This was a great poetry book. I always absolutely enjoy his work and I can't wait to read more in the near future. I highly recommend it.

And then my soul saw you and it kind of went
"Oh there you are, I've been looking for you."

I really enjoyed this!! There were a lot of relatable poems or ones that were written well and some of the photographs were really nice. There were also some poems that I didn't like as much and were a little cliche, but overall it was a good read!

I was new to Netgalley and accidentally requested for this book. Unfortunately, I never did get around to reading it and I stopped using the site.
I resumed again this year & since I never got around to reading this book, I don't have an opinion or a review.

My star rating isn't for any other reason other than to be able to send this feedback. It doesn't reflect my experience with the book

I heard about this author from tumblr and was pleasantly surprised to see a book on here from him. The poetry is amazing and will leave you deep in thought just like all of his work.

Pub Date 02 Oct 2018

I am reviewing a copy I Wrote This For You through Andrew McMeel Publishing and Netgalley:

I Wrote This For You was started in 2007 by the author Lain. S. Thomas. This book is an exploration with hauntingly beautiful words photography and emotion becomes a unique journey, individual to all who read it.

This book gathers together nearly 200 of the most beautiful entries into four distinct chapters; Sun, Moon, Stars, Rain. Together with several new and exclusive poems that don't appear anywhere else, each chapter of I Wrote This For You focuses on a different facet of life, love, loss, beginnings and endings.

I give I Write This For You Four out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Once in a while you found a book that somehow felt that it is written personally for you. As if the author writes the book with you in his mind, and the dedication has your name written on it. I Wrote This For You is one of those rare books if ever there is already one out there existing. It is also a kind of book that felt like you wrote by yourself for someone you love and care. As if the author write down all the feelings and thoughts you cannot express and manage to put them on the pages of this lovely book.

I'm really not interested in these books. They are just too depressing. You have to be in the right mood to appreciate all the lamenting about loss and heartbreak.

The layout was beautiful and I loved the images. The book was a little more relationship focused that I would like at my age (45) but for someone younger I think this book would be a success

I absolutely adored this book, it was so enchantingly heartbreaking. I've been eying this book for a while now, so getting a chance at reading it made my day.

Iain Thomas will not disappoint you. He'll grab your heart by its collar and Shove his poems down your veins. It'll make you cry all the while being entirely enticed by his words.

I don't know what else I can say to give this book more justice.

I actually really enjoy the format of the book. It's unique how the author combined photography with poetry. However, I hope I could feel connected more the poetry. Because it did not stir up something in me. I mean some of them are great, but not all of them are did something to me.
It's always hard to review poetry because poetry is more personal than reading fiction (I hope this make sense). So, even though this collection is not for me, I know a lot of people will love it.

This was an interesting concept by Thomas that mixed the photography and short romancy style poems together. It git a bit samey after a while but there were quite a few moments that i felt like underlining or sharing with people. One issue i had with this was when the text and image would go from portrait to landscape meaning that i would have to be moving my head a lot, It's an interesting read, not groundbreaking but enjoyabke enough.

A beautiful series of poems, poem quotes and truths expressed in these words, accompanied by startling photographs which frame and illustrate the writing. A beautiful book in all senses.

If there was one thing I can say I liked about this book was how insightful and interpreting the pictures and the poems were. The pictures just give a hint towards what the poem is telling you. The tone and the flow really works well with me.

What I didn’t like how after a while it felt like a diary for someone they loved with the words like’ kissed ‘ and such. Which I’m pretty what this was supposed to be .It really works well for this story but for me at certain points it kind of seems repetitive and annoying.

Even though I did not finish, I would wonderfully recommend this for people who love poetry about life and experiences you can go through. Though I don’t think I would ever pick this upon physical form.

“I need you to understand something. I wrote this for you. I wrote this for you and only you. Everyone else who reads it, doesn’t get it. They may think they get it, but they don’t. This is the sign you’ve been looking for. You were meant to read these words.”

This book was incredible from start to finish. Iain S. Thomas has created something so unique and so perfect. Something so simple and unique like this is important.

The entry letter took me away, beautifully crafted and packed full of emotion. Each word crafted so nicely together.

The art work on every single page was incredible and fit the overall theme of the book so well. I loved how simple some of the photographs were, but how they all packed a punch with the storyline.

Iain S. Thomas offered us something different on every page. Readers got stunning art work, incredible emotions, prose, poetry, and fragmented narrative that is all incredibly effective.

This book is a must for anyone interested in Milk & Honey or similar titles. I enjoyed this book and loved feeling the emotion on every single page. Definitely need to pick this book up!

I Wrote This for You is the 3rd book I've read by Iain S. Thomas and with each one, my admiration for him and his talent grows. This is a man who unashamedly allows himself to feel and acknowledge the wide spectrum of human emotions, puts them into words beautifully, and shares them with the world. His work is so very relatable that it's difficult to not see yourself in the pages of his books. I love the universality of his works. Another 5-star rating from me

Many thanks to NetGalley and Andrew McMeel Publishing for allowing me to read an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I've read some of the poems before, but I could relate to most of the poems featured in this book and I spent a nice, cosy evening reminiscing on my sofa.

After reading the second book (I wrote this for you and only you) I had to read this one! This one is another masterpiece and one of the best poetry books out there. I highly recommend it.
.
However I found the second book even more better, but that doesn't make this one any less good. What I'm saying is if this one is 5/5 the other one (I wrote this for you and only you) was 6/5 for me.
.
The best tip I could give you is to read this book, slowly, a little loudly and let each word sink in for the one of the best reading experience.

I Wrote This For You is a poetry collection with beautiful words, photography about love, loss, beginnings and endings. This poetry collection is divided into 4 chapters: Sun, Moon, Stars and Rain.

"I let you know that I won’t love you.
But my heart has no conscience."

I Wrote This For You was such a unique poetry collection to me because on every page there was a picture. Not a drawing or an illustration, but a ‘real’ photo accompanied by a poem and I really like this style. It gave this poetry collection something special!

"Look at you, like a new tattoo. Because I might not always have you, but I’ll have the feeling of you for the rest of my life."

This poetry collection was the first book I’ve read by Iain S. Thomas and I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of his poetry. I loved reading his poems and so many of them were so relatable or just beautiful in general!

"You love the way air moves. And now I can no longer breathe."

This book is unlike any poetry book I had read before. It almost felt too personal. Like I was reading someones journal. While I didn't relate to every one, I remember a time in my life that most fit.
The words flow. They pack a punch and I can read them over and over.

Beautifully written

Gaaaaaah as someone who grew up writing and seeing poetry in everything I ABSOLUTELY ADORE poems and beautiful verses about flowers, life, love, honestly I see poetry in everything.

I absolutely loved this book. And need to add it to my poetry collection.

“Love, at every opportunity you are given. Be less afraid. Embrace each day (none are promised). Cry when you need to, it'll make you feel better. You were put on this planet to feel every feeling you could, do that. Everything works out in the end, I promise.”
