Wow. I loved this! Started it in the evening and was fighting sleep to finish it- finally had to admit defeat at gone midnight with just 30mins to go. From the reviews this a a marmite read - I’m in the camp of those who love it. Raw hard emotions, Fear, loathing lust and quite erotic in places too
Great unusual plot with a cracking ending

Thrilling, erotic and incredibly exciting. Haven’t read anything like this in a while and I absolutely loved it! Travelling around London will never be the same....

Plot: Polly is a 28 year old woman living in London, working in a job she doesn’t enjoy, with a relationship that’s comfortable but doesn’t really seem to be going anywhere. One night, she’s coming home on a tube when a man makes eye contact, walks over, and kisses her passionately. This begins her foray into the world of “tubing”, where strangers meet on tube trains for illicit encounters. She keeps this world a secret, thinking she can keep her two lives separate, but suddenly her worlds begin to collide.

My thoughts: Now this is a tricky one – I’m not quite sure where to start! The main theme of this book, the “tubing” itself, was something totally unfamiliar and a bit odd to me. I can see the appeal for readers of novels similar to Fifty Shades of Grey as it’s exciting and fairly out there, but for me, a person who really dislikes busy crowded places, public transport and strangers, it was kiiiiind of weird.
If you put that aside, the storyline itself was pretty good. There was a good bit of mystery and a thriller aspect that I wasn’t quite expecting based on the start of the book, so that made the plot a bit more of something for me.
On the other hand, I found the characterisations in this a little confusing. Polly seemed like a fairly 2D character who had had a few characteristics and a bit of troubled background thrown at her at random to flesh her out. I don’t think it’s really a spoiler (and maybe should be a slight trigger warning) that there are quite a lot of allusions to eating disorders in the book. I personally try to avoid books with this as a main topic, and I can see how it adds to the vulnerability and backstory for the character, but it also threw the story off a bit for me.
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible read. I carried on until the end and quite liked the turns it threw at me, but it was quite flawed as compared to the books I normally enjoy.

Polly's life is turned upside down after a late night encounter with a stranger on a busy tube train. Inexplicably finding herself drawn into the secretive world of 'tubing', Polly is desperate to find out more about her mystery man. Little does she know, that the deeper she delves into the underground phenomenon, the more she is putting herself in danger and jeopardising her everyday life.

A fast-paced, thrilling and sometimes sinister tale of intrigue and erotica with a few unexpected twists and turns! A exhilarating début from Kerry McKeagney.

With thanks to the author and RedDoor Publishing for the ARC.

Okay, so this erotic thriller book just fell a little flat for me. Granted, the premise of the book was interesting. Especially since I live in London and go on the tube 4=5 times a day. You see all kinds of things on the Central line. It's really interesting, but at the same time I felt like the book lacked a bit of depth. I was not particularly engaged with any of the characters and I think that's mostly why I did not enjoy this book as much as I could have.

So after reading this book I bet I was not the only one who wondered if tubing was an actual thing !! I read this book in a few hours and felt the book was quite short but enjoyable ... The ending was interesting which made me give the book an extra star .... it was nice to have a little twist to the plot ... This is not a book I normally pick up to read but wanted to see what it was all about and it did not disappoint it was enjoyable and fun to read and next time i am on a tube train who knows i might be looking around more then looking at my book ha ha just see if its all true !!

Three and a half star rating.
What a novel novel (excuse the pun) this turned out to be! Polly lives with her boyfriend who is nice, but dull, has a mundane job, so is ripe for a bit of excitement in her life, so when some stranger accosts her on the underground, she is happy to go along with it. From then on she is feverish to repeat the experience with others, but especially with “him”. This is a racy story with plenty going on but the erotic scenes did get a bit repetitive after a while. As for Polly, she was so annoying and unlikeable with no thought for her job or boyfriend and just did what she wanted, or whined or cried. It was very readable, easy to get into especially when she realises all is not as it should be. This would be an excellent holiday read with plenty to get your teeth into!

I thought it was hilarious and ironic reading TUBING on the subway. It actually got me thinking: what if tubing was a thing over here too? What if it's a real thing? Would the commuters notice that sexual meetings would take place right there in the wagon, maybe even right next to them? It's a chilling thought.

The story is something I've never read before. I was a little disappointed with the main character, Polly, though. It seems like every character in a thriller is somehow damaged goods and Polly was no different. I was mostly annoyed with her behavior and manners. But then, what sane person would be into sexual encounters on the tube in London? So I guess Polly loving tubing was kind of fitting, in a weird and twisted way.

The beginning of this novel was great and interesting. Everything was new and exciting and I was eager to find out more about this tubing thing. I was actually a little appalled and disgusted with all of this but it's a thriller, right?
The middle part was rather boring: It was the same old Polly-drama, and tubing encounter after tubing encounter. Then came a shocking twist I didn't see coming but should have and shortly after came another one and I was hooked once again. I was really excited to see how K. A. McKeagney would bring this book to an end because after those shocking twists I wanted to end it in a big boom.
I don't know if the ending was supposed to be the big boom, perhaps it was for a lot of readers, but it wasn't for me. It was actually diflating and I hoped for something different.

TUBING is not your everyday thriller: It's different, shocking, unique but most of all provocative and I am impressed that K. A. McKeagney wrote such a story. Although I was not totally satisfied with it, it definitely deserves a solid 3-star-rating.

Tubing is not a book that I would typically choose to read. However, thanks to social media(#Tubing), I read quite a bit of positive 'buzz' and decided to step out of my preferred genre box and expand my reading horizons. “Tubing” is described as an intoxicating and potentially dangerous practice where strangers agree to meet on commuter trains(tubes) and engage in intense sexual liaisons.
The main character Polly isn't particularly happy with her life and a chance “tubing” encounter leads to much more than she could have possibly imagined. Like so many vices such as drug use, drinking, or risky sex, bad choices can become quite addictive and Polly's story is no exception.
There wasn't much that I liked about Polly, but the choices she made are so unbelievably bad, that for me, reading this book was like watching a train wreck. You don't want to watch the horror unfolding in front of you, but somehow you are mesmerized and just can't seem to look away. I just couldn't stop myself from flipping pages wondering what would happen next and hoping that Polly could save herself.....from herself. I guess that means I engaged in an addictive behavior myself since I was held captive by Tubing throughout all the many twists and turns until the final page. If risky sexual behavior doesn't bother you, this is an intense, fast-paced read and I believe this authors debut novel and I look forward to what comes next.
Thank you K.A. McKeagney, RedDoor Publishing and NetGalley for the complimentary copy. Discovering new authors is always a real treat for this book lover. 3.5 stars.

A pretty successful debut ... original, darkly erotic and thrilling and one which will make you look a bit harder the next time you are on a train .... or not!

This book is not one I would normally go for as I tend to keep away from overly sexual books but there was something about the synopsis that attracted me to read this ... maybe it's my dark side coming out!

The main character, Polly, is a complex and deeply flawed individual formed by a troubled upbringing and addictive personality. Not happy with her seemingly perfect life, Polly goes awry following an erotic encounter on the tube and she becomes addicted to finding that stranger again and in the process, becomes embroiled in the what can only be described as "seedy" practice of #tubing.

Written at a fast pace in an easy-to-read style with great characters, this book will immerse you in a hidden world that might just exist in the cramped and overcrowded tube system.

Thank you to the publisher, RedDoor Publishing, and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I look forward to Ms McKeagney's next outing.

Oh my, this is such a good read. I almost put it down a couple of times, but suddenly I was in the story. I couldn’t quite believe my eyes, does this really happen on public transport? Am I so naive.
The plot is of hook ups on the underground arrangements and timings given on instagram and the way it takes over the main characters life is quite scary. It becomes an addiction with horrifying consequence.
A must read to the end.

Tubing is an erotic thriller that left me disappointed, considering how much I was intrigued with its synopsis.

Good things first. Narration was good. Narration was the only thing that helped me push till the end.

Now to what left me disappointed. Almost everything. The protagonist looked quite immature and she is the sole person responsible for letting her normal life spin out of control. I wasnt impressed with any character in this plot except Polly's father and her boyfriend, Oliver. The only genuine normal characters in the whole storyline. Charlotte and Polly are a big mess and I didnot expect a silly background for whatever happens to Polly.(Can't say more. I am not spoiling things for you)
Polly's history with her mother gives us some insight into her psychological background but I couldnt relate it to whatever Polly was letting happen to herself.
I felt the plot was too shallow and I could not experience anything thrilling. Polly just turned out to be an unfaithful, obsessive, selfish person who plays the victim card with no guilt.

If you are looking for some gripping psychological thriller in, I wouldnt recommend it.

Not my cup of tea. Thought it was a bit far fetched among other issues. But thank you publisher and netgalley for the arc in exchange of an honest review, I do appreciate it.

Well this was an interesting topic for sure! It was a quick and easy read and it did keep you guessing at what was going to happen next.. I felt it was very hard to relate to Polly or feel for her at all. Which yes I later learned the childhood she had was pretty awful and that helps explain why Polly is such a troubled soul. Her relationship with Oliver was pretty boring and lacking depth. I actually would have liked to see even more of her childhood explored- more about her relationship with her mother and what happens after her mother talks to Oliver? It's barely mentioned again. Also a little more background about her relationship with Oliver. Nevertheless, it was a new topic to read about and I am thankful for the opportunity.
Thank you to Netgalley and RedDoor Publishing for the ARC copy.

WHAT DID I JUST READ?? A Train ride of emotions!

I'll be honest, I requested it before I even read the full synopsis mainly because of the cover and it's based in London! Little did I know this is an erotic psychological thriller (Yes, that's a thing).

I don't read erotica but wow, I loved this book. The main focus was NOT erotica but rather an underground club of sorts that had me so freaked throughout the book. It was also about how fast this world is moving that something as crazy as that could actually exist :O does it?? I did not expect this book to be what it was so yay for element of surprise. I assumed it would be similar to The Girl On the Train but it was definitely not! I also LOVE the title. I made sure to take a pic with it by the London underground. Mind you, this was BEFORE reading the book or I would have been majorly freaked & just looking around in paranoia haha

The MC Polly really annoyed me though. She acted so immature and just made everything worse for herself. I didn't like her boyfriend in the book either. They were just not right for each other and it was irritating.

Other than that, I would def recommend this book to Thriller fans everywhere!

I can't remember the last time I finished a book in two days, but I was riveted. I also didn't think I would give this five stars, but here. We. Are.
This was a can't-put-down, disturbing and tight-paced thriller. The last one I read that I was so invested in was Girl on the Train, so maybe murder combined with forms of transportation are just my thing lol!
Reader beware, the first half of this novel is R-rated, being quite raunchy and graphic. I took no issue with it and read that first half in a few hours. The second half is where the meat and potatoes of disturbing comes in. You've got murder, revenge, paranoia and all other sorts of good stuff you pray never happens to you but you delight in reading about. It's filled with twists and turns that kept me reading on longer than I should have.
I found Polly to be a good main character for this novel. The girl has major baggage that left me really wanting to know more, such as the fact she's a 28-year-old with an eating disorder. Her mental stability and emotional state as the story progresses is very believable and had me feeling for her. As far as secondary characters, Oliver shines, as does *him*.
The only thing that I realized was kind of left by the wayside was Polly's relationship with her mother. We get great insight into their mother-daughter relationship halfway in, and then the whole thing was dropped and forgotten about.
Now I'm just wondering if Tubing is really a thing, but left way too scared to actually google.

Probably a good choice for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey but unfortunately this wasn't for me. I'm not a fan of the introspective self-pitying protagonist who makes bad decisions to further the plot.

I am not usually a fan of erotica and was quite sceptical about this book. However, unexpectedly, I was hooked. Fast paced, entertaining and original - I liked it. I am intrigued to see what this author will come up with next.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Tubing

This was a well written suspense novel, that I did not enjoy at all, mainly due to the protagonist being possibly the most revolting despicable character ever. I don’t need my heroines to be perfect, but you do need some reason to care about what happens to her, rather feeling that she deserves everything that does.

Polly works a boring job, lives in London with her kindly boring boyfriend, has no friends other than her eating disorder and her nauseating self-pity. Going home drunk one night after drinks with a colleague, she is approached by a good looking man who snogs and then fiddles her, then walks away. This is the most exciting thing that has happened in her empty life, and she is desperate to do it again. Discovering that there is an underground movement called tubing (see what I did there), where strangers use twitter to arrange random hook-ups on the tube, she manages to find him again, and before long is having sexual encounters in public with a disgusting array of men. If this is slut-shaming and being a prude, so be it. I found this really uncomfortable to read about, and wonder if I’ll ever want to travel by tube again when I am back in London. I’m not a fan of erotica at the best of times, but this was horrible. Then she witnesses something shocking, and behaves idiotically (given she is barely eating by this stage, this is plausible but frustrating to read about.)

This had the potential to be really good. A sympathetic heroine who isn’t a hypocritical slag, fewer awkward descriptions of buttocks being grabbed, and a decent twist (I was hoping it would all turn out to be the imaginings of a starved brain) and this could’ve been a great read. The ending was hugely disappointing - only her most pressing problem is resolved - I wanted to see poor Oliver dump her for somebody nice, Alicia come to realise that just because it feels good is not a reason to do something, and a showdown will the awful mother, at the very least.

If this had not been an ARC I would’ve stopped at about 10%, but it is not long, and I felt a duty to finish and review it - for better or worse. Thanks to NetGalley and Red Door for the opportunity to read it; I would consider reading more from this author as she is a good storyteller, and this is a first novel, I would just be careful about the subject matter. Now, what can I read to rinse my brain?
