I mean, how could I not read a book about cheese? This was a fun, quick read, that really made me feel transported to the streets of Paris. I did feel that the buildup was great, but the ending was a little too rushed for me. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

I received a reviewer copy of Fromage a Trois by Victoria Brownlee from the publisher Amberjack from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What It’s About: Ella is expecting a proposal, but instead gets a break up. What is a girl to do? The only thing a girl can do, book a one way ticket to Paris and have a pilgrimage of wine, cheese, and the joy of life.

What I Loved: This book is a fun romp. We have a love triangle. And we have a very cute cheese shoppe owner. Seriously he is so cute. This journey of self discovery is fun and reads like a rom-com.

What I didn’t like so much: This book is sugary sweet and a little cheesy (pun intended) but I think that's what you have to expect with books like this.

Who Should Read It: People who love books set in Paris. People who love books about self-discovery.

Cheese will never break your heart. I now need to visit Paris for myself. Reading books and travelogues only get you so far. My soul is now hungering for adventure and fine food and wines.

Anytime a title has to do with traveling to France, I’m always in. & I dream of being like Ella, and being able to drop everything, grab a ticket and head to Paris to get over my heartbreak!

Who doesn’t want to end up in a love triangle, and not just with the wine and cheese?

Adorable, well-written title that had me nostalgic for a place I can’t wait to return.

I thought this book was really cute! I love the premise and the title. It provided the perfect escape--and constantly made me hungry for cheese.

Ella, an almost 30-year-old Australian is about to be proposed to. At least that’s what she’s convinced of when she puts on her best dress, impeccable make-up and goes to meet her boyfriend for dinner at their favourite French restaurant in their hometown of Melbourne. The night not only doesn’t end with a shiny ring on her finger, it ends with a break-up. Her, now ex, boyfriend Paul goes on a mindfulness retreat to Thailand and Ella swears to separate herself from him and the 8 years she put into their relationship. A week or so later she finds herself in Paris with plans to start fresh in a city she fell in love with at the cusp of adulthood. A city where she fell in love with… cheese.

Sometimes you just know. From the first page of „Fromage à Trois” I knew I would enjoy this one immensely. I love food. I love coffee and wine. I love reading about it all, I love reading about people enjoying different kind of food, preparing meals, eating them, talking about it with other fine food enthusiasts. Match made in heaven, really.

While Ella isn’t what I’d call an especially reliable main character, she is quite naive and easily falls into traps of a certain glamorous lifestyle (you’ll know what I mean once you read the book, trust me), she is also very relatable. That relatability, eagerness to learn and passion for all things French (first and foremost: cheese!) made all her flaws lose in significance. She read great. I loved getting to know the real Paris (a city I have been to twice, once for a week and the second time for a day so I wasn’t all unknowledgeable), the one you will only ever know if you live there. It was a blast to walk the streets with her, be amazed by the corner bistros and cafes, have picnics in a park, drink copious amounts of wine that would go well with different kinds of cheese. It was wonderful to discover this city at an unhurried pace of someone who has the time and wants to take it slow. Take it all in small intakes, leisurely and with a whole lot of deep appreciation.

The atmosphere of „Fromage à Trois” is what makes this book and that is, I imagine, all thanks to the author Victoria Brownlee who has lived in Paris herself and knew firsthand how disorienting it could be for a foreigner with plans to stay but hardly any French.
That being said, the book was just very wholesome. The cast of characters was great. They were all different, each with their own quirk. They didn’t blur together like in some novels whenever friends of the main are concerned. I was genuinely interested in their presence. The romantic side of the book was terrific, too. It didn’t go as I expected but I was even happier for it. Let’s just say that a romance novel steering off course and not falling into traps of certain tropes is an excellent thing I don’t see that often. I was super happy with the love interest choices the author made but if I had one remark, I would say the last couple of chapters hurried things along a bit too much for my taste. It wasn’t anything drastic and I hear there is a sequel coming out real soon so I’ll get my fix of proper relationship development soon enough.

I don’t want to spoil the story, the endgame or berate Ella for this or that she could have done differently. Self-discovery is just that – once mistakes are made you learn from them and hope for a better future. Her story was like that and she came out of it stronger and wiser. Trust be told, I adored her. I related to her crushes, I seconded many of her observations, I walked her Paris alongside her and was glad for the lessons it gave me.

Everyone who likes this kind of character driven books, stories full of appreciation and love for food, stories for people who enjoy reading about spur-of-a-moment decisions which leave you dizzy but amazed by life – this one’s for you. Especially if can see yourself in a basically foreign city enjoying a cup of coffee and chanting ‘je t’aime, je t’aime, je t’aime’ under breath because the moment is just that simple yet magical.
If you’re one of those, read it, you’ll love it.

Pretty much everything I love in one book: Paris and cheese. In fact, I found myself craving cheese multiple times. Breezy read with likeable characters. However, everything seems to work out for our leading lady, more so than one would believe.

If you love paris or contemporary romance, you will enjoy this book. This is not an overly complicated book full of elegant prose and convoluted storylines; instead, you get a story about a woman with real emotions and a penchant for wanderlust who deals with a broken heart.

Though the men may be a little stereotypical, Victoria Brownlee has a talent for writing understandable and relatable character, especially female characters. It was nice to see a set of women friends who weren't instantly soulmates but also didn't hate one another.

Obviously, the setting was spectacular, I mean, it is Paris. I loved learning about french cheese throughout the story, which almost grounded the book in a fermented treat. When all else fails, eat some cheese, drink some wine, and move on.

Fromage a Trois was refreshingly modern, especially since the main character embraced technology in a normal person way. Yep, she loves her phone. She created an instantgram account for cheese. While this sounds absurd, it's a completely normal behavior for a young person living today. If we like it, you better believe we're going to take overly stylized photos of it, post it to IG, and hashtag the hell out of it.

Always glad for an HEA and looking forward to a followup by this writer.

Cuando era probable que un nuevo huracán nos azotara, para despejarme lo leí. Y definitivamente una buena elección. Es una lectura ligera y muy fácil de entender. Me encantó tanto. Te hace hasta querer viajar a Francia. Los personajes están bien estructurados y se entienden bien.
Los amas o los odias.
Creo que dos o tres cosas se podían mejorar, pero en general es una buena lectura para cuando te sientas mal o para las vacaciones.

I adored this book! It is light hearted without being all fluff. The author wrote the characters in such a way that they just drew me in and made me fall in love with them. I loved Elle's bravery and even more loved her determination to taste a different French cheese for every day of the year. I ended this book with smile and with a craving for cheese!

I would love to find more books just like this one!

This is Ella’s story of finding her herself and finding out what she really wants for her life. When her boyfriend decides that he needs to “find himself”, she decides that she needs a change. She moves to Paris for a year. While in Paris, she eats, she cries, she loves. She makes a bet with her cheesemonger that she can’t eat all of the different types of French cheese in a year…but that’s only one part of the story.

This title is instantly now one of my favorites. I definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for a light fun read. I couldn’t put it down and I’m sure you won’t be able to either. I am definitely looking forward to more books by Victoria Brownlee!

This is the sweetest little nugget of a story and I can't stop smiling! Full of hilarious and wanderlust inducing moments, Fromage à Trois took me by surprise with its charming story. I really liked the characters and as an opening to author Brownlee, I don't think I could've picked a better book. Elle is a fab lead and while some of her choices had me feeling some kind of way, I can't deny I enjoyed this book immensely. Excuse me while I go book a trip to Paris!

I just finished this book and I can't stop smiling. It was so cute! Funny and charming and heart-warming. I've been reading so much serious books full of despair lately that this one was just fresh breath of air I really needed. I immensely enjoyed this one.

I was very excited to read this novel. Unfortunately, the book was archived on NetGalley before I was able to download it. I will absolutely add this book to my To Be Read list and hope to read it soon!

I want to escape to Paris and study the nuances of cheese after reading Fromage à Trois. Getting lost in the pages and streets of Paris was most enjoyable. The city and food were the most developed characters in this novel. I would recommend this book to those who want to live in Paris vicariously through the character.
