The first half of the book was an interesting peek into the world of "tubing"--a mysterious network of strangers hooking up on the train in London. This part of the book worked for me. I found this first half interesting and sexy (Save for the first sexual encounter--she pukes and then tongue-kisses a dude? No thanks.)

The development of this character from a lost, stuck, woman with an eating disorder driven by childhood trauma, into a sexual provocateur who in effect finds her power in a (relationship?) with a nameless stranger, was intriguing to follow. The contrast between her quiet stable life with her boyfriend and her nighttime playacting made for some juicy drama.

Then, about halfway through, the book became more of a sexual thriller. I remained along for the ride although I found this stretch to be at times lacking in plausibility. The build up in drama was still interesting and the climactic scene, dramatic.

But that ending though...most of my docked stars are because of the ending. Not the ending scene, per se, but rather the ridiculously tidy conclusion to the story. Not to get spoilery, but if she's discussed this mystery man with the police (twice) and with her work friend once (with all the salacious details), if she's threatened someone in order to get his contact info (someone who hates her), and sent him a rather damning tweet, SHE'S PART OF HIS STORY. She most certainly will be tied to whatever happens to him next.

Overall, this was a quick and compelling read that ultimately disappointed me in the end (it's almost as if the author didn't quite know how to wrap up the story, so it...just...kind of....stopped.) This choppiness made the book less enjoyable overall.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for granting me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. Just wow. I don't even know where to start or how to even put together my thoughts about this book. I read it in one sitting. It was a thrilling, fast-paced, can't-put-it-down page turner. Loved it!

What a debut! I loved this book and it kept me gripped right up until the last page. It’s such an original storyline and the perfect psychological thriller. I’ll definitely be reading more books from this author.

The story is quite intense in the start, Polly seems to be the kind of tough and strong woman. Dispite her being so drunk on her third anniversary with her boyfriend Oliver, however I felt horrible for a woman who is alone with friend in a bar, drinking until drunk. And then, now Polly meet some stranger in the tub, I do understand that one and only eye-contact can attrack all kinds of emotion from a woman. And the fact that Polly is drunk, she will definitely need this kind of attraction from a man.
Its really interesting to read, highly recommend if looking for erotic thriller. I will give a 4 star for this book. I voluntarily rea and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is K.A. McKeagney's first novel and she can be rightly congratulated for producing not only an erotic but also a dark disturbing psychological thriller which certainly had me gripped trying to work exactly what was going on. The story concerns 28 year old Polly who ostensibly has a pretty reasonable life with her older and caring (if somewhat boring) surgeon boyfriend. But there are things lacking in Polly's life and when she meets a stranger apparently by chance on a late night London underground train it is the start of a journey that will change her life. After this encounter she researches and becomes obsessed by the phenomenon of "Tubing" where strangers arrange to meet via Twitter on the underground for illicit sexual encounters. As Polly is drawn increasingly into this world her life begins to unravel and about half way through the book we are made aware of the the horrifyingly reality behind this. But who can be trusted? and can there be something more behind the many coincidences that seem to take place.

This was a well written tale and we got to see how the cruelty and emotional abuse that Polly suffered from her mother when growing up impacted on her later life. There is a growing sense of paranoia as the book develops and there is a nice mix of suspense and erotica and the ending has a satisfactory conclusion with the loose ends tied up. This can be seen somewhat as a morality tale with a warning that sometimes it is best to keep to the mundane for danger may lurk outside. I certainly would recommend this and will look out for her next work. A special mention also to the rather apt cover.

WOW! This book was excellent. I had never heard of "tubing" and am still not sure if it's actually something that happens, but the concept caught my attention from the beginning. Then the rest of the book held my interest just as much. I was absorbed into the story so much. I really enjoyed this one.

This book is all over the place.

A horrid, boring girl called Polly decides that she's not quite satisfied with everything that she has and somehow ends up having a random sexual encounter on a tube train with a stranger.
Polly has a past which is quite troubled (don't they always) and no real friends or certainly no decent support to give her a kick up the arse when she's being an idiot and taking things too far. Oh and she also has an eating disorder which stems from her mum who was jealous of the relationship that Polly had with her father.

I don't think I could describe this book as being enjoyable. I wouldn't choose to read it again and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. To be honest, I'm quite glad that it's over.

I really enjoyed this book.
It was gripping how her life changed over this sexual obsession. She knew her life was on a downward path and she was exploiting herself and yet this desire consumed her to continue.
I WILL NOT LOOK AT PEOPLE ON THE tUBE WITHOUT WONDERING!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Its a bit of a nail biting thriller, I couldn't put it down. It was quite disturbing to think something like this could actually be happening. I really liked the characters and felt sorry for oliver but I loved Alisha . I'd definitely recommend it and would read it again

While not quite what I was expecting, Tubing was a fast-paced suspense-packed read-and it is not for the faint of heart. There are some rather graphically described scenes, but they do lend to the plot and fill in descriptively written scenes.

This is an incredibly unique book that starts out like 50 shades of commuting but quickly takes a very sinister turn. The characters are complex, the plot is compelling, the writing is cinematic. I think the book ended a scene or two too soon but overall it is such a winning read that I have given it the full 5 stars.

Yet another plot based on simple yet strange coincidences. I wonder just how many Londoners read this book thinking...really? just why does it never happen to me while I've lived here for over ten...fifteen years? And yet there's this Polly who suddenly walks right into a thing called Tubing and OK, that's plausible...but then less than a week later her co-worker "accidentally overhears" her conversation with another co-worker, and OH YES, he knows...he's also done it. It somehow starts sounding like some sort of sci-fi world, while the writer is still insisting it's the reality around us.

I think had this been maybe a bit more mystery and a lot less chic-flick like I would've enjoyed the theatrical idea or a sexual thrill (yet, where's the thrill if no one comes in the end?!). Even that made me doubt the essence of this. If prostitution is the world's oldest profession, it says something about the human nature. And if men are its primary clientele, and most acts last less than a few minutes because they're mainly there to come...then what would be the point in this???
Is it like people are suddenly interested in what it's like to cheat, while "technically" not cheating...well, maybe still cheating because there's sound contact there.

PLUS, in public? On public transport? I knew the plot when I went in, I just thought there'd be some sort of actual explanation. No one would ever feel up someone else enjoying it, it lasting for minutes, and nobody else notices...London Tube is the very place people stare and check each other out.

I'm not sure I would go out telling people this is a good story. The idea, yes, but it's not delivered well.

Also, I think books with heroines like Polly undermine feminine awareness. I literally hate reading meek women who don't even care to find their worth in life. Because reading is supposed to enlighten the reader and well, if I had a daughter and she only reads these kinds of heroines then how smart can I hope her to get. This is yet another Bella Swan type that men are supposed to be after while she's totally clueless of herself.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Red Door Publishing for my ARC of the talented novel, “Tubing” by K.A. McKeagney. I enjoyed this book. The twists and turns of the mystery were satisfying and while I may not have been as brave as the main character, I thought the whole premise of “Tubing” to relieve ennui, to be quite believable. Trysts on trains have been happening for decades. So why not on the packed underground in London?
Polly, bored with her boyfriend and life, decides to shake things up after seeing a tryst on the tube. Research gets her nowhere as it’s a pretty “secretive” club. But after an encounter with “Him” Polly is hooked. As her mate says, “if it feels good. It is good.” But as curiosity turns to obsession Polly may be in over her head. When things start to unravel they unravel fast. Who can she trust? Can she share her secret without exposing herself? This is admittedly a mistake of Polly’s making, but that’s what makes it a good book. Not all of what she endures is going to happen in real life. Credibility and incredulity mix together nicely to make this a satisfying read.

I almost gave up with this one. Up until almost halfway through I was thinking I’d picked an erotica book as opposed to psychological thriller. However it did improve and was quite an exciting read. There are a number of things that I feel we’re not really explained but I tried not to let this detract from my enjoyment.

This is the author's debut novel which takes the reader into the world of the psychological thriller centred around erotic encounters in the London Underground. The basis of the storyline is sufficient to capture the attention of the reader, but there are times in the first half of the book when credibility is stretched to its limits. The second half of the story focuses more on the psychological challenges faced by Polly who has been drawn into this murky world. For me, this part of the book maintained my interest to the end, although I had ambivalent feelings regarding the outcome. This may have been different if the author had spent more time building a "rapport" between the reader and Polly's world.
