This is a review that has been hard to write; I finished the book a while back and I’ve been thinking of it since. This is a really good story and while there is violence it is suitable to the mature Y/A market. The author has done an excellent job with the characters and world building. The problem I had with it was not having enough information and not understanding religion and the gods. It would have been helpful to have a prologue/forward that explained how these two sects came to be, their believes and the gods. I think there will be an additional book and I hope that the author provides more information for those of us not familiar with the different religions and gods of India past and present.

The author did an excellent job with the characters, you get a feel of what each is like and their story lines are equally developed, I love the mythological aspect of the story and enjoyed what I understood of the religion (my knowledge is very basic, but I’d like to explore it further). Despite the ending being left open for more books it wasn’t a cliffhanger, which I want to sincerely thank the author for not ending with a cliffhanger. I look forward to reading the next book in the series as I feel that this author has a very promising future.

4.25/5 Stars: **I received a free digital ARC in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I sincerely thank the author and/or publisher for providing an ARC through NetGalley,.**

A good fantasy full of potential. The writer should do some more world building and add some more background to the characters.
An enjoyable read.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC

It is listed as a YA but they are almost a sideshow to the intrigue. I am fascinated with the idea of a whole new pantheon that has not been overdone in the urban fantasy world, but even that is just a shy mention everything revolves around the two hate groups and even they are not well differentiated, one is out to save the world one is out to dominate but no clear motivation, There is not a lot of action within the book. Most of it feels like the backstory that could have been laced through the story in pieces and some does not feel necessary at all. And who is the story about? no one set who. just a group of people with their own agenda. and the kids, there is not enough of them for a foundation of loyalty that will prevail throughout the series. I will read the next one in the series because of the promise of a good story. but this one needs more kinetic energy and a focus.
