This author is known for her emotional and romantic novels, and More Than Words did deliver exactly that.

Playing in beautiful France, which is on my bucket list and is one of my most favorite countries to visit, this love story was all kinds of romantic and emotionally touching. I must admit I don't usually read this author's books. I'm more the type that appreciates jerks and an edgy story with strong and kick ass heroines. But I wanted to read something different.

Callen and Jessica met as kids, struck up a friendship until one day Callen was gone. Jessica never found out what happened, where he went, or got a simple goodbye. Years later they accidentally met in Paris, and realized that they still felt drawn to each other after all these years.

This book is all kinds of romantic!!

Callen, struggling with secrets that could ruin his career and a past that still rears its ugly head, tries to keep their meeting as what it is - a short but heartfelt interlude for both of them. Throughout the years, Callen has become really good at keeping everyone at arm's length. Of course Jessica turns out to be the one that could make a difference in his life, unfortunately Callen is still very much stuck in a self destructive time of his life.

Their time in France is beyond romantic and everything I would love for myself. Deeply emotional getaway weekends, together Callen and Jessica explore a country full of rich history that gives this novel a charming second love story. The author added a captivating layer of history that was unexpected but definitely added to the romantic overall feel, but I'm not sure how realistic and authentic it was. That's something I would need to research.

At the end, the big emotional fallout was a bit cliche and predictable. Unfortunately I had a hard time getting through that particular scene. It was one of these 'close your eyes until it's over' kind of moments. But in the end, the author wrapped the story up beautifully with a touching ending that was in every way satisfying.

Besides Callen not being my kind of guy, and the predictability at times, I can see how this novel would be perfect for anyone that loves touching and emotional love stories, that tug on a reader's heartstrings.

I wanted to read this book because the blurb sounded really good. I’m a sucker for second chance romances, especially when the characters meet at a young age. I wanted to love this story but sadly it didn’t work out for me. I felt like there wasn’t enough of a backstory for me to be really invested with Callen and Jessica. When they are reunited and start to spend time together I couldn’t feel their connection. Both characters were blah for me and at times I found Jessica to be annoying and judgmental. Callen kept using his childhood to justify the mistakes he keeps making as an adult. It was just too much and I couldn’t continue reading. I know NetGalley has a I will not leave feedback but I am leaving feedback as to why I couldn’t finish this story.

More Than Words started off strong with an inviting and powerful prologue, but quickly lost momentum and appeal once the story started. I had no real reason to be intrigued by these characters and the connection they fostered many years ago when they felt like entirely different characters than who they were in the beginning. I didn't feel their sexual chemistry or really want to keep going in the story as there was no pull or draw to turn the pages, and ended up putting down the story many times over a month's time because I wasn't interested. I've enjoyed books by Mia before so I figure this story simply isn't for me, but I am looking forward to Mia's next book.

OMG! I have to admit that this is my first Mia Sheridan book. Yeah! And it definitely won't be my last.

"No one makes me feel like you, Princess Jessie. No one ever will."

This book was so brilliantly written from start to finish. It also helps that I've been to the Loire Valley so the book even felt more real to me. I also loved the parallel story with translation that Jesse was working on. Joan of Arc on her own is a phenomenal story but having this alternate idea of her companion was brilliant.

"One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to love without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying." Joan of Arc

"I'm here to save you."

Jessie lived in the world of words and adventure than one day on her wandering she finds her way into empty train box and finds Callan within the box. Then an easy friendship starts between the two while Jessie introduces Callan to music. As the two grow up Jessie's feeling also grow. Then one day Callan is gone and she never saw him again.

Well until many years later when Callan crashes back into her life but he isn't the boy she used to know. Instead he's portraying himself as a bit of a cocky bad boy within the composing world. And is a bit of a jerk. Even though Callan didn't recognize Jessie right away he was drawn to her and doesn't know why. One chance meeting again causes both to have conflicted emotions resurface.

As time moves forward, Jessie gets a job to do what she loves and ends up in the same place where Callan is vacationing, which causes both of these two to reconnect as friends.

As Jessie is unfolding the new truths and a secret love story she also finds herself living out a fantasy of her own.

"At some point you're going to have to take responsibility for your own life, Callen, instead of blaming everyone else. At some point you're going to have to stop being a coward. I sincerely hope you do."

Callan had a secret and when it came out I got why he acted the way he did, but I did feel it was a bit much for that secret but in that industry a hang nail would most likely be a big deal, so I see why he would want to keep it secret. Thankfully Jessie brings him out of cowardness. Callan conquering his fear was truly beautiful .

"Then write me love letters with your music. Write me songs that make my heart ache and my soul feel full. If you . . . If you have feelings for me, express them through your songs. I don't care. But don't live a life you don't want to lead. Don't become something you don't want to be. Don't throw away what we have because you don't feel worthy of me."

This book is about love and Miracles. I loved this story and can't wait to read more from this amazing author

4.5 stars!

This book is More Than Words. It's fate. It's friendship. It's love. It's loss. It's faith.
I could not put this book down. The writing is so good, it sucks you right into the story. Jessie and Callen are strong characters and have lots of depth. Their story begins with fate.

DNF - Had a very difficult time getting into this story. This was surprising as I've really enjoyed books by Sheridan in the past.

”The night was ... dim and lonely, and yet the princess continued on her journey, believing with all her heart that the prince wasn’t far behind and that he’d rescue her.”

Once again, Mia Sheridan has mesmerized me speechless with her moving words. I just went on an adventure so BEAUTIFUL and so BREATHTAKING that I am struggling to put More Than Words into words, words that broke me yet bonded me and made me whole. More Than Words is such a fitting title for a story that struck my soul and hit my heart hard. Be still my beating heart, a heart that still beats for this book days later. More Than Words—this lyrical love story—moved me so much that it stole my heart and etched itself on my soul. A soulful second-chance romance threaded with a spiritual Joan of Arc theme, More Than Words is HEARTBREAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL, a fairy tale of feels that forever marks the heart.

The plot paints a vivid picture with incredible detail, casting a glow on this story, transporting the reader to the beautiful French setting, lighting the words up with life. The French countryside setting swept me away alongside the stunning words. Tres beau! The hero and heroines’ journey was both a heartwarming and heartbreaking adventure. You’ll fall hard for Callen, the beautiful and broken prince whose music sings to the soul. You’ll fall hard for Jessica, the stunning and smart princess, a shot of light in the prince’s darkness. You’ll fall hard for the union and feel every word of the journey of this prince and princess. Their fated fairy tale will hold your heart in its hands.

”You make me feel like a hero.”

“You are. To me, you are.”

I don’t know if I can truly put into words the collision, the crashing of my heart felt when I read the beauty that Mia Sheridan brings to life. Beauty among the broken characters that help each other heal. Beauty in the second-chance romance and the journey of the these complex characters that capture the heart. Beauty in the spiritual element that strikes straight to the soul. Beauty in the eloquence of her words. Beauty in Mia Sheridan’s poetic and passionate writing that shines like all the stars in the universe. More Than Words is beauty meets broken. IT’S BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN. IT’S breathtaking and broken beauty at its best!!!

Live fiercely and without regret.

More Than Words, like its title, is so much MORE than its words, for it made me feel so much. With wondrous words filled with passion, promise, and poignancy, More Than Words makes you believe in love against the odds ... believe in light after darkness ... believe in a spirit on earth ... believe in the impossible. This story made both my mind and soul rich. More Than Words claimed my heart, blew my mind, and stole my breath from the very first page . . . and never stopped. This beautifully broken fairy tale that transcends time became everything from the beginning and stayed everything until the end. More Than Words is an epiphany ... so emotional ... so epic ... SO EVERYTHING.

”I want to be your prince.”

If I could recommend an author to readers whose words set the heart on fire, sing to the soul, and spark with eloquence and ethereal beauty that bring tears and touch every emotion, it would be the master storyteller, Mia Sheridan, whose latest love story, More Than Words, is a MOVING MASTERPIECE. My heart beat to the tune of the words: so passionate, so poetic, so piercing to the soul. This stunning story of soulmates sang to my soul—a heartfelt harmony and meaningful melody—where I felt the words were notes, the pages lyrics, and the stunning story a song that I felt everywhere.

”One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief, that is a fate more terrible than dying.”

More Than Words is not just a story but an EMOTIONAL JOURNEY, one that captured my beating heart and squeezed my soul. My heart was ripped apart and then put it back together ... several times. I’m still moved by this broken beauty, this book that OWNS ALL OF ME. More Than Words may be my new favorite Mia Sheridan masterpiece as it’s is one of the best romances this year and ever—UTTERLY UNFORGETTABLE!!! Moving and mesmerizing, More Than Words MATTERS.

💋💋💋💋💋💋 first, last, and forever ‘fairy tale’ kisses

Mia Sheridan always writes the most emotional stories and More Than Words was no different. I couldn't put this book down! Callen and Jessie were EVERYTHING. Second chance romances are some of my favorites and this one was heartbreaking, romantic, and oh so beautiful. I straight up devoured it!

Callen and Jessica's story is heart wrenching. Absolutely a punch to the gut. It's not my favorite book by Mia but it is powerful in it's own right. There's a lot of misunderstanding and a lot of drama. Maybe a tiny bit too much drama for my taste. But the characters are wonderful and I really appreciate Callen's background.

After having been friends as children, it was beautiful to see them fall in love and for Jessica to become Callen's muse. The scenery of the story taking place painted a beautiful picture in my mind and added something special to the story.

Mia has never disappointed me but I tell ya, I was terrified we might not get an HEA. The angst is high! So glad I had the opportunity to read this book and can't wait for Mia's next.

I struggled with this title, and I have ultimately decided to add it to the titles I did not finish. This was my first try with this author, and I have heard a lot of great things about her books. While the writing was strong, I was not able to relate to the characters. I tend to struggle more with books when the characters are younger, as I need to believe the actions of the characters are the actions of those at their age...and, I just didn't feel that was the case with this title.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review.

Get ready to laugh, cry, rage and experience all kinds of feels! This standalone friends to lover’s romance, by Mia Sheridan, will leave you emotionally spent and satisfied by the time the last page is turned!

Callen and Jessica meet as children and for the next year they remain close friends.  He was her prince.  Someone she could trust in a life with a deceiving father.  And she was his lifeline of sorts. A temporary reprieve from his emotionally abusive father.  Then they had a moment that led to the magic of their first ever kiss.  The next day Callen was gone and never came back.

It’s now 10 years later.   Jessica has finished her history degree and is living in Paris. While looking for work in her field she’s paying her way working at a bar. Callen has become a successful musician who is struggling with his demons.  As fortune would have it, they bump into each other in the bar where Jessica works. She knows exactly who he is...

Callen is inexplicably drawn to her and kisses her. But one minute he’s kissing her and the next he’s leaving with the girl he arrived with at the bar.   She’s so disappointed.  The prince she once knew wasn’t a prince at all.  He was a dog and a manwhore.  What stings the most is he didn’t even recognize her.  What was once a beautiful childhood memory is now replaced with a not so nice reality.

Growing up being mentally abused by his father has left Callen utterly damaged.  Full of self-doubt and hatred, he is about ready to self-destruct. To save his career and write the music score he’s promised a studio, he goes on a retreat with his best friend in France.

When Jessica is offered a job translating old french documents she jumps at the opportunity.  It’s a dream come true and off she goes to her new job site. She's intent on putting the past behind her and focus on her future.

But fate has again thrown Callen and Jessica together.  Thus, starts a journey of self discovery, growth, forgiveness and the complexities of love.

Jessica was a wonderful character. She was kind, understanding and just an all-around wonderful person.  I felt she had depth and a well-developed character.  Callen on the other hand I had a bit more difficulty with.  He was so dramatically dark and broody.  I know and appreciate where the author was going with it. I just didn’t always find it completely authentic. That being said, Jessica and Callen as a couple were a great fit and had incredible chemistry.

I loved the prologue! Boy meets girl, childhood friends, love's first kiss and then first love lost. How could you not be drawn in?! Unfortunately, as the story progressed I became a bit frustrated.

First let me emphasize.  Mia Sheridan is one of my favorite go to authors when I’m in need of a heart-felt romance with all kinds of feels.  She writes beautifully constructed narratives with refreshing takes on contemporary romance. So I suppose it’s with that in mind that I didn’t quite get what I expected.  It just didn’t have that little bit of extra something I've come to expect from her books.  I keep wracking my brain but I can’t quite put my finger on why!?  I hate it when that happens!

But don't let that deter you! This really is an amazing book. And though not my favorite of the books I’ve read by her, it’s a beautiful story I’d highly recommend.

More Than Words is the all new novel by Mia Sheridan. I didn’t know what to expect after reading the blurb-all I knew was that I was so excited to start. Ms. Sheridan wove a tale that was so beautiful and so emotional that I felt it down to my very bones. The way she makes you feel while reading her words is indescribable.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. Jessica and Callen meet as children. Whether it was fate or not, their lives become intertwined until one day they go their separate ways. Years later, a chance meeting changes the course of their lives forever.

I loved this story so much. I honestly didn’t want it to end. It flowed well and the characters captured my heart. Like the title, it was so much more than words. I highly recommend reading it!

More Than Words was a wonderfully swoony and emotional story of fated meetings and second chances. I was enamored with the book from the prologue.

"I’m here to save you."

As a little girl, Jessica Creswell finds Callen Hayes when he needs her the most. Inside an abandoned boxcar they forge a friendship and a bond of young innocence and painful childhoods. Both of them have their own family issues, but that’s what ultimately forms the bond between them. Only after a friendship of make believe games and fairy tales, Callen disappears from her life as suddenly as he entered it.
Years later, fate brings them together once more. But Callen is no longer that sweet boy that gave her her first kiss. He’s a famous composer, jaded by life, and a man that uses countless faceless women and alcohol to dull his hidden pain.

Callen was a character that my heart absolutely bled for. He’s so devastatingly broken and yearning for everything that Jessica means to him all these years later, but he knows that he doesn’t deserve her. Jessica was almost a little too pure for my particular taste, but she did balance Callen. Although admittedly, at times I found her a little too much of a naive dreamer for everything that she’s been through. She almost felt like a martyr for Callen at times for all the risks she takes for him and how quick to overlook some of his issues she is. But it also fit her character, so it didn’t bother me too much.

The story is very emotionally charged and character driven. Allen has a lot of issues that he has to face and work through, and I was glued to the pages to see how it all comes together. I really loved the way he was with Jessica. There’s just something so pure and innocent in their connection, even all those years later that I couldn’t get enough of.

There’s a bit of a historical mystery that unravels parallel to the story as Jessica works through the translations for the museum that she works for. While I can see how it connected to the story, I wasn’t as invested in that particular part and it was more of a distraction from the main story for me. The connection between Jessie and Callen stood on it’s own, and I personally didn’t feel that added storyline added anything to the dynamic. But that’s just my own personal bias.

All in all, this was a beautiful and emotional story that I connected with. Sure there were some parts that didn’t work for me, but the story was solid enough for me to overlook that and truly enjoy it.

Could possibly have potential, but NOPE. I can't.

Most of All You however is so beautiful, such a pure romance novel (alongside Archer's Voice) and it's made me not tolerate this dramatic story. Mia, you're still my girl, but this one just... *sigh*

Received in exchange for a honest review.

I thought I would be angry at Callen. I really did. He did some horrendous things. Not illegal horrendous just things that are not good but I couldn’t get angry at him anymore than he was with himself and he already hated himself as it was. You couldn’t get frustrated or growl because when you saw him all you saw was this hurting little boy who didn’t think he was good enough. A little boy who was so beatdown by words and people from his past that he felt he deserved no love, that he was stupid and he caused himself more pain than anyone deserved. He was broken more as an adult than when Jessie first met him when they were tweens. And all you want to do is show him that he is worthy of love, of kindness and that he is smart.

Jessie you find to be sweet as an tween. But as an adult you see a sweet, kind endearing young woman. She is living her dream of being in Paris and working. She still has some residual pain from is father’s actions when she was a child and it does affect how she interacts with Callen but it doesn’t completely damage her. It has made her a little more reserved and wary but not damaged.

The first time they see each other after ten years was crushing. Callen was a jackass to be nice. But once that first encounter was over, he couldn’t get her out of his head. The second time Jessie protected herself but Callen was like a puppy dog and we got to see him wiggle his way in. From there on they go on an exploration of friendship and love. Heartbreak and discovery. For Callen in the end he has to go on a hard and heartbreaking journey so that he can come out and find that he deserves happiness and is better than the voices say. He has to find his way back from the dark bleak place he has lived for so long and see that he is smart and more than the voices have him believe. He finds his way to allow love and peple into his world. To accepting his demons and fighting them but also overcoming them and change his situation. Only he could do this and those that loved him had to step away and let him figure this out and do this alone. It was hard and hurt them but they did it.

The story is heartbreaking, beautiful and emotional. Jessie and Callen go through so much and give us so many reasons to hesitate in believing they will give us a HEA or find their way but as Callen learns faith needs to be there and believed in or you lose out. And here you will lose out on reading a beautiful story that only Mia Sheridan can give us. I have to say this is right up there with archer’s voice in story, growth, writing and emotion for me. Callen’s pov is my favorite because it is more emotional and heartbreaking. He is uplifting at the end but it is a struggle for him and you relate to him more in his feelings and struggles for we all at some point in time have demons that haunt us and have us feel low self worth and we all struggle to fight them but when we do we shine like he did.

A amazing wonderful story that has characters you get invested in and root for, a story that is emotional and beautiful with a journey for one character that tugs at your heart and has you rooting for them to overcome it all and get the HEA.

A stunning, emotional romance that left me feeling emotionally invested in the lives of fictional people. I loved it!

I really enjoyed More Than Words, it was beautifully written. The relationship between Jessica and Callen was unexpected and sweet.

From the moment I started this book I couldn’t put it down. Jessica and Callum are from different sides of the tracks. They both had painful childhoods with their own family problems. They formed a friendship and played make believe and then all of a sudden one day he was gone.

Years later they see each other again. Callan has changed a lot and is no longer the sweet boy she once knew. He is now a famous composer. Jessica works at a museum doing translations.

This was a beautiful, emotional story I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend this book.
