Sorry, this is the US version rather than the UK version, so I don't feel qualified to write a review.

I loved this book. I found it very helpful full of useful information and answers to many questions about self publishing and considering working with Ebooks. If you are thinking about publishing your own book this is a helpful tool to help you decide what is best for you.

This book presents with the facts of self-publishing. Nowadays we can find all the details of self-publishing online within 900 words character limit. The topic of the book is sufficient for a blog post or an article and need not be a book. There were many repetitive topics. Most points included a link to a website which makes the book not much useful. The topic of self-publishing is also evolving as new factors getting included every now and then thus, a book on this topic goes out of relevance pretty soon. Overall the book has included all important topics and I would recommend it for libraries.

The title tells you everything you need to know, and in keeping with that, this book itself feels inexpensive.
It’s written matter of fact, like a textbook in a class you don’t care about, even though this will only be read by those who do care. There’s plenty here on why you shouldn’t use most companies, with some grudging examples at the end of those chapters that might be okay. There’s huge sections that list publishing companies, which can make for boring reading if not outright skipping. While I’m not saying it shouldn’t be here, as for reference’s sake it’s necessary, it does render an already small book even tinier.
The most interesting chapter was on doing your own publicity.
I don’t have anything against this book other then it’s dry and boring, but then it’s basically a reference book, not meant to be exciting. Still, it didn’t give me much of an impetus to want to read it or do anything with the info.

There's a lot of good information about the self-publishing world. Alan provides the website for each publisher recommended as well as an overview of their services. He also indicates whether a publisher has a phone number authors can use to contact them or not. There are quite a number of names that a simple research for publishers may not have uncovered. It should be noted that while Alan makes mention of a number of publishers he did not personally test out all of them. Therefore an author who was planning to self-publish would still need to do their own research. A good way to do that would be to start with this book as a reference point.
Thanks to NetGalley who provided a free copy of this book for my honest review.

This book is great!

Allan very concisely gives the low down on self publishing for the lowest prices you can find. I love how he literally takes out all the work on your part and lists your options and prices you will be looking at. Awesome source for any perspective writers!

This is not a big book, but it contains a HUGE amount of good information. Mr. Allan also has an evaluation of every aspect of publishing, so this is really helpful for new authors. Since most of the info is "perishable" with change of services etc I hope the author will revise the book every year or so.

Snappy and short, clear and concise. A well researched guide to self publishing which, above all, is readable and presented in a straightforward manner. Certainly helps to give a good grounding to, what is, a potential minefield!

As the title suggests, William Allan offers a treasure chest of information to anyone who might be considering self-publishing a book. The narrative kicks off with an introduction of 12 viable reasons in support of self-publishing. All information is laid out in layman's terms. It was easy to follow. Many questions on where to begin and how to get started are answered in chronological order.

Helpful guidance is provided along the way to assist anyone considering publishing their first novel, be it a paperback or ebook. Many valuable resources had been compiled and were listed to include: market strategies, price schedules and contact information. Most importantly, the author helps remove the mystique about the world of publishing that's often intimidating to debut authors.

I would recommend this book to any aspiring writer who has given serious consideration to publishing their first piece of literature. It's a good place to start.

I offer my gratitude to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this digital edition in exchange for an unbiased review.

If you were to type "how to self publish inexpensive books and ebooks" in the Google search bar, you would spend weeks or even months trying to figure out what option or publisher to settle for as a writer. I wish I had this book in 2014 when I was getting into self-publishing. The author does a great job of compressing information on publishing ebooks, from the publishers, their rates and the pros and cons of any option. I am still self-publishing and thanks to NetGalley for this has been such an insightful read.
PS: Did I mention that it's also short? Like he does not want to bog you down with unnecessary stuff?

The best thing about this book is that it isn’t filled with a lot of extraneous writing. (Don’t you just hate it when you have to read through many pages of worthless material to get to what you need?) The author carefully gathered together many sources from editors to self-publishing companies that will help from making your book the best that it can be, to finding the perfect publishing company. What more could you ask for?
