4 stars for this tantalizing, indulgent mystery that was so much more addictive than watching a reality show or soap opera!

The Perfect Couple is set in Nantucket, amidst the no expense spared paradise of sand, sun, beautiful wealthy people, privilege, secrets, lies and of course murder. To say I could not resist this book would be an understatement. I literally had to force myself to put it down and I eagerly picked it up any chance I got.

Benji and Celeste are set to be married until the bride finds her best friend and maid-of-honor, Merritt's body floating in the water. What follows is the unraveling of so much juicy deceit and so many secrets that you will not be able to turn the pages fast enough. With so many characters and so many secrets you can't help but suspect everyone! Hilderbrand did an amazing job unfolding this whodunnit. I will admit that I had suspicions about what happened but I did not have all the logistics worked out. I was very satisfied with the ending and pleased that I did not have it all figured out.

I had not read a book by this author before, that I can remember. I do not have the best memory, so do not hold me to that. This book was one I truly loved. With there being a cast of individuals from other books, I want to read those books now as well! I loved this book so much, and think it would be a perfect beach read. It was a great who-dun-it and makes me want to read more by this author.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Elin Hildebrand's The Perfect Couple kept me going wanting to get to the bottom of the story and know exactly what to the maid of honor who is found dead the morning of the wedding. So many unexpected twists and secrets with the characters involving this family!

I feel like it isn't officially Summer unless I've read one of Hilderbrand's novels. I'm going out to venture and say this book might be one of my favorites by her! It was slightly different than some of her previous novels, and has more of a who done it twist to it. The novel opens with the Made of Honor found floating in the ocean. One of Nantucket's most prominent weddings is now completely in chaos, and at each page there is a new twist and turn. I loved it and would definitely add this to your summer reading list!

I really liked this book. It grabbed me from the very beginning, and it was interesting to watch the story unfold. There were so many secrets, and I thought the reveal was done well. Nantucket is always a perfect setting, too!

This is the first Elin Hilderbrand book I've read and I was pleasantly surprised. Much like the cover, this would be the perfect beach read. The story is told from different people's perspectives which I always enjoy and it kept me guessing until the very end. I would recommend this book to others and after this, I'm totally open to reading another Elin Hilderbrand book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoy this author so much, in fact I think I have read every one of her books. Every time I finish one, I think she will never top that one, but of course she does. Waiting for the next one!

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was a quick read. Would be great for a lazy day on the beach. Great cast of characters who you really formed a quick impression of and lots of twists and turns in their stories.

This is the book that made me a fan of Elin Hilderbrand. jaw-dropping at the end and totally unexpected. I loved w=how different characters' stories weaved in and out of the tale. It really felt like a wonderful hybrid of romance and mystery, which is pretty strange. Bravo.

This story kept me guessing. There were characters that I liked, and others that I just couldn't stand. While I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding the death, I found the many subplots distracting and ultimately the ending was very anticlimactic. An enjoyable read, but not one of my favorite Elin Hilderbrand books.

I knew Hilderbrand as a romance novelist with family sagas filled with secrets set on Nantucket. This one is a bit of departure, I think. On the day of a wedding between an middle class zookeeper and a wealthy (VERY wealthy) heir, the maid of honor turns up dead -- either suicide or murder -- and everyone is a suspect. This story kept me guessing until the very end. While the flashback/present time structure was confusing at first, once I realized that the chapter titles (dates & times) were VERY important, it was easy to keep track. In fact, the structure set up the suspense in such a way that I could not put this book down. For fans of suspense and family drama.

Hilderbrand writes about people and relationships in such a descriptive and relatable way and in this book also throws in a mystery element that will keep readers hooked until the end.

I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this at the moment. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!

Murder, drama, and intrigue in the waterside town of Nantucket. Old Elin you come to expect tinged with darkness. Great book if mystery is your cup of tea.

"There is no such thing as a perfect couple."
This was my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I'm sure it won't be my last. However, it wasn't my favorite read. I guess I can see the beachy appeal. And there were moments that were intriguing, but for the most part, it just fell flat for me. I kept holding on expecting this infamous Elin Hinderbrand to give me a delicious dessert after the full course meal of this book....but it was like await creme brulee and being given jello.
Anticlimactic.
Honestly, I wanted the book to keep going because I cared less about the victim or (without giving any spoilers....) the perpetrator and more about those left behind. I wanted to know what happened to Karen. To Celeste. To Shooter. Oh goodness, Shooter. I wanted to love him so much more. He's just the kind of character I fall for. But it just wasn't quite enough.
I'm sure I'll pick up another Hilderbrand book one day, but I may not be running to bookstores for a copy.

First, I liked the mystery aspect of this book. She doesn't often have a mystery tied to her books but that was what kept my interest. I was actually surprised by the turn of events in the end.

With that being said, I have read nearly all of Elin Hildebrand's books but I'm about to stop. I absolutely cannot take the pretentiousness of them. Describing the fancy food and mentioning the label on everyone's clothes is driving me crazy. It might be because I cannot afford any of those things so I don't know what they are (I know OF some of them) but it gets annoying a repetitive.

We get it, people who visit Nantucket have money. But can we just focus on the story and not the material nature of the people. It isn't enjoyable when all we hear about is the fancy food, fancy clothes and fancy cars. The earlier books had stories, emotions, and connections. Now I just feel like I'm watching a reality tv show.

I will pretty much ready anything set in Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, or on Cape Cod so I am a big Elin Hilderbrand fan. This book was a little different because it had the added air of suspense and mystery. I thought it was great to marry those genres to women's fiction. The book was a page turner. I definitely was interested in what happened on the Island and there were plenty of suspects that could have done it, so that kept things interesting! Mostly though, I was interested in the bride's mom's story. I know that it wasn't the main theme of the book, but I felt very drawn to her and hope to see more of her in a future book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary women's fiction.

Well this is new: a murder mystery from Nantucket novelist Hilderbrand that brings back beloved past characters. Celeste and Benji’s wedding is supposed to the big event of the season … until Celeste finds her maid of honor’s body floating in the bay on her wedding day. She was up before dawn because she was sneaking away from the scene of the festivities with a packed bag. Everyone thought Celeste and Benji were the perfect couple, so what is going on? As the Nantucket police open their investigation, the timeline moves back and forth between the wedding weekend and the start of the couple’s relationship, allowing the reader to slowly put the pieces together.
This easy-reading mystery features well-developed characters, a solid plot, plus the food and style readers expect from Hilderbrand.

Elin Hilderbrand strikes again! This book was unlike most of her other books, it had just a little bit of a dark edge to it. Whenever I read her books, I am always engrossed by the romance in the novel, but this book was quite different. Of course, it was set on Nantucket and had all of the makings of her usual books in setting alone, but the story is what was quite different. This book was intriguing and had all of the trappings of a great family drama intertwined into the plot line. A great book to take with you on a vacation, because you will truly be longing for answers as to what happened. It will hold your attention, and keep you turning the pages.
