Sage has been missing for over a year is found by her fiance Garrett Hawkins. Garrett, who is Special Forces, has been grieving over her murder by drinking and taking on dangerous missions.
It did take me awhile to get into the story line.

Saved put me through a wide range of emotions , it made me laugh, it made me angry, and most of all it made me happy.
I started off angry with Garrett, with also feeling sorry for him. He had just saved his fiancé Sage and while she was trying to open up and explore the possibilities of him being her dominant and experimenting with BDSM, he was busy trying to protect her from himself. It’s like he lost his reason for living.
The second time Sage gets taken my heart literally shattered for not only her but for Garrett. Sage had a strength and held onto the hope of Garrett finding her even in her darkest time. When both realizing they were holding back from one another, not only with their feelings but with the desire to explore BDSM together they really start to communicate better with one another. They developed such a deep connection that it left me completely overjoyed for them.

This book is absolutely worth reading. You will find yourself routing for Garrett and Sage and wishing destruction on the bad guys! If the next book is anything like the first I know Angel Payne’s readers surely will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to read Cuffed! Great job Angel Payne!

This is the first novel I've read by this author, and it's apparently one of her earlier novels that has been repackaged, but it was new to me and so I'll treat it as such. It starts out scorching and is an extremely graphic novel with very explicit BDSM scenes, and if that's not your thing, I'd suggest you pass this one by. Although the writing was quite good, I did find some of the story elements problematic, and so could only give his novel 3.5 stars.

The hero, Garrett Hawkins, is a Sergeant in Special Forces, who, more than 14 months ago, was devastated when he learned of the death of his beloved fiancee, Sage Weston, who was missing and presumed dead in Botswana when her van exploded and nothing but ashes were found. Although he tried to have her death investigated further, he couldn't convince anyone that it was worth the risks involved. Since her death, he's found solace in alcohol and his dreams of her, and he continues to accept and go on very dangerous missions, since he no longer cares whether he lives or dies.

Garrett's latest mission takes him to Thailand, where his objective is to break up a sex trafficking ring that has been abducting and selling American women into sex slavery. Imagine his surprise when he learns that among those women are Sage and her friend, Rayna. Garrett is thrilled to discover that the love of his life is alive, and this is where I began to have problems with this story.

Once Garrett and Sage return stateside, rather than focusing on Sage's mental and emotional state after more than a year of captivity and being beaten and forced into sex slavery, the author instead focuses on Garrett's mental state. Frankly, I was expecting Sage to have serious issues with any sexual contact, even from the man she loves, and to require therapy to overcome her ordeal--but she doesn't have so much as a nightmare, and she can't wait to climb into bed with Garrett, but he's the one who hesitates.

In the past 14 months, while presuming that the love of his life is dead, Garrett has discovered that he has a dominant side, and in a strange juxtaposition from other BDSM novels I've read, he's the one who's afraid to release his inner Dom on Sage. While trying to keep her at arm's length, he fails to recognize that Sage is turned on by his dominance and is more than willing to explore it with him, and she doesn't understand his shame over his dominant thoughts and urges or why he keeps withholding that part of himself from her.

It takes a second abduction by the sex traffickers and another action-packed and violent rescue attempt before these two characters finally become willing to explore their inner Dominant/submissive sexual proclivities, and when they do, the scenes between them are scorching, and definitely for mature readers only.

In addition to some of the hottest sex scenes I've read in some time, and an interesting premise, this novel also features some interesting secondary characters, such as Sage's friend, Rayna, as well as Garrett's Special Forces comrades, who, I'm hoping, will appear in later episodes in this series. All in all, this was a well-written, seriously sexy read, I just found my willing suspension of disbelief stretched to its limits by Sage's lack of emotional trauma after what must have been 14 months of hell. If her friend and fellow captive, Rayna, is featured in the next book in this series, one which I'm eager to read, I hope the author takes her mental state into consideration.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Talk about your emotional roller coaster rides but in the dark kind of way. A Thrilling, dangerous, sexy, sweet, engaging and passionate romantic journey that brings this amazing couple a second chance.

Garrett Hawkins is a strong, sexy, passionate alpha male that has taken on the most dangerous aspects of his special forces units assignments since losing the love of his life and giving up on caring if he lives or dies. Sage Weston, was kidnapped and presumed killed with her medical unit a year ago until his latest assignment takes him to rescuing kidnapped aid workers and he finds her among them. Can they make since they have had a year between them and Garrett kind of turns to the dark side. Sage is also rethinking how she wants this relationship to turn. Can they work together and find each other again or will the candle burn out.

From the suspense to the twists and turns to the hot hot hot romance, I could not put this book down.... and spoiler alert....
that kidnapping? HEART BREAKING! I didn’t know what emotion to feel from one moment to the next. I’m immediately heading to download the next in the series.

This novel took a bit of a dark turn for me. Garrett Hawkins was in love with life and his woman Sage, when she was kidnapped and killed. Garrett was devastated. However, Garrett and his special forces unit are called to rescue a group of kidnapped aid workers and Sage is among them. Wonderful news, right? However, somewhere along the way, Garrett has gotten into S&M and wants to be the dominant. So their first time together he treats her as his submissive. Amazingly, after being abused during her captivity, she is okay with this? And wants him to be her dominant? Well then. I just can't see that happening.

I can honestly say I cannot believe that I have never read anything by Angel Payne before. Saved was everything. Garrett and Sage are going to be tough to follow, even for Zeke in Cuffed.

Both of them are dealing with PTSD after Garrett rescues Sage from a sex trafficker. Both have obviously gone through many changes over the year Sage was gone and their relationship becomes rocky. They find a way to fix not only their relationship but themselves as well.

This book contains many triggers: kidnapping, sex trafficking, BDSM are some.

If your looking for your next favorite book, read Saved by Angel!

I absolutely loved this book. Garrett and Sage are a perfect couple!! Sage is Sassy and spunky and Garrett is straight laced and is head over Heels in love with Sage.

I was intrigued at the start of this book by the premise. However, once the "action " started I lost interest. Some of the scenes were not believable ( women who have been abused for over a year will not in my opinion be so ready to engage in sexual relations or even relationships) they need time to heal.

Garrett and Sage are one hot couple.. After Sage being kept prisoner for over a year she is reunited with her fiancé G and the games begin...
But their time is not to be theirs immediately. They have onbstackes to overturn and situations to escape from.
This was my first time reading Angel Payne books and I loved it!! This was an addictive read for adults who don’t mind reading about BDSM and slavery.
Huge praise for the author on a captivating read

Saved
Honor Bound #1
Angel Payne
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great story by Angel Payne. I never know what to expect when I pick up one of her novels. It’s never just a typical romance.
The beginning of this story was so intense and so difficult to imagine the terror Sage and Rayna had to endure.
And poor Gage has just spent the last year of his life mourning his fiancé he thought had died.
The characters and the relationships are so strong and impressive. They have all been through some traumatic events and the ways they overcome them are quite creative.
Such a great first book to this series. I can’t wait for more to come out.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

First off you should know this is book was previously released under the title of Saved by his Submissive in 2014 but now it has a new name and cover. Saved by Angel Payne is the first book is her Wild Boys series.

I hate to admit it but this book was a miss for me completely but it's mostly because that you'd think after 400+ days as a Human Sex trafficking hostage there would be more said about therapy after her ordeal and a doctor's exam. But nope it's just jump in bed with her boyfriend and ask for sex. While I have read BDSM in the past and loved it this just book wasn't my cup of tea

Garrett is a Special Forces soldier mourning the loss of his fiancee and he's turned to booze to forget which worries his team of how well he can do his job. Imagine his surprise when they raid a sec slave auction and find both Rayna and Sage among the women being held. Sage was in the kidnapped when her caravan was attacked by soldiers wanting only one thing sex slaves. Both Rayna and Sage manage to stay alive being bought and sold but staying together.
Once rescued Sage immediately wants to go to bed with Garret but he decides this isn't the time. But King escapes and suddenly turns up wanting to kidnap the girls again but Garrett's team doesn't tell them that King is back. I just couldn't get into the book beyond this.

I give Saved a 2.8 star rating but it just wasn't the book for me.

A woman not-so-mysteriously comes back from the dead, only to find her reunion with her fiancé is not how she thought it would be. (I don’t feel that’s a spoiler, because with the dream at the beginning overdoing it to such a huge degree, the “major” twist wasn’t at all surprising.)
In a genre known for stubborn characters, this one goes beyond. I’ve climbed mountains more pliable than this guy. I liked her, but most sane women would have cut their losses no matter how deeply in love they might have been.
Just when he has a breakthrough, thanks to the last person he or we would expect, things go to crap again. Despite it being a cliché, this part was well done.
There were several parts I really liked, but more that I couldn’t stand. The last fight scene was too convoluted to picture. There’s a lot less erotica than expected, which is too bad because those scenes were written the best.
As a former Marine, the soldier patter made me laugh.

This is actually my second read of this book, the details came back to me as I was reading it.
I liked the overall plot of the story and especially Sage. She was strong and relentless when it came to Garrett. Not wanting to give up.
When Sage was deemed dead by the government, Garrett who is the best among the best in Special Forces, spirals downward so completely at her loss, he falls back on one thing that seems to ease his pain somewhat and that's BDSM. We don't get a lot of detail on it but sounding like when he needed to channel those feelings of rage and helplessness he sought that out. His best friend Zeke, who I liked was a Dom and clearly Garrett had Dom tendencies.
Going in for an extraction for 5 female civilians in Thailand, he finds Sage and her friend, alive. They traveled from Africa to the islands and end up in Thailand before getting caught. Sage is smart and good at evasion. Garrett is overjoyed, yet he pushes Sage away. Thinking that his "needs" are not for her and as she points out, he made the decisions without discussing with her at all. I love how she called him out on his crap. And it was crap. He threw every obstacle in the way. When a new threat comes to light the men make a men decision not to tell the women. That's men for you. These two have survived on there own for a year in the jungles. I digress. The book takes a nice twist and Garrett has to step up and do what he needs to do.
So how does that work out for him and Sage. Zeke and Rayna?
You have to read the book to find out.
3.5 stars

Heartbreaking and sad book that will keep you motivated to carry on to the end. Garrett Hawkins was a man in love and although he was tough and strong, it was Sage Weston that kept him grounded, kept him alive, kept him sane. When Sage is kidnapped and thought to be killed in the jungle, Garrett becomes stone cold and nothing or no one can help him.

When he and his team find a group of kidnapped women and he realizes Sage is among things take an even darker course.

Can Sage now save Garrett? Will the pain he felt ruin what they once had?

I really loved this book after I got through a little of it. I was kind of confused at the beginning and had a hard time with it at first, but after a few chapters it took off and I couldn’t put it down.

Garrett was devastated when the love of his life Sage was believed to be dead. The entire next year his life was as dead as he thought Sage was, but when he goes on a mission little does he know that Sage had been taken hostage and had been there for the last year, but her “Hero” saves her from her year in hell and is bound to protect her from the hands of these men who are still after her. There relationship after all this time should be amazing, but it takes a lot of time and determination on Sage’s part to get Garrett back to her.
