped and killed with her medical unit (so he thinks). Sage fights to stay alive after being kidnapped (not killed) to return to Garrett. Once they are reunited... can they rekindle the love they had? So much time and so many changes- Read the book and enjoy the ride!

Garrett Hawkins is my man yes I said that right back off ladies he is all mine. I absolutely loved this book it was fantastic in so many ways. The plot was suspenseful and kept me on my toes however it didn't drag on. Angle Payne is phenomenal I can not wait to read the next book!

Saved by Angel Payne is much more than your steamy, hot, super hot (did I already say that?) love/lust story. There is so much pain in this story and while BDSM plays a part, the emotional pain is excruciating to read and to feel. Angel does a great job at putting us in the story and feeling what each of these characters is feeling with neither of them having the ability to express it...at least not fully.

Garrett believed his fiance dead over a year earlier. Until his unit of Special Forces was sent in to rescue some American women held hostage. Sage, Garrett's fiance was one of the women. She was alive, and he vowed then to keep her that way. He became so protective, that he was even protecting her from himself. It took her being kidnapped a second time, when he did let his guard down, that made him really open his eyes to what she really needed from him, more than his protection, his love, his dominance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
This is my first time reading An Angel Payne book and I LOVED it.
Garrett is unyielding in his dedication and devotion to being part of a Special Forces Unit. Built like a tank, but also a prisoner to his dark desires, he finds himself in a constant struggle to come to terms with them. His will to live is almost non-existent after finding out his fiancée Sage was kidnapped and killed in the jungles of Thailand while on an aid mission. The guilt he feels in not being able to protect and save her have left him devastated.
One year later, Garrett volunteers to go on a search and rescue mission. He really does not care if he lives or dies at this point in his life. The love of his life is gone, he is an empty shell and his only goal is getting the job done. He is shocked to find Sage amongst the prisoners.
They are both home safe and sound but the two of them each now have demons that have surfaced as a result of both their experiences. Garrett believing that Sage was dead and is now alive, and Sage definitely fighting the demons and horror she had to endure for over a year. Garrett has closed off his true self to Sage because if he reveals it to her, he believes she will no longer want or love him. He does not want to risk that now that she is safe with him again.

This book just didn't do it for me. I thought the premise was great but it could have been executed better. I thought it was cheap for Sage and Garrett's first time after being reunited to be in public. I couldn't connect with the characters or relate to anything they were going through. It was pretty hard for me to want to pick up this book and get through it.

Gosh, this book started off heavy! I went into this book blind.... based on my enjoyment of Angel Payne's previous work (which you should totally check out). I didn't read the blurb, the cover offers no clue as to what the book is about. I had all kinds of thoughts about where the book might be going, and I was so pleasantly surprised and shocked with where Angel took the story. Read this book, you will not be disappointed.

This was my first book by Angel and I was very happy to discover her as an author. This novel was sexy as hell and had all the qualities I look for in a romantic suspense novel. Story was well researched on all topics discussed and addressed. Can’t wait to read mire from this author .

The Honor Bound Series is off to a fantastic start! This story of love lost then found is suspenseful, action packed, and hot, hot, hot! Garrett and Sage get a second chance at love after Garrett, who is a special forces soldier ends up saving his fiance, Sage, who he believed was dead. Sage endured a year of terror and hardship and her reunion with Garrett while joyous ends up being fraught with danger. After an emotional rollercoaster and a bumpy ride these two get their HEA and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

After the death of his wife over a year ago, Garrett cannot seem to function without hatred and control. When he and his Special Forces teammates attempt to save a group being sold as sex slaves, Garrett’s life comes to a standstill when one of the woman he is saving ends up being his wife Sage. When they return home and try to get back to a normal life Garrett cannot get past that she needs to be treated like glass when all Sage wants is for her husband to dominate her and take control. But when Sage is kidnapped again and Garrett has to go undercover as her buyer does he fully understand what they need as a couple. But will it be too late and the mission go south or will they finally get their HEA? With beautifully written characters and a storyline that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat, this story is a must read. I cannot wait for more in this series.

Garrett is a member of an Elite Special Forces Unit. He works hard and has no regard for his own life, not since his fiancé, Sage was kidnapped and killed on a rescue aid mission. He has been living as a shell of himself for over a year. All of that changes when he and his team are sent ona mission to save some aid workers in Thailand and he finds his fiancé alive having survived the past year.

Sage wants to move forward and get her life back. What she doesn't know is that her captors don't like that she has gotten away and put a price on her head. Garrett keeps this from her and tries to keep her safe. He draws from the darkness inside of him that has kept him going for the past year. Garretts need to dominate scares him and he is worried that if he lets Sage see the darkness that it will push her away. Will Sage get him to open up and embrace it or leave to start anew?

I am not enjoying this one, just too brutal for me. Best I stop and DNF. I was forced to include a star rating which I didn't want to do as I did not read the entire book. It was just not to my taste.
