I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book had an important message about learning to deal with frustrations and trying to work together, I thought the illustrations were great. The text didn't flow as well as it could have, but it was still a fun read.

This was a wonderful book. The illustrations were beautiful and the story was very well written. My son read this book along with me and really liked that the story had a happy ending. We both enjoyed this book and I would read it to my son again as nice bedtime story.

“Bye Bye Pesky Fly” by Lysa Mullady is a darling picture book with the sweetest illustrations that teaches children how to handle annoyances in relationships with grace. In this case, Pig is bothered by Fly and Fly needs to learn how to respect Pig’s space. They work through to a feel-good resolution, with each gaining in friendship. I love this series by the American Psychological Association, which includes an instructive endnote for parents and caregivers on the topic at hand. 5/5

Thanks to Magination Press and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are fully mine.

Bye Bye Pesky Fly y Lysa Mullady is a delightful children's book that teaches them how to deal with frustrating situations.

It is done in a very smart way through several examples and shows the whole procedure.
It tells how Pig in the beginning didn't know how to deal with the frustrating Fly and through trial and error found the right way.
I think this is a great way to educate children about emotions and how to deal with negative situations and feelings.
Also it is beautifully illustrated I just wish that there were more pictures. Pig is absolutely adorable.

Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a cute book to teach children how to deal with situations that frustrate or annoy them. In the story Pig is going about his usual day minding his business when along comes Fly disrupting his peace and comfort. Pig wants to react in a negative way, but when he stops and thinks about it, he realizes that will not work. He considers his possible actions and weighs out the potential consequences of each one before making his decision. Of course there are various options to consider such as aggressive, passive and assertive responses and then shown why assertive behavior is best. Fly then has to decide how he will respond. I like that they show both sides of the situation, and that the action and reaction both have consequences. It is not a hit over the head lesson, in fact, some children may not get it if a discussion does not follow. I really liked the artwork in this children's book. They were soft, colorful, and had me smiling while reading this story with my grandchildren. My granddaughter loved the pig, even though she is a bit young to understand the message, she enjoyed the story. The publisher, Magination Press, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions are my own.

A sweet little story about Pig who is just trying to enjoy his day when I pesky fly arrives. Instead of getting mad Pig thinks about other ways that he could handle the situation.
A great story for preschool and lower elementary to remember to use their words and talk it out instead of getting angry frustrated and mad.
Parent/Caregiver notes are included in the back with things to talk about with your child or class.

Thanks to Net Galley and American Psychological Association for the advance copy!

The lessons in this book are well laid out and well planed. The piggy is enjoying his bright sunshiny day when a fly starts buzzing close and being annoying. He thinks about swatting but, but no he's a pacifist, he thinks about this and thinks about that. He looks at the down side of any action he wants to take before he takes it. I am really impressed how it was done because it does not fell preachy, it feels real. I am a little tired of the the pages in the back telling parents how this book can help. Not all book need that.

This was a fantastic and clever little book about dealing with frustration for children. I liked the story, no ugly confrontations, no yelling... just so pleasant. Loved the illustrations, too. Very nicely done!

Bye Bye Pesky Fly teaches children how to deal with situations that frustrate or annoy them. In the story Pig is going about his usual day minding his business just as happy as can be. Along comes Fly disrupting his peace and comfort. What is Pig to do? He considers his options and weighs out the potential consequences of each action. Children are provided with aggressive, passive and assertive responses and shown why assertive behavior is best. Fly in turn must decide how he will respond. In showing both sides within the story, children are compelled to look at more than one perspective.
I read this book with daughter and asked her questions throughout. I have to say this book was right on time for my family as my two middle children have been going back and forth with the infamous howls of <i>"She's bothering me!" "Mom, can you tell him to stop picking on me? . . . annoying me? . . .etc?"</i> You get it the list goes on and on. I had some small glimmer of hope when my daughter was able to identify her own situation within the plot of the book. This is one I will DEFINITELY be reading again. Gotta go now -- Need to get a hard copy of this book stat!

“Bye Bye Pesky Fly” wasn’t my favorite book, but I think I was the wrong audience for it. The illustrations were nice, and I’m sure that the right audience will enjoy it.

Thank you AMA Magination Press and NetGalley For an ARC of this gorgoeus book in return for my honest review.

This is a beautifully illustrated book with a lovely message for children about dealing with annoyances in life. I look forward to reading this with my 6;year old tomorrow and the discussion that will follow. A pesky fly follows a pig out for a walk. There are many ways pig could respond to the fly and thankfully he chooses the kind way over other alternatives.

Magination Press and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Bye Bye Pesky Fly. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a whimsical tale about Pig, who was having a good day until his musings were interrupted by a pesky fly. As Pig's mood worsened, he realizes that he has to figure out how to solve his problem in a more socially acceptable way. When Pesky Fly ends up with a similar issue to Pig, will he also be able to figure out a positive solution to his problem?

Bye Bye Pesky Fly teaches children how to problem solve without resorting to violence, a great life lesson written in a way that they will understand. Life is full of frustrations and this book can help give children the tools they need to make their lives better. The higher level cognitive thinking may be beyond younger age groups, but older children will be able to learn better ways of coping with their problems.

Coupled with adorable illustrations, which seem to leap off the pages, Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a book well suited for home, classroom, or public libraries. With helpful hints and tips for dealing with children and their issues, parents and educators will also learn valuable information.

First off, I simply adored the artwork in this children's book. They were soft, colorful, and had me smiling before I even began the story. I can see the children getting excited and pointing out "That pesky fly" in every photo. Although I found the story to hold an important message, I found the sentence structure a little hard to read aloud with out tumbling over my words. All in all, I think the children will love it!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I truly appreciate it!

This great title is a must have. Pig is enjoying a gorgeous day outside when Pesky Fly becomes bothersome and annoying turning Pig's mood sour. How do you deal with your emotions? Do you get angry and yell, do you talk to the person, or do you strike out? This title examines the myriad of feelings from Pig's perspective. Then it flips and examines all the possible reactions from Pesky Fly's side. In the end, it demonstrates that communication and respect lead to mutual happiness and friendship.

I really loved this one. As the parents of two easily frustrated boys, this title is a great addition to our home collection and should really be added to the library collection, as well. It's very helpful in talking about emotional response and strategies and coping skills. It's something we talk about a lot, but it offers another approach and reinforcement. The illustrations are top notch featuring bright colors and the wonderfully expressive Pig.

I really enjoyed reading ‘Bye Bye Pesky Fly’. The book started off a bit predictable, but soon took an unexpected turn. Not only do we see Pig worrying about how to handle this situation, but as the story moves along it turns out the Fly has a similar problem. The Fly also had more depth and personality than I expected him to have. It was a joy to see how things worked out and has a good lesson for kids at its core.

Bye Bye Pesky Fly is a picture book about emotions. Pig is bothered by Fly and must decide what to do about it. And then Fly must decide how he is going to react back to Pig. Each page has strategies and examples for dealing with negative feelings. The illustrations are cute. The text is a little wordy, but useful. The end of the book has a couple pages of useful notes for parents & caregivers.

Cute illustrations that make the reader linger which certainly would enchant a child's interest. The story about a pig being bothered by a 'pesky' fly is a simple one but has a good message - it shows how easily pig can get frustrated and how he copes and gets out of this frustration. Book is a good tool for children as it would be useful to recognize how they can get annoyed and how they can overcome it by being calm, dealing with whatever causes their frustration and continuing on, like pig! Well done addition to this necessary genre for young children.

Book will be available May 14, 2018

Pig is enjoying a beautiful day of sunshine and rainbows until a pesky fly shows up. The fly buzzes around his nose and ears until his beautiful day turns to rain and thunder. Pig is now feeling sad and mad. He considers several ways to handle his anger, but as he takes a walk and tries to whistle a happy tune, the fly buzzes around and lands right on his nose. Will that be more than he can take?

The next part of the book shows the feelings and thoughts of the fly.  And the last of the book has notes for the adult reader regarding frustrations, coping skills, etc.

Cons: It was a little bothersome to read the words Pesky Fly so many times during the story. And if that's not fly’s name (which I guess it is because it’s always capitalized), it would have been less noticeable and disruptive to see just the word fly occasionally.

Pros:  This is a very good book to begin teaching children to verbalize their feelings. Although fly’s reaction to Pig’s statement is quite positive, the book will also open the opportunity to talk to children about the fact that verbalizing how you feel doesn’t always turn out the way you’d like it to. So other skills need to be put into practice at that time.

The illustrations are very kid-friendly and should make little ones smile.
