"My Hero
My Heart"

Heart pounding, sexy adventure with Saved by Angel Payne. The first of her new Honor Bound series has hit it off with a showstopper and if the first book has any inclination for what's to come, I can only assume many readers will be on the edge of their seats wanting more.

Saved revolves around Sgt. Garret Hawkins who lost his fiancé Sage to rebels. Years later out in Thailand on a mission to free missionaries he finds his soul mate again. But years have past which changes a man. Can he bring Sage over to his darker side or will he hinder his future and bury his need for the more controlled/Dominant side for the mere aspect of 'normalcy'?

"He was either going to understand, once and for all, that his burgeoning Dominant was one of the best things that had happened to their relationship, or he'd choose to dive back in to his self-condemnation."

Sage's hero has finally rescued her after all the running and surviving she has had to endure. However, even though on solid ground with the man of her dreams, he is hiding his true nature. She knows something is lurking, but Garret is a locked box. She sees the Dominant side that wants to be unleashed, but can she help him understand that there is no "normal" in any given relationship?!

With stakes on high alert, Sage is truly not free from the bonds of Thailand. Can both survive the rebels and secrets before it's too late?

Fast pace, full of adventure at every flip of the page. Angel Payne doesn't hold back with her newest series. Garret has a hard time with what is right and what he 'thinks' is wrong in a marriage, so when Sage re-enters the scene he struggles with his Dominant side on how to treat her. I loved how Angel illustrated how a Dom struggles internally and that the past held him back.

As a fan of Angel's past work, I was ecstatic to review for Saved. Not only is she an excellent writer, she excels in capturing the readers attention with every description, plot detail and love connection. I have never been disappointed in her books and Saved is no different. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I hope Zeke's story is next with Rayna!

Saved is the first book in the Honour series and is also the first book I’ve read by Angel Payne.

This book had a lot of suspense and some very steamy scenes to keep the heat levels going.

It starts off as a rescue mission to save Sage from Thailand. Sage was captured while doing missionary work in Botswana along with her friend Rayna. They’ve survived on their own for over a year but when Garrett, her fiancée, finds her will she still be the same?

This book was at times a bit of a slow burn but the ending definitely sells this book!

I look forward to reading the next book!

Fantastic! I'm all about a good military romance (having spent 9 years in the Air Force). My heart broke for Garrett and how he coped with the news of Sage's death....until he makes the discovery that Sage isn't dead. I gotta admit I wanted to shake some sense into him once he's got Sage again. I get his coping mechanism and how he likes his sexual activities to be something rougher, but dude, you got a second chance and you wanna act like an ass when it comes to Sage? And not telling her everything she needs to know, especially since it does involve her situation? Not cool man. But this story still kept me riveted until I got to the end.

I received an ARC from Netgalley. I enjoyed this book and the action and romance it exuded. Garrett and Sage had major chemistry there was no doubt about that. The only part that bothered me was how selfish Garrett came across. I mean the women was thought to be dead and all he thinks about is his needs or shame of his needs instead of focusing on her and if she was ok. But I do have to say the heat far outweighed this discrepancy.

Garrett has lost the love of his life and he is struggling in every area of his life. That is until his latest mission brings back more than just memories. Can he accept the changes in him enough to grab at a second chance?
Saved by Angel Payne is first in her Honor Bound series. However this is a re-release of Saved by His Submissive. I enjoyed Garrett. He was struggling first with the loss of Sage and second with his need to dominate sexually. Ms. Payne does a wonderful job of showing Garrett in the depths of despair as he uses work to work through his grief. I love that even though Sage “rises” from the dead, her relationship with Garrett doesn’t pick-up as if nothing happened. Both her and Garrett have changed and while their sexual needs are in sync, outside of the bedroom needs work. I like that Sage pokes the bear so to speak and forces Garrett to really look at not only himself for also their relationship. This story is well written and an enjoyable read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to Ms. Payne bringing us more.

He saved her life…she saved his soul.
Read this book as part of Net Galley ARC for an honest review
I can't say enough about this book. Garrett Hawkins part of a special forces unit lost his world Sage Weston only to stumble across her during a mission in Thailand. Can they reconnect and make their love endure the many changes that has happened during the last year?

I have to say that I now love the special forces. I am not crazy about books about military men but this one I think has gotten me convienced I need to read more. Hot and steamy is the way to describe Garret he is my new leading man.. thanks to #Netgalley for letting me read this wonderful book as an ARC.

What an awesome read.
I took this book on a whim but I am so glad I did. The story is that Garrett lost his fiancé to insurgents a year ago and ever since has mourned her loss and recently had very explicit sexual dreams about her. When the call comes to raid the premises of a war lord the thought is that he will be unable to handle what he will find there.
I wanted to read this book slowly but reached 20% in two nights and the remainder in one sitting. The story line just becomes so exciting and involving.
Can't wait to read more from this author.

Saved - Honour Bound by Angel Payne

This story interested me from the beginning, with its story connections to Special Ops, humanitarian workers and human trafficking but I wasn’t prepared for the emotional connections that Angel Payne was able to establish in just the first few chapters.

Garrett and Sage both have their demons but when they are ripped apart by a human trafficking ring leader, both are set to test their limits.

Garrett throws himself into his operations with his team, thinking the love of his life is dead and buried after a year, while Sage and the other captives must survive the inhuman conditions of their captors.
Exploring some darker subtexts like BDSM and the brutality of the traffickers, these subjects were handled with great discretion and care by Angel Payne.

Some seriously rough and tumultuous situations scattered through the story but underlying it all is a deep seeded passion and love between Garrett and Sage. The supporting characters add some nice balance and a little humour in some very dark situations and I particularly liked Zeke’s smart mouthed banter with Garrett and Rayna’s deep friendship with Sage.

Overall and enjoyable read that I’ll certainly follow with the next in series.

Thank you to Angel Payne, NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for the opportunity to review.

Garrett is one hot alpha man. Sage is one complicated woman. They make for one hot sexy complicated couple. They saved each other. Could not wait to see where the story would go. Loved this couple. A must read.

I went through a whole range of emotions with this novel.....Garrett is just trying to survive after learning that his fiancé was kidnapped and killed in Thailand. A year later while on a rescue mission he finds his beloved Sage alive. Now Garrett has to learned to reconnect with Sage all over again after becoming a dominant. Things get rocky and Sage gets kidnapped again and Garrett's heart sinks. While he pretends to buy her at an auction they both discover the joys and pleasures that the BDSM lifestyle can bring.

This story surprised me by pulling all of my emotional strings. Garrett, unyielding in his dedication and devotion to being part of a Special Forces Unit. Built like a tank, but also a prisoner to his dark desires, he finds himself in a constant struggle to come to terms with them. His will to live in almost non-existence after finding out his fiancée Sage was kidnapped and killed in the jungles of Thailand while on an aid mission. The guilt he feels in not being able to protect and save her have left him devastated.

One year later, Garrett volunteers to go on a search and rescue mission. He really does not care if he lives or dies at this point in his life. The love of his life is gone, he is an empty shell and his only goal is getting the job done. He is shocked to find Sage amongst the prisoners.

They are both home safe and sound but the two of them each now have demons that have surfaced as a result of both their experiences. Garrett believing that Sage was dead and is now alive, and Sage definitely fighting the demons and horror she had to endure for over a year. Garrett has closed off his true self to Sage because if he reveals it to her , he believes she will no longer want or love him. He does not want to risk that now that she is safe with him again.

We go through their difficult journey together with the hope that they will find each other again. He wants to keep her safe and for him to remain her hero. This was an emotional rollercoaster ride, and one you do not want to miss.....

This story got me in from the first page. I loved the premise and the writing in the first chapter. yet it lacked something. The writing and storyline lagged in the middle, but by the end, the good writing was back. Perhaps a lack of editing? I’m not sure. What I can say is the story finished strong. I think Ms. Payne is an author to watch.

This book was very captivating to read. Garret had lost Sage when she was kidnapped and killed over a year ago. He turned his feelings off and became ruthless in his job. He was always one of the first ones in when a dangerous situation came up. He really didn't care if he lived or died. He kept having very erotic dreams of Sage and him together. He goes on another rescue mission and he finds that she is not dead, just captive and being sold into slavery. Once she is rescued, he won't touch her as he is now into hard line kink and won't subject her to it. She tries so hard to connect with him and he isn't having it. This is where the story gets difficult to read. Garrett is soooo stubborn and won't even tell her she is still in danger. I would have been furious with him for that alone. More drama happens and keeps you involved to the end. It's a story that has a lot happening, but you can't put it down until you finish.

This couple went through so much. I love that the woman was strong even though it would have been easy to break. I highly recommend this book

When I read a romance novel, I'm not expecting reality, I'm reading for entertainment. However, this book was just so far off from reality that I found myself constantly shaking my head. I did finish the book just to see where it would go but honestly I don't get what this author was thinking with her plot lines.
First we have Sage who is declared dead by the Army when in fact she has been held by rebel leaders and human traffickers for over a year. During that time, she was never violated and only came close to being so on the night of her rescue. She is rescued by a Special Forces group that includes her fiance, Garret. He is so happy to get her back from the dead that he spends her first night back in a bar, with a prostitute??? All because he can't handle his desire to dominate Sage. Which would be understandable if he was doing it in deference to her possible trauma but he's not thinking of her at all! Then the first time they do engage in a dom/sub scene its while Sage is yet again being held prisoner by the traffickers and they are all watching? Seriously?
I get that the author was trying to deal with some of the mixed feelings of BDSM, but I feel like this was the wrong way to go about it. Perhaps it would have been better to have him question his feelings without having Sage kidnapped. Dealing with his issues while never addressing Sage just seemed weird.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Saved by Angel Payne is a story about Sergeant Garette Hawkins and his fiance Sage Weston's love, kidnapping, sexual desires and denials and ultimately their fight with King.
I was very excited with this ARC and dived straight into it with the belief to complete it in a day but alas! I couldn't. Not for my poor reading speed or other distractions but for some let downs in it.
As for the beginning, it is good as far as they were in Thailand but quickly started to pick its downfall for me when they were in the States. For one, Sage didn't tried to coax Garette out of his shell. Garette didn't explain the factors involving his behavior and most importantly, nothing (expect for the some wasted hots in the jungle) sexually happened between the two of them until of the 90% if the book. Although the ending was a little too abrupt, I like the fighting that Sage did.
I absolutely love the connection, love, devotion, adoration that Garette and Sage had. In supporting Zeke, Rayna, Wyatt, Josie and last but not the least, King were good in their part.
So, in short, this book was full of highs and lows for me but still, I await the arrival of next book in this series.
I would recommend you to give this one a shot.
