Nothing beats comfort food and no one can beat the Amish for their delicious food that is both nutritious and comforting. There is much to be said about their style of cooking, but it all can be summed up into one word, "YUM!"

The Amish Cooking Class Cookbook is part of the series with the same name. It is a gorgeous book that is full of information about the characters, beautiful photographs, hints and tips about cooking and recipes that will make your mouth water! You won't be able to read this cookbook without wanting to try most, if not all the recipes.

I was given an extended preview to view of this book and every recipe I tried from the preview was delicious! The Amish Dinner Rolls are fantastic and I love the Bavarian Mint Coffee. I was excited to find the Amish Friendship Bread along with the starter! I used to make this many years ago and LOVED it. Imagine my delight to find a recipe that included the starter!! Then there's the Baked Oatmeal as well as a Yogurt recipe that are musts to make. The Coconut Pecan Cake is not only delicious but easy, since you start with a box cake mix. Then there's the Caramels recipe - it's sooooo good and not difficult to make at all!

Unfortunately, there were no main dishes in the preview, so I cannot comment on the taste or quality of those recipes. I can say that every recipe I tried from the preview was fantastic, so I can only imagine that the main dishes will be the same quality as those I tried.

The book itself is gorgeous and I love the information that is included about the Amish and their lifestyle along with the recipes and how the recipes are used. There are also Scripture quotes throughout and those quotes are taken from the King James Version (the version of the Bible the Amish use). Amish Cooking Class Cookbook is well thought out and a delight for all the senses. It is one that will be picked up again and again - not only to cook out of, but to read and soak in all the beautiful photography.

A must for any collector of cookbooks and/or Amish living books.

A must read. If you really want to “cook from scratch “, this is the cook to have on your shelf. Easy recipes, not complicated,. If you hate to cook, you will begin to have the “joy of cooking”. Impressive, but easy. Simple ingredients. Great for beginners who are tired of supermarkets prepared food. A great way to save money, and eat healthier. I highly recommend this delicious cookbook

I enjoyed how Wanda Brunstetter wove her characters into the recipes of this cookbook. The history of the Amish people cooking was portrayed as beautiful and hard working.

Aside from just being the extended preview, I enjoyed paging through this one. The helpful hints at the front were very helpful. For example, when peeling potatoes, cover them in cold water so they don’t turn dark… Thumbs up! And you can have them sit like this overnight in the fridge and use them the next day. There’s also a helpful hint on the fastest way to peel potatoes. This is so nice to know while we are coming into Thanksgiving and Christmas Season. I’m also looking forward to trying the book's recipe on Eggnog for our tree trimming day coming up soon. Check this one out for delicious Amish cooking.
I received a partial digital copy of this in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I love cookbooks and can read them sort of like a novel. I must admit that when I received this book, though I shouldn't have been, I was a little surprised. The book contains a collection of recipes that Heidi taught in class in the author's Amish Cooking Class series. Even though I had not read the books in the series I was still amazed at the ease I could slip into this book. The variety of recipes come from women in various Amish Communities and I got really excited to see recipes that were from communities close to where I lived. Basically the series is about Heidi Troyer who is married, but has not been blessed with children and looking for a purpose she offers cooking classes to all ages in her home.

This book is divided into sections (chapters) that are very descriptive so you get a feeling for what's covered. For instance, Advice from Fellow Cooks was not only interesting but also helpful for any new cook or even a seasoned cook who maybe trying something new. Each section I found one or more recipes I plan to try. Each come with step by step instructions that are easy to follow.

This is a wonderful book that would make a great wedding gift or someone moving into their own home/apartment or even for someone like me who just loves cookbooks. Even though this book is a companion to the author's series I feel it's definitely a stand alone book.

*I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Although I have never read any previous work by this author, I still enjoyed the Amish details and character snippets . The recipes range from very simple to more complex and there were certainly ones I plan to try. Enjoyable and worthwhile.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.

In Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Cooking Class Cookbook, Wanda incorporates the beloved characters from her Amish Cooking Class Series with cooking basics and Amish recipes in a way that even beginner cooks will be able to follow along. Heidi Troyer, her students, and other contributors share over 200 recipes, along with tips to help keep things running smoothly in the kitchen. You’ll learn things as basic as how to boil eggs and knead biscuits, as well as slightly more complicated skills like building a German pizza and an Amish feast. Divided into traditional cookbook categories, there are recipes for everyone and it’s broken down to teach all of the skills for cooks of all skill levels to be able to work towards bettering themselves and their cooking skills so they can build up to some of the more complex recipes.

My aunt used to take me to an Amish buffet and I always loved the food. I particularly enjoyed getting to experience foods that I couldn’t try anywhere else. Since then, I’ve started reading and enjoying the Amish novels by writers like Wanda E. Brunstetter, Beverly Lewis, and more. And they always talk about the Amish foods and the recipes always sound so good. So, I was very excited to get this book so I could begin to learn how to cook some of the dishes that I haven’t gotten to eat since my teens, recipes that I’ve read about and imagined, as well as recipes that I’d never heard of. All of the recipes were done in a way that makes the directions simple to follow. And, if you’re a beginner cook, the skills that you’re going to need are taught in a simple, straight forward manner, so you can learn at your own pace and, then, build on what you’ve learned. I’ve always wanted to learn how to bake breads and this book was a great place to start. And the desserts were wonderful, too. In fact, there are very few recipes that I don’t see myself trying, at some point. I think this book is going to give me new selections for when we have company over, for potlucks at work and church, and even for simple dinners at home, with my family.

Interesting cookbook about the Amish traditions and gastronomic arts. The book contains good recipes such as Almond Milk from scratch.

Before I received this extended preview of the Amish Cooking Class Cookbook from NetGalley, I had no idea that Wanda Brunstetter wrote other books. After reading this preview, not only do I want the entire cookbook, I want to read all of her books! I loved the helpful tips scattered throughout, and the recipes sound positively mouthwatering.

Thanks to Netgalley, Barbour Publishing, Inc., and Shiloh Run Press for providing me with the free excerpt.

I love reading about the Amish so when I seen the recipes of the Amish I was thrilled. I have often visited Amish communities in Indiana and Ohio and I have never been disappointed with their food. Thank You Wanda for this book.

This book is filled with simple recipes that even beginner cooks could manage. The recipes are mingled with little snippets about the characters from Wanda Brunstetter’s books. This makes it much more readable than a typical cookbook.

Brunstetter always does a wonderful illustrating the life of the Amish. She continues with a cookbook full of Amish recipes - most of which look too delicious not to at least try once. I appreciate the care she takes in providing instructions and definitions for the beginning cook. Sometimes novice cooks are forgotten, mostly because most cookbook writers are experienced in the kitchen. Her directions and definitions are a boon to the beginner and a reminder for the experienced. A fun book to read and definielty has many recipes I plan to try.

You will really feel like you have visited an Amish home and feasted after making some of the recipes in this book! The beginning of the book offers some hints on cooking tender roast beef, fish and potatoes, along with making your own powdered sugar and buttermilk.
You are given easy recipes for bone broth, almond milk, and chocolate coffee smoothies.
The bread recipes sound delicious - and they include cinnamon bread, and the traditional Amish Friendship Bread!
There are descriptions of an Amish kitchen, and what most Amish people have to do before breakfast and during the day, non - Amish have it pretty easy!
You will enjoy making these recipes, there are even recipes for yogurt and pumpkin whoopie pies - enjoy!

Amish Cooking Class Cookbook What a yummy, delicious, fatten me up, outrageously scrumptious food. When you read the descriptions you think Oh these things they sound great. Then you make them and boy Oh boy are you sorry you did because they are too good to be true and they are very fattening. I think, but I trade some of the fattening things with good things and it works great. This book is so well worth the wait y'all.

I picked this book not realizing it was based on a series of novels. I have not read the Amish Cooking Class series by Wanda Brunstetter, but you don't have to read them to enjoy these recipes.

There are many recipes here that I think I would try - cinnamon rolls, coconut love bars, a couple of different breakfast casseroles, and more. However, the formatting of the ebook is terrible. I hope that will be fixed before it's released. If not, it would be best to look for a paper copy. Page numbers in different spots (like the middle of the page, the first line of a recipe, etc.); some recipes have duplicated instructions and missing instructions; the ingredient lists run together; the backgrounds are printed on one page and the text on another.

I will look for a paper copy of this in order to have all of the recipes as this is just a sampler!
Thanks to NetGalley, Wanda Brunstetter, and Shiloh Run Press for the opportunity to read this digital ARC for free in exchange for an honest review.

A little different from most cookbooks, The Amish Cooking Class Cookbook by Wanda E. Brunstetter is based on a series of Wanda's novels, I didn't get a lot of recipes or pictures but what I read, I enjoyed. Definitely wanting this spiral bound Amish Cookbook. I really liked what I saw in my gifted sample copy from NetGalley.

I'm always looking for new recipes to keep our meals interesting. I've tried several of these recipes and found many "keepers".

If you’re looking for an Amish cookbook—this one does have many Amish recipes that you may enjoy. However, be warned that this book compliments Wanda Brunstetter’s book series, The Amish Cooking Class. The beginning of the book focuses on characters from the series, their profiles, and favorite foods. This may seem strange to you if you’re picking this book up solely as a cookbook.

I love that this book gives a lot of tips and tricks for newbies. How to keep potatoes from turning brown while peeling or how to make staples such as bone broth. This would be a wonderful gift for a newlywed or someone who new to the kitchen.

The recipes are broken down into sections as follows:
Beverages
Bread and Rolls
Breakfast Foods
Desserts
Spreads and Pickles
Main Dishes
Soups
Salads and Sides
Snacks, Dips, and Spices
Miscellaneous Recipes
Recipes for Children

I’ve heard this book also contains recipes for DIY projects such as cleaners but my review copy is only a sample. Which is disappointing. But, I will definitely be purchasing a copy. I was able to sample enough of this book that I would definitely suggest it to others.

This book was provided to me by Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. All opinions are my own.

4.5 stars

This book is a companion to Brunstetter's "Cooking Class" series. There's a summary of the characters, as well as tidbits on Amish culture/history, and general baking tips. It's divided into various sections, making it easy to find the over 200 recipes included. The Amish are well-known for creating delicious, home-cooked meals. Traditional and non-traditional recipes are included, and many ingredients are easily accessible. This is a great book for cooks of all levels, from novice to expert. There are photos and scriptures included throughout. I may just have a new favorite cookbook.
