Fantastic chance to preview literature on the horizon!

I love these buzz periodicals. They give you a good sense of what’s coming down the publishing pipeline. I only wish they would add covers for the books, especially fiction. It’s difficult to assess fiction just from the title alone. But they do have excerpts from some of the books and that help tremendously. Thanks to Netgalley for providing and here is what I’m looking forward to:
Fiction

The Perfect Mother by Aimee Molly-already optioned for film by Kerry Washington
Night Hawks by Charles Johnson
A View Of The Empire at Sunset by Caryl Phillips
What We Were Promised by Lucy Tan
Number One Chinese Restaurant by Lillian Li
Severance:A Novel by Ling Ma

Non-fiction

Open Season: The Systemic Legalization of Discrimination by Benjamin Crump
Not That Bad: Notes from Rape Culture edited by Roxanne Gay
Barracoon: The Story of the Last Slave by Zora Neale Hurston
Factfulness: The Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World
The Prison Letters by Nelson Mandela

I really enjoy reading every issue of Buzz Books because every time I find many interesting books to add to my TBR. In this edition of Buzz Books 2018 : Spring/Summer I discovered books that had heard and after reading an excerpt from it I added it immediately to my TBR. I also found books that I didn't know but I look forward to learn more about them and read them.

Thank you for providing this Buzz Books list for the upcoming spring/summer book season. It's so helpful to have a list of publication dates and some reviews to help me get excited about the upcoming book season.

My TBR list grew in 2017 when I discovered Buzz Books and I have been looking forward to the 2018: Spring/Summer edition. The excerpts exceeded my expectations and I am so glad for the introductions to so many great books and authors. The book is broken down into three parts with excerpts from Fiction, Debut Fiction, and Nonfiction. There is also a detailed list of books and their release dates, so even after you have finished reading, you will still have many titles and authors that you can research( I know I did).I read over 25 of the books that I added to my TBR list in 2017 that I might have otherwise missed. I would have to list many, many titles if I wanted to share the books that grabbed my attention, but at the top of my list are Our Kind of Cruelty by Araminta Hall, Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage and Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney.
This a Read Now book, so what are you waiting for, download it now!Just a great way to preview books that will be published and I highly recommend this to anyone who loves to read. My TBR list is rejuvenated and I am doing the happy book lover dance.
Thank you, Publishers Lunch and NetGalley for making this terrific book available to anyone who wants to read it.

This is a great collection of excerpts of upcoming and published books in spring/summer of 2018.

It contains an introduction followed by a section of fiction, highly anticipated, emerging voices, debut fiction, commercial fiction, nonfiction, politics, social issues, science & technology, history & crime, essays, and biographies.

After that there are summary and excepts by publishers. I particularly enjoyed the excerpt for HOW TO WALK AWAY by Katherine Center.

Overall, a great list of buzzing titles for 2018.

This is such a fabulous way to get a peek at what is to come. In an overwhelming industry with hundreds of books being released on a constant quick pace, this is a great insider guide to plan what to put on your future TBR pile!

It's traditionally been the fall/winter season when publishers get the publicity juggernaut going full gear. It's therefore really exciting for me to see a fair number of big name authors' books being released this spring and summer season, 2018.

These semi-annual previews are available free for download from the Buzz Books website (or Amazon) and are invaluable for planning summer TBR lists, avoiding some books which the buzz has overhyped (or just don't fit with you personally), and one of my favorite uses, to stretch our boundaries. I am guilty, I admit it, of walking straight toward my favorite sections of any bookstore. I think the vast majority of us are guilty of the same... we have limited book budgets and time and want to stick with the tried-and-true authors who have traditionally delivered for us. When I find an enjoyable free way to maybe find a book which is a great fit for me without committing to a purchase first, it's a win-win. I have found a number of debut authors this way who have gone on to become fast favorites.

These collections are a great way to get a free 'taste' sample from authors who might well otherwise fly under your radar entirely.

Aside from the generous chapter excerpts included in the book, there's always a publishing preview with notable upcoming releases along with author and publisher info. I always find upcoming books from authors I love without having known they had an upcoming release. Valuable timesaver for that reason alone.

There's also a YA version which gets its own volume: Download available free from Amazon or at the Buzz Books website.

Five stars (though I -should- ding half a star for always making my TBR list grow by too much! How long can a human go without sleep I wonder??).
