I didn’t really like this book at all. The characters were totally unbelievable and it had lots of potential but it was so poorly executed that i couldn’t stand it.

What a great teen mystery! I loved some of the characters whilst others really irritated me, so I was obviously invested in each of their stories :) Well worth the read, the book kept me gripped until the very last page.

A YA mystery that certainly delivers, It Ends With You is a great intro to S. K. Wright. I really enjoyed this book - the writing is fantastic, the story as complex as a YA mystery should be and while some of the characters did get on my nerves a little, I can't deny that they served this little world perfectly. With enough unpredictability to keep you hooked until the end, It Ends With You is a great read.

Reviewing for NetGalley

This is amazing!!!
I’m not one to read crime/thrillers but I’m glad I picked this gem up. The book is told in many different perspectives as they try to investigate the disappearance and then murderer of a young girl. I found it difficult to put down so readers beware.

This is such an amazing debut young adult mystery novel. There was such an atmospheric sense of tense unknowing. Overall it was very great and enjoyable.

Eva is dead, but what happened that night and who is responsible for her murder?

It Ends With You by S.K. Wright is an intriguing YA thriller that will leave you fascinated til the very end and beyond.

This story is told from multiple POVs while telling the story of good girl turned wild child Eva and her boyfriend Luke. I loved the writing and thoroughly enjoyed the book, rating it four stars overall. I felt a little confused trying to place which character was which on occasion, but was otherwise thoroughly fascinated by this novel.

With thanks to Hachette Children’s Books, Australia for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Eva most beloved girl in school is found dead in a ditch all attention turns to her boyfriend, Luke, however all is not what it seems. While I enjoyed this book for the most part i had trouble connecting to any of the characters and the only chapters I found very interesting were Eva's journal entry's. I recommend that you give this book a try.

Everyone loves Eva. Beautiful, bright, fun, generous - she's perfect. She is the girl everyone wants to be best friends with. When she goes missing and her body is found a couple of days later in a ditch in the forest there is only one thing everyone wants to know: who did it?

All fingers point to Luke, the slightly obsessed boyfriend. All the evidence points to him as well. But is everything as clearly laid out as it seems?

I absolutely loved this book. While I found the start a little bit slow, once they found her body and started to pin the crime on Luke I was hooked. It is very cleverly written, told from six different perspectives throughout the book, give you a different side of the story each with each new chapter.

I had my guesses about who killed Eva, and it wasn't the person that ended up behind bars. I also wasn't given answers about the character I suspected...which has left me hanging a little bit.

But ok, can we talk about the last chapter too? Because OMG!!!!! HOW CAN YOU END IT LIKE THAT AND LEAVE ME HANGING!! I NEED ANSWERS!!! Following another character revealing something and then fobbing it off as a 'joke' I have completely questioned everything that I thought I knew from this book. SEQUEL PLEASE!

I found it hard at first to get into this book but once it got going I could not put it down, if you like mysteries and books that will keep you hanging on until the last minute then you will love this book. I did find it ended unexpectedly so be prepared to be left hanging, so I am hoping for a sequel soon but it was a great YA read.

It Ends With You is a young adult book but will easily appeal to all readers no matter what age. It is a quick and twisty read and you will have to keep reading. It ends very abruptly and openly which was a bit annoying but I really did enjoy this book.

Eva is the most popular girl at school, everybody loves her. So when her body is found after being missing for a few days nobody can quite believe it. Her boyfriend Luke is immediately the prime suspect. But as the investigation goes along the reader starts to learn that ther could be many people who has the motive to kill her. So who did it?

Thanks to Hackett Australia and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

A thrilling page-turner that involves the murder of a 17 year-old female.
This novel was so intense that I was guilty of reading whilst at work (whoops).
I’ll admit, little irritated that Luke never got justice but at the same time, this is so reflective of the everyday, there’s never a happy-ending, someone is wrongfully accused and those rightfully accused can walk out Scott-free.
I really want to know what happens to Luke, if he’s still in jail, does someone catch Sebastian?!? Does Siobhan die?!?
Eva was also so manipulative in her diaries to point Luke out as the bad guy, urgh!
It’s also sad how if your family has prior criminal records (even with a lack of association) and that you’re from a lower class family, that you’re easier to pin for a crime, it’s unfortunately a harsh reality.

thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read a copy of this book in advance!
when i wasn't reading this book i just couldn't get it out of my mind. it drew me in so strongly and i was so desperate to find out who eva's killer was, i had a few suspects in mind but it wasn't obvious to me until the last quarter of the book who did it which was nice. i think the ending was slightly rushed and i felt a little dissatisfied but i understand that this was the intention of the author because it further highlighted some of the key themes throughout the book. overall, this book was a dream to read and i'd definitely recommend it!

It Ends With You is a YA mystery/thriller that follows the aftermath of a young girl's disappearance and subsequent murder. It follows the perspectives of several friends, peers and acquaintances as we try to figure out who is guilty of this horrendous crime.

With a book that had so many perspectives (about 7?), I would not have expected to enjoy it. However, I loved the multiple POV's as each character had secrets to hide. I loved how Wright kept me on the edge of my seat and I definitely did not guess the twists and turns throughout. My only critique is that this story built up to so much and then it just finished. I felt like the ending (or lack thereof) was too rushed and I am left wanting answers.

Nonetheless, I still highly enjoyed this and strongly recommend. Looking forward to reading more of this author's work in the future.

Really enjoyed this one, plot was 10/10, but I did feel the characters were lacking.

I didn't really connect to any of the characters, and having finished, I don't even feel as though I LIKE any of them, which is an issue.

I want to be invested in my book characters, but these ones were just not for me.

But this book is one that once you begin, you just have to keep reading and reading until you turn the page and realise that there are not more, at which point, you shrivel up and die.

And speaking of, THAT ENDING?! It was really sudden and suspenseful, but
i really liked the idea of it!

But overall, I would say that this book was unpredictable and edgy, and I really enjoyed it!

I received this book from #netgallery for a review. It Ends with You starts with the murder of the popular, beautiful girl at school. Immediately her boyfriend from the wrong side of the tracks is the main suspect. It then jumps between points of view of all the main players – the best friends, the boyfriend, the investigating detective.

The chapters are short and punchy. I liked the change of format- there were blog posts, diary entries, messages, etc. There is a suite of characters built into the story, but sadly none of them are particularly likable. There’s the boyfriend with the violent temper, the beautiful but self-absorbed girl, the best friend who only wants to ensure his own reputation isn’t dusted with scandal.

The writing is pretty cringy. It’s like a collection of all the naff lines, ever. “My heart skipped a beat”. “I gather myself”. “I melt into his touch”. I don’t like this kind of writing for teen books, because I think it shows an assumption that teens want to read unintelligent writing, but I think you’ll find they don’t. Indulge them, challenge them, but don’t dumb them down. There is much too much telling and not showing.

In credit to the book, I didn’t immediately pick the ending, and there were moments of actual suspense. It’s a quick read, nothing too mentally taxing, but I think some teens will enjoy it.

The evidence all points to one person, but the suspect list continues to grow as the events start to unfold.

This story grabbed me and pulled me in, I needed to know what happened to Eva, I could have read this in one sitting.

Seeing different sides from all characters really made this story, I felt the ending was really rushed considering the lead up to it.

I will be recommending this book to others and hope to select it for book club when it's my turn.

Many thanks for the acceptance to read this wonderful book.

IT ENDS WITH YOU is a debut novel by S.K. Wright. It is a YA mystery/thriller that centres on a young girl's disappearance and subsequent murder. The community is quick to assume her boyfriend is responsible, but things aren't what they seem. Wright has done a brilliant job of writing a story full of twists and turns so that by the end of the story, I still wasn't 100% sure who actually murdered Eva.
The novel explores issues of class and acceptance, not only in a high school environment, but also within the wider community.

The story is written really well, and was easy to binge read. I read the whole story in one sitting because I just needed to know what happened and who the murder was. I actually really liked that the author left the ending somewhat ambiguous, rather than a clean ending with the murder being in prison.

I'm trying to keep this spoiler free so I'm not going to say more than that but if you're looking for an addictive and twisty YA mystery/thriller, give this one a go! I'm off to preorder a physical copy on Booktopia!

3.5 conflicting stars ★★★(★)
The synopsis had a great introduction that hooked me to read the book. At the start the character introductions were very basic and boring but it got better throughout the story.
By the half-way mark it became difficult to put the book down and I was so excited to find out the truth behind the murder.
The most interesting part was the use of different formats throughout the book. Information is passed to you through story telling, diary and blog entries, even chat conversations. The blog entries gave a gossip girl feeling and I loved that.
I don’t know how I feel/felt about Luke as a character. He gets way too angry and impatient. His anger problems are kind of addressed with his past and family situations, but it doesn’t help me empathise for the character or feel anger towards him. I feel like I would've enjoyed reading it more if I could relate to him better.
The ending is somewhat ambiguous and I’m wondering if it’s to prepare for a sequel? For mystery/thriller books I really think there is no point in that. Good murder stories can be played out well in a one-hour TV show episode/movie.
I will give some credit for the complexity of character relationships, as you find out more about who is who and how names you glance over actually play important roles.
Overall it was an enjoyable book but perhaps cannot live up to other books I’ve read with a similar genre.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette Children's Books for the ARC!
